The Martial Arts Movie Thread 2017 Donnie hates his fans

You gotta make it out to one of these gatherings sometime maxx. Or at least a visit to JAM

Apparently Sly has expressed interest in Chris Lambert (Highlander) and Jean Reno (Leon The Professional, Onimusha 3) for the next Expendables film. I say don’t add anyone else until you add Carl Weathers…

Rise of Legend trailer. A new story about Wong Fei Hung. I will be seeing this for sure.

the problem with jam is travis is a fucking asshole in planning these gatherings last minute. i wanna go but he announces them a month or less from the actual date. ive discussed this with him before, being on the east coast just is no bueno in terms of flights.

most gatherings give you 2-3 months or more. jam gatherings are like announce December 31…gather january 15th. do you you know how much a fucking plane ticket costs for such a short notice.

Rise of Legend looks bad. Too much bad make up, ketchup for blood? Too much CG stuff. Main character looks too weak.

Of course the main character looks weak, he is asian after all.

Stronger than you

Lol. Whatever man. Maybe he is stronger than jet li. He sure as hell looks taller. And not one person complained when he played Wong fei hong.

Weren’t there a few folks who played Wong Fei Hung though? I though Jet li did fine, but of course I like Chan’s version. But the trailer looks pretty good, I just hope it is better than Wrath of Vajra (that movie was a bit of a let down to me).

Also this movie Yasmine looks pretty cool.

Yeah Chan was probably the biggest one out of all of them too, so I don’t know why this schmuck is complaining. Give these new guys a chance shit, even Donnie Yen is 51 for fucksake.

Honestly Chan should have been transitioned to the mentor role. I mean the only times he has played a mentor was in the karate Kid remake and The Forbidden Kingdom (sort of).

wong fei hung has been done for 60+ years

Wasn’t John Woo supposed to make a Dynasty Warriors movie with Chow Yun Fat playing Cao Cao? (random I know).

So not really martial arts but this Revenge of the Green Dragons looks pretty good. Especially since the time period is the 80’s.

What is the point of this statement? Um, anyways…

I honestly want to see Chan go the Sammo route and play some fucking VILLAINS because I know he would be nasty as one.

it was more for dj than you. cause he sounded unsure about more than 1 person playing wong fei hung when its one of kung fu’s most classic heros.

Didn’t he play a villain in Young Tiger? I think I have the movie somewhere. it is crazy old but I believe he was a gang leader. or something.

Also if anyone has Crackle, they have a few martial arts films worth watching on there (best part is that its free).

  • The Myth
  • The Raid Redemption
  • Drunken Master
  • Kung Fu Hustle

There are a few more, but I can’t think of em right now, will probably post a list later.

Yeah but I want him to be the old man villain…Beating the shit out of all these young dudes.

Chan has stated in many interviews he doesnt wanna do villian stuff, ever. He turned away leathal weapon 4 cause of it and thats how the role got handed to jet ‘dont forget my fucking wires’ li.

Only time I remember Chan being a bad guy was in Rumble in Hong Kong or some such shit like that, and ofcourse Enter the Dragon if you wanna count that.

Jackie Chan was also a bad guy in Killer Meteors.

Jackie Chan explains why he turned down a role to appear in Exp1,2 & 3, says he might do 4 if…
