The MarsGatti Farewell/Peace Out Thread

lol@ Mars Overheading Canadiens literally.

Then you go back to GGPO and get ran through w/ the lube… no homo…

Again, if I remember correctly the best players generally play @ night… is it the same for the people on PSN?

PSN hours are kind of crazy. Most of the action seems to happen from 11-3am EST, but you can still find groups of good people on starting around 9. I blame California and their insistence on being in a different time zone.

Unless the new systems are BC with discs and can’t download previous non disc based games like HDR.

Nah it shouldnt be…especially during hte weekends.
And besides, 4pm is the evening kinda.

Update*
PSN kept cutting my room off, so i jioned someone elses room.
…:wasted:

Hmm…i guess that makes sense.
4-6pm for me is 12-2pm for West coast people.
They are prolly in church or sleeping in.

The last few posts in this thread are kinda funny.
Featuring amongst others our favorite homo-phobic Guile player.

SMQ still doesn’t realize that reversal throws after resets and wakeup beat meaties.

Ah you kids!
I try and get along with all you guys. It’s damn near impossible… Although I’ve pretty much given up paying attention to all the internet posturing anyway - I guess you guys all like it.
(BI0MAT’s option selection was kinda hilarious though).

Seriously though, I was thinking about this the other day about how no-one acted like they do on XBL and msg boards back in real life arcades, I know it’s obvious (and obvious why), but its always worth considering.

^ Yeah that exactly!

People like me mess it up, because I don’t want to act like a f**kwad and I don’t even especially WANT to be anonymous. (BTW that is my real name is on my XBL profile! If I could go back I would’ve just called myself Rik77077 or something… but I don’t wanna waste the MS points, heh).

Also, all the lag & turbo and arguments makes me more interested to move the HDR online tournaments more for new players - since the “who’s the best!!!111” will obviously never be answered online; however I like online tournaments for getting more players involved easily as well. It’s a tricky one.

Enjoying your SSFIV vids right now btw Shari. It’s funny to watch. I could teach you a bunch of the basics at SSFIV, but I am sure there are far better people than me to show you it.

Been playing SSFIV today. I’ll make this simple and break it up into key words.

Turtling Ultra Juggle Ryu Sagat Random Jab

I’m beginning to hate this game, but for some reason I want to play it. I like the character roster and the thought of having new stuff to learn is cool, but there is too much bullshit.

Ha, that shit was hilarious, Shari. I’m quite certain all of the posters in that thread besides Irrepressible and Chong are <17 years of age.

You have noooooooo idea. So many attacks are too safe and cannot be countered, and the timing on jump-kicking a projectile through is so strict that its insane. I mean, you can’t even punish Bison’s slide!! I played this Bison last night and I would anticipate his slide only for him to somehow block my punish. It will take me a while accept IV/SS.

Playing as or against El Fuerte in SSFIV makes me hate the world & everything in it. Seriously, is this a whole character designed around BS loops ?? Bring back knee bash loop please!

I think one of the main problems with this game is how easy it is to “parry” fireballs. I mean I was playing some Ryu player today (as Ken) and he just turtled and absorbed my fireballs lol. Then when I got bored of that, I went to start an attack and surprise I got a reversal and jab combos ensue. This is every SFIV match for me. I can deal with turtles, I mean Guile in HDR can turtle hardcore, but there are ways of making it uncomfortable for him. On SFIV the stages are so huge, fireballs so slow that you can easily absorb or avoid fireballs without any problem.

I mean what I find weird is that you can parry in SF3, but I don’t remember fireballs being so useless. Is it just that SFIV players are a bunch of turtling pussies, or is the game really this messed up?

Oh I’ve had a huge share of matches just like that Zero1 too. Especially when I play Guile. As I say, I’ve had Honda’s turtle on my Guile in that fashion. With Guile the answer to everything is EX moves though. Mix in some EX Booms which are ridiculously fast and it can sometimes break them out of their turtling a bit or at least get some damage as they mistime a Focus Attack.

Generally though, this is why I have to play a character that can get around the screen quickly somehow. If all you have is walk/jump towards it just gets SO boring against these kinda players. I am not sure which is less fun, fighting a SFIV turtle Akuma, or an SFIV looping Fuerte.

Fireballs are actually way more useless in SF3 though. Remy has an incredible fireball game which works great until I come up against someone decent at parrying, then it’s a complete waste of time. If you watch some vids of decent players, fireballs in SF3 are pretty much just long-range pokes (which isn’t very useful) or combo parts.

My Favorite Fighting Game Characters of All Time (in no particular order)

Gambit (Marvel series)
Dudley (SF3)
Jotaro (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure)
Hol Horse (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure)
Fei Long (SFA3/ST/HDR)
Sol Bad Guy (Guilty Gear series)
Riptor (Killer Instinct)
Sagat (SFA3)
Zero (TvC)
Robert Garcia (KoF '94)
K (KoF '99)
Johnny Maximum (World Heroes 2) A football player fighting while wearing a helmet has to be one of the greatest visuals ever.
Guy (SFA3)
Karin (SFA3)
Blanka (SF2 series)
The Scorpion (Saturday Night Slam Masters)
El Stingray (Saturday Night Slam Masters)
Johnny (Guilty Gear XX)
Black Polnareff (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure)
King (Tekken series)

Gambit shouldn’t count and Zero is borderline, LOL.

The Word Heroes series had a bunch of great characters (other than the two generic Ryu/Ken clones and token Bruce Lee look-a-like). Loved the idea of Rasputin battling it out in a fighting game.

Shari that is so true.
I was over my friends house yesterday, and was watching him play Call of Booty 2.
And he is a serious troll, but in real life he is the most mild mannered guy you could ever meet.
(keep in mind that i only play fighting games)
He ended up getting kicked out of a room because he had 25 kills and only 1 death.
:wasted:

Dont you mean short range pokes, Ryu’s ex fireball is pretty good at close range but you’re pretty much right about how useless fireballs really are, well except for akuma’s fireballs in SF:3, it dominates against some characters… he still takes damage like a bitch though…
