You can airthrow juri out of her projectile throwing animation.
shower kick goes through her pinwheel? ex as well as non ex?
Correct, it works properly regardless of whether Juri’s pinwheel is EXed.
Requested to have this thread Stickied today, once it is stickied please continue matchup, and other discussions here.
I’ve had this happen by accident, but I’m quite curious as to how to do this safely. Looks like its off to the training room for me.
On another node, we should add option selects in here. It’s not that the current thread is useless, it’s just that it would be nicer to have everything in the cookbook or else it would defeat the purpose of it.
That reminds me, who are the characters whose backdash can be grabbed, i know chuns is one
You can grab any backdash during its airborne frames (The only 2 characters that don’t have any airborne frames are Ken and Dan), here is the dashing frame data:
http://shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Super_Street_Fighter_IV#Dashing
The longer the character is in air while dashing, the easier it is to get them with an airthrow (looking at Sagat and Rufus for example indicates that they are relatively easy to airthrow when they back dash).

I’d like to add a note on the Rose match-up…
A well-timed tortilla (safe tortilla timing) will grab her out of U2 (eliminating the orbs) if she does it on her wake up.
That’s interesting, anyhow I’m tired and I won’t be updating the thread anymore tonight.
I’m really happy and think the thread is really shaping up, I think this may turn out to be the most informative sticky out of all the character discussions- too bad only <1% of the sf4 playing community will care.
Since I went through all the work to make this thread its up to all you fuertes in training to make the most of it!
This thread is awesome and I’m sure I’m not the only one who appreciates the time you’ve spent on it.
Also, I’ll post my salsa recipe later on for all you salsa loving luchadors out there. I could probably add a few other things to the recipe section, just give me time. :bgrin:
Since you live in San Antonio I’ll assume you go to Arcade UFO.
Did you learn the rose match up by playing against Fubarduck?
I haven’t played Fubar since Super came out, and all I’ve played was his Rufus and Akuma. I need to get out there and play more often, I’ve really fallen off in this game. I feel very comfortable with the Rose match-up though, I used to play this pretty good Rose online all the time and basically used to tear him apart. I think his handle on here is SCNinjaboy or something like that. Rose doesn’t have much of a wake up game period unless she has meter, and even then there are certain things she just can’t get around.
Side Note: There was a tournament at UFO last week and I ended up getting knocked out short of top 8 by a Rose player named Nathan (Aaron UFO) who is a BB player if I remember correctly. His Rose was pretty good but I felt that I could have won if I had more experience with both character’s U2s. When I got back home I hit up training mode and worked on punishing blocked moves with U2 and good ways to get around her U2. Looking at frame data I found that her U2 has 4 frames of recovery. The orbs start off on her sides and hit instantly so I couldn’t grab her from the ground, but the tortilla (and I’m pretty sure the Fajita buster and tostada and perhaps a well timed crossup) will do the trick if timed right. I also tried U2 on the flash at point blank range but that didn’t work for some reason…
EX run at rose with Ultra 2 active, absorb 2 hits and splash? AYA!
( I think I’d rather run away tbh)
Sounds like it could be good…I shall investigate more when I get home, I’m not quite sure about the armor properties. I’ve seen a lot of videos where people would just get in her face and block to end the threat and that seems to work pretty well.
I was doing pretty good early in the matches by running away, blocking and teching throws, but that ultra lasts for sooooo damn long and he basically got two chances to use it each match. This guy was really good with his spacing and timing and I would end up blocking just his normals without the orbs hitting me at all, that was pretty frustrating. All in all he only hit me with the orbs maybe twice in 7 or 8 rounds, but the momentum swing that came with just activating (basically ended all of my offense and found me in the corner) was all he needed at some points in the matches.
juri vs fuerte=pain in the ass!
played a juri user who for the most part toyed with me and ended up just destroying me
She’s not all that great on wakeup. A crossover tostada will have you avoid all pinwheels. Use tortilla to stop taunts. Don’t go for a hit if she has ultra 2. Other than that, she doesn’t have a whole lot.
Also, depending on the type of Juri you’re playing, run stop guacamole is an invaluable asset.
and who can forget the grappler killer balrog…
any grappler it doesn’t matter who it is gets dominated by a good balrog
i’ve played enough of them to know he’s bad news
Patience and sliding are the key to beating balrog honestly. Get the life lead and turtle, because thats what he’ll do. If you have u2 he wont be able to dash punch as often, and if you dont have it try to react with tortilla. Avoid jump ins since you dont wanna be in that jab walk forward grab bullshit. Oh and avoid the corner if he gets you there you lose.
Edit: Paper you should add a section on safe tortilla since theres a lot of ways to do it apparently.
Yes that happened to me as well, she did U2 on wakeup while I was doing a tortilla, and got her clean.
Thanks Paper for this awesome thread.
