I tried playing a more footsie oriented Fuerte using far MP and far HK. It was surprisingly effective, I was beating 3500+pp players that I wouldn’t normally beat. Far MP is my new favorite thing, I think it might be his best normal.

I think I’ve found someone far more annoying to fight than Blanka: Cammy, especially runaway ones.

Ibuki vs. El Fuerte

My good friend switched to Ibuki a few months back. Outside of Blanka this is that match-up I feel most comfortable in. Here are some of my notes(some are obvious):

  • I use Giga Buster(playing the player not the character).
  • Meaty focus attacks bet or stuff all of her none EX specials, including command dash.
  • There is no kunia you can’t :lk: Quac or EX Quac out of.
  • Focus baiting is a bad idea. Ibuki can punish half screen focuses with EX Neckbreaker if she’s looking for it.
  • Far :hk: beats Neckbreaker if timed right. Better off just blocking and punishing with throw or Ultra Spark(other punish?).
  • Raida beats everything but God.
  • EX Raida beats God.
  • If she kunai’s after blocked SRK she’s not completely safe. You maybe able to Ultra Spark her after wards. EDIT: She is safe BUT you can armor cancel Ultra Spark and grab her just as she lands.
  • Her air throw is rather good. This might just be me but it seems that the lower character always lands there air throw when done at the same time.
  • Ibuki can run away VERY well. Without meter it’s a pain to catch her.
  • Much like Rufus, zero EX stocked Ibuki’s have very limited options.

I’m heading over to his house right now to get some practice in. I’ll get his side of the match-up then.

Yeah, Cammy’s a hard match up; mainly because of her damage output and rushdown tools. I really enjoy the Blanka match-up, I don’t find it annoying.

how do you guys enjoy the blanka matches? I always get lol raped by blanka’s that actually know anything about blanka

You have to put your time in and grind this match 'til you just “get it”.

  • Each Blanka Balls have a differnet spin to them. You should be able to see the difference and react.
  • If you can’t reaction tech you’re pretty much screwed.

Stand mp slaps regular blanka balls. Hk Quesadilla bomb is best IMO for slow balls. You can keep lk to tech, and focus rainbow balls.

If I remember correctly you must block balls STANDING to be able to run slide them.

Focus rainbow ball then eat him alive.

I do find him annoying as well. His crossups are annoying and I can’t airgrab his normals. But I think the secret is to make him flinch. Beat his blanka balls reliably to discourage him from doing so. And force him to do dumb shit like spamming his command dash

Meter use in this match I like it for fadc qbomb since running is not a good idea in this one.

Two things I do against Ibuki also:
EX Guac if she does that overhead thing but goes for a Kunai instead of finishing it.

st. mp is a good punisher for neckbreaker since you can RS into cr. mk xx super or RS into throw.

Also, if a Blanka loves to jump over you at close range for a cross-up (since his jump arc is so short) you can just neutral jump and air grab. I do it a lot in the Blanka match-up.

The only thing of slight annoyance in the Blanka match-up is the corpse hopping that he does on your wake-up. It’s a nice mix-up that can’t be shrugged off by back dashing or guacing away. Don’t tech early in this situation, otherwise he’ll just hop through you again and throw you from the other side.

You can be crouching or standing, it doesn’t matter; as long as it’s reversal.

Watch your range. As blanka may try that slide of his. If I react fast on it I hit him with level 1 focus back dash then down back. Lots of times electricity or blanka ball or upball. I’d be thinking “safe tortilla” but the range here will not be controlled (predetermined by us like after a knockdown) and I feel unneccessary risks ain’t worth against blanka.

Just a reminder his command dash is immune to grabs. So don’t tech early like previously stated. Knocked down at close range sucks vs Blanka.

If I focus a Rainbow Ball and I’m at the range where cl RH will hit him while he’s still in the air I would do that.

Cl.RH into guac, definitely. That’s your standard punish for a rainbow ball after you’ve focused. You can also Ultra 1.

Same for a punishment for a whiffed vertical ball.

Yessir. If you’re feeling saucy just option select lk quac during his hop shenanigans and hope for the best.

one last question what about electricity that’s reallllly close to you but not hitting you? I can’t crouching round house because the start up gets hit by the electricity is there anything I can do to punish this ? I’ve found tortilla also some times gets hit on startup as well its kinda wierd
