Yes, this is something you have to do on reaction, if she delays you’ll have time to tell and you can either block react any other way you want. If the kunai is already out before your wake up then she should be on her way down and you’ll be good to go. And usually the way it works is that they’ll do a regular jump on your wake up and depending on when they release the kunai an which button they press then the kunai and/or ibuki will cross up or won’t. From my experience though, I’ve never whiffed on this (live or online) when she tries the kunai game on wake up. It makes them think twice about it when you have an ultra stocked which keeps a lot of pressure off of you so try it out…or don’t, whichever.
I just ex run or ex guac the fuck out of there lol
Yup, that’s always an option. I’m not sure if there’s enough time for her to punish the guac with a neck breaker or not, no one’s ever tried to punish me with it when I EX guac out. I’ll look into it some more when I get a chance.
I like to q-bomb kunais. It’s even better when I hit the kunai and send her dumbass into the corner.
Works like a champ when she does her penguin kick special and follows it with a Kunai.
Don’t even think of using q-bomb against her otherwise.
Lots of ibuki’s I’ve played seem to not go for throws. To busy trying to repeatedly revortex you.
I should have saved that replay. I don’t remember if I used regular or ex q-bomb when I countered follow-up kunai. What I do know is it threw her to the corner, she teched out and I baited.
I would think not, unless they really expected it they might be able to with the lp version if it’s fast enough. But most Ibuki’s attempt to try their “vortex” (idk what to call it, mix ups?) on you and might just do a whiffed target combo or something.
True, I just want to find out if it CAN work or not. Feeding my curiosity.
I’ve learned the juri matchup isnt as free as once thought, her dash avoids alot of moves and teleports through you sometimes letting her punish you, also many fuertes like to do cr.mk into splash and juri has a move that beats it for free and gives a pretty good punish, ill post videos later showing you all >>::
I prefer cr mk xx run stop shower kick.
Cr mk run tostada is a bad idea.
Seriously. It’s cute. But the more I play the more I see it as a habit that needs to go away. It’s a gimmick as far as I’m concerned.
Bison without meter is a good time to throw in shower kick to close fierce. After that first time. It opens up stuff. There was an occassion where I teleported past him and went for close fierce but I’m not sure wether it was his last second focus attempt that caused it.
If he goes for psycho punisher you can reversal ultra 1. But if he goes past you. He will recover sooner then you.
Bison can be annoying. But everytime he did mk/hk scissors it was free crmk to mixup time.
I’m on the fence about ultra here. I think ultra depends on what kinda bison you fight. Sloppy ones should get ultra sparked. But smart bisons. Best bet is ultra 1. It sorta kinda threat of his ultra 2 to an extent.
Depending on the way your opponent is reacting to pressure c.mkxxbackrunxxtostada can work. I don’t think it’s gimmicky at all.
You could easily say all of Elf’s ways in are gimmicky if you think that.
My bad. I mean gimmick as in not using it so often.
It’s so much in my muscle memory.
Ugh it really is i go for cr.mk into splash as if its a target combo. Very bad habit
What is the correct punish in this situation? Is there time to go for damage (run up rsf?) or should one just run slide for the knockdown? I realized I didn’t know the punish even though I knew the bait when I played wong.
Yep. It’s a mixup. A 50/50 specifically~
cr.mk to splash works alot imo. You should always adjust your mixup to the player you play. if he’s back dasher, jumper, focus’s alot etc. then eventually theyll start adapting, but it takes away an element of there gameplan to use against fuerte and forces them to play different.
You’ve seen me do j.HP into cl.HPxxGuac a lot acting the same way. Now I’m dealing with j.HP into RSF (which works, but I forget to stop if it’s blocked).
If rufus messiahs over you there should be just enough time to get close and do a couple hits of rsf, although i dont think theres enough time to get good spacing to do a long string of them maybe 2 or 3, but if you dont feel confident enough slide is ok.
if you have a habit of doing rsf non stop think of it as a block string and learn to run stop grab, gets em everytime just be careful because it seems like my opponents like to stop blocking and get with the fierce right as im about to stop and grab making it whiff
If the messiah kick goes over you and Rufus does a follow up it’s basically a free FA/slide/Ultra, if he doesn’t do the follow up it’s a free U2 (not so sure about U1) but he might be able to escape U2 with the lk and hk follow-up on reaction (not sure). I’ll play with this later if no one knows for sure.
Found this while practicing RSF against an El Fuerte dummy (randomly picked for those of you wondering).
If you go into slide early, you can slide through Fuerte. I’m not quite sure what the difference is in time, but you have to wait just a little bit to instead of doing it right away.
Yeah Chuck mentioned to me that fierce into run slide doesn’t work on Fuerte, replace with a quesadilla bomb on him
In other news; I’ve been banging my head against the Blanka matchup for a few weeks now, normally I control the matchup fairly well, but recently some of their shenanigans have been making me lose my cool. Specifically Electricity and Vertical Ball on wake up, is it just a guessing game? Or should I spend more time baiting one of them? Because I’ve tried purely baiting it, but then it became too hard to get a life lead.
I’m wondering if I should just out patient him, or if I should rush him down? This matchup seems to be polar opposites at times; really easy or really hard for me. Any tips on this would be great.
I treat blanka like i treat zangief, get the life lead and run because he’d do the same. I bait a lot of blanka things, if hes the type to spam elec on wake up just safe tortilla, if he does up ball it should miss you. Dont bait too much you gotta apply pressure to put him in a situation where he feels he needs to do something, if you let up on him he’ll just back dash on wake up. I think this is a match you should turtle, but if he has no meter he cant up ball leaving to either elec jump or backdash on wake up so go nuts. Small tricks i do is play outside his jab ball range if he balls i throw our cr.jab which beats it clean, if it stops short it’ll poke him so he cant grab. Also assume blanka will do wake up ultra if you think hes desperate enough, cant trust those jungle warriors
