The Master Cook Book: Combos, Match-ups, and FAQs (Updated: Ultra SF4)

What do you do to after you knock Fei down? CW’s invincibility frames avoid attacks and he has a dp,

sf. HK hurts Seth/Dhalsim’s hands (j. HP). Our Ultra II doesn’t beat Abel’s.

I like this one a lot

We need a section for Famous/Notable Luchadors and perhaps some kind of tier list. I’ll kick off the list with the following…

El Santo (he was the inspiration for El Fuerte)

Strong Bad

by :17 seconds you should have already won -.-

All the Fuerte match-ups I have: http://m.sf4tube.com/matchups/el_fuerte

There’s just not a lot of Fuerte video out there for Super it seems.

@Paper : 2 ppl to add to the corner reset …

*Rose
*Seth

Also we cant forget the slide glitch…still works!

*Able
*Dee Jay
*Guile
*Ibuki

(small note for slide glitch…everyone has to be timed different Able being the easiest to slide on wakeup… with the others you have to slide pretty much at the last min. before they start to kick up)

Jump straight up just not towards him in case of anti air, when you land after the first shock, ultra if you’re close enough otherwise just jump again, blanka is really vulnerable after his ultra

thnx for the tips el toro. i was messing around some more w blankas ultra 2 seeing what beats what and i managed to tortilla him outta both versions of his ultra. the timing is different based on what version he used and so far im incosistent with it, but ill put some more work on it in the lab. if its too inconsistent then what el toro posted should be more than enough to take care of the problem

I think you’re better off avoiding the ultra and punishing with ultra or rsf. Seems like beating it with tortilla is more stylish then anything.

yea i think you are probably right.

avoiding blanka is probably a good idea too
but alas you can’t predict who your opponent’s use
so that’s impossible

Guess its time to perfect Tortilla reset - super

Here’s a little thing I’ve started doing.

Space yourself out perfectly to whiff shower kick, do cr. short x3 into super.

Its like playing Ken in Third Strike!

(If the shower kick hits… you can still cr. short x3 into super)

If he blocks it you have three shorts to hit confirm, then you can EX run away or block.

Or you can cr. forward mixup after the cr. short.

After EVO I plan to spend the coming year perfecting CR. Forward and CR. Short loops

niice! well s.short loops are a tad bit easier to me at the moment than cr.short loops…if you cant do thoes yet then thats where you should start imo…
with the tortilla reset i use it to get info on the opponent. s.short xx run back to right outside of the opponents poke range then punish with whatever when i get the setup again…i have also been going for RS loops/mixup after the reset if they dont react , just so they will keep blocking and i can keep my pressure game …

seth vs fuerte=mindblown?

Finally had some time to upload new videos. I guess we’re supposed to post it here now?

lol

enjoy :stuck_out_tongue:

You keep your distance really well against abel, and your reactions are great. He does a lot of damage once he’s finally in though that sucks.

It seems like EVERY blanka i’ve ever seen does wake up ultra, while everyone else gets the " i can’t believe he did wake up ultra" treatment it seems like blanka gets praise, is it just me?

Gah the chun li match up is so difficult for some reason, i used to never run into chuns now every one i face rapes me. That was a really nice ending, dangerous though

Edit: After watching your matches i’ve noticed you do psychic ex guac alot, you never really got punished for them in these matches but just be careful about those.

thanks for the critiques.

yeah i seem to have trouble getting out when abel closes in i try to late tech his grab. i dont know why its probably a habit since i’ll eat a command grab every time.

ah yes every blanka if you’re too close to them their mindset is to use ultra on wakeup thinking it will hit because they think you won’t know how to block it. and i think its just you about the wake up ultra treatment haha

chun is still really tough for me but i’ve been working on it. i just eat a lot of hits real quick which is why i generally lose to her

and yeah i really need to stop psychic ex guacs. i’ve been punished plenty of times for it. especially if i’m in a corner and do an ex guac to get out. what are other good options to do on wakeup to get out of pressure besides ex guac and ex back run?

@OP: I thought Zangief was an easy matchup? I get perfects on Zangief more than any other character, and no matter how close it gets I always win.

When Blanka uses Ultra I on wakeup i just EX guac him, it’s pretty funny actually. I havent faced one with Ultra II yet. The thing about Chun-li users is that they love to punish. You have to put yourself in their shoes, what do you think that they think you will do next? Also avoid dumb attacks when she has ultra, she can punish with EX legs into Ultra easily. Another thing about them is that they like to set up attacks with fireballs so if she throws one and walks towards you you can usually catch them with tortilla or splash. Also be prepared to guac because Chun’s like to neutral jump when they think you’ll attack them and without that kikoken setup theyll usually approach with jump-ins. Occasionally they’ll expect you to jump and use double fierce with also combos into ultra so try not to jump when she does and if you do hit first.
