I haven’t been excited for any MA movie lately. I’ll watch a few on netflix that are good, but I miss being excited for something you knew was gunna be great.
There’s a lot of indie or filmed for the fuck of it MA movies comin out lately.
Also I’m sure Mareese Krump is well rounded but the way they did his fight with Tony Jaa (choreo + camera work) made them both look pretty lack luster.
What MA film are you getting excited for? I can’t stand another Ong Bak or Ip Man 6
There a white dude by the water cooler and another with his head through the door. Sammo has defo surpassed Jacky Chan on late imo, maybe cause of his lesser use of acrobatics meant his style isnt as dulled by age or something. Maybe cause he can star in darker style movies without looking like an asshole.
Dat Fatal Move ending…
Which I recommend you see, but if you havent and wanna know wtf is going on…
Spoiler
Sammo is a triad leader and Jung is his psycho underling who kills everybody for the lols, at the end of the movie everybody is fucked/ on the lam from the cops. Jing decides to take on the boss as he always though he wasnt as tough as people made out and the cops were seconds from storming their position anyway. Nigga thought wrong. After this Sammo charges the cops and goes out Fist of Fury style.
Was he training that guy throughout the movie? They both looked like they were having fun, and at the end, Sammo looked like he REALLY didn’t want to kill him. That looked like a deathmatch between student and teacher.
Yea it kinda was, not too give too much away but Sammo was a bouncer who worked his way up the ranks to become the boss of bosses and Jing was just a punk who got taken under his wing and become his best hitman eventually, Jing is pretty psycho in the movie though he gets it into his head that he is the best fighter in history and Sammo doesnt take the threat that serious and defo doesnt want to kill him cause of the family before all motif.
I thought it was funny how they made a live-action Tekken movie, most hated it, and when we heard the news of an official animation from the company. Everybody was like:
“Hell yeah! They’ll show’em how its done!”
And then we got Tekken: Blood Vengeance… and it was even WORSE than the live-action flick! The fight at the end was the only good part. The rest of it was awful.
Both utterly failed as Tekken adaptations but, at least the live-action movie succeeded on its own merits as a entertaining fight flick. It wasn’t bad at all and the cast was decent.
Finally watched Ip Man for the first time (bought the entire series at my job for $15 with my employee discount - almost three or four times cheaper than I would’ve bought it somewhere else). The film was rather linear in terms of the plot, which wasn’t bad at all, but I didn’t feel the “hype” that others felt when they saw it. To clarify, my friends who saw the film really hyped it up, but I didn’t get that "rush’ I tend to get from action films. Nonetheless, I liked it, and it’s the first movie I got out of the way of my personal marathon - Ip Man 2, Ip Man: The Final Fight, The Protector, and Badges of Fury.
Ip Man was imo pretty good, especially for a Donnie Yen movie (as some will know, I cant stand that sumbitch). Sequel got a bit silly but the MA was really good throughout which is what you want when you watch these kinda movies.
Havent seen this yet… Keanu Reeves as director… still havent forgiven him for that Ronin bs… anybody seen and have opinions?
I give a 4 or 5…It was a total meh throughout but the fight at the end w/Iko was like Mayweather vs Pacman just more disappointing…Then of course Kuna Reeves was so freaken stiff.
