IIRC All of the Jojo’s characters are from a manga, and Guy is from Final Fight.
Yeah, I know that all of them didn’t necessarily originate in fighting games. Nevertheless, they were in fighting games and I like the way that they play in their respective games. I hope that demystifies the list.
Speaking of characters that didn’t originate in fighting games, anyone here play the Naruto games? I’m not a fan of the anime and I’ve never played any of the games, but there is a pretty decent scene for them here in Cinci for some reason. I’ve watched a few matches at tournies before and it looked like there was some depth there, though to be honest they could have been just button mashing, LOL. Just curious.
Have fun wading trough the massive ban list.
So more time putting in fan service than balancing, I’m assuming? I don’t play Brawl or Smash but it always amusses me when I read all the rules they have to artificially add to the game just to make it playable on a tournament level.
Here’s an example:
NA2 rules
Game Rules
- Double Elimination Brackets
- Sets are 2 out of 3 rounds, Finals are 3 out of 5, Grand Finals are 4 of 7
- Draw matches count as a victory round for BOTH players
- Round Time: 99 Count
- All other settings default
- Assists are banned. They are to be set to manual before the match to prevent accidental activation.
- Hiruko Sasori, Gai, PTS Lee, TS Kankuro, PTS Shino, TS Ino, Taijutsu Chiyo, Hanabi, Konohamaru are banned
- Winner Character Lock (winner of previous round cant switch characters)
- Loser Stage Selection (loser of previous round gets choice of stage)
- Pausing a match forfeits the round.
- No Transformation Selection (transformations must be EARNED with ougis)
IN-GAME RULES
- Time limit set to 99 secs.
- Seals default ougi mini game
- Items generation set to normal.
- Chakra is set to normal.
- No pausing in-game to disrupt match flow. This may result in a forfeit match.
- No jutsu customization is allowed except Nehan Shoza no Jutsu for Kabuto.
- All matches are played without handicap.
- Button mapping in tourney matches for all buttons except the Assist button is BANNED. All players must use the default button layout. A player may map the assist button to a button he does not use (L1) and set item switch to another.
- Any other disruption of match flow other than pausing the game is considered a forfeit.
- In the case of an in-game glitch that freezes the match (Double Rashomon near a wall or Tsukuyomi Ghost Glitch) both players may agree to repeat the match. If the glitch is intentionally done due to abuse, the match may be considered a forfeit.
- Infinite floating to above the stage (ceiling) or beyond reach in cliff stages is banned. A character with flying or floating capabilities (Deidara, Gaara, Kidomaru, Yondaime, PTS Drunk Lee, Kisame, etc) can only float up to the visible top of the stage, well within the each of the character due to Kawarimi or jumping. If the player hides in the non-visible area of the stage it may result in a forfeit.
- Anything that gives an intentional advantage to one player (controllers with turbo buttons, etc) is not allowed.
Character Select
- Transformed characters are not selectable from the start. You can only access transformed characters through natural progression (i.e., a character ougi leads to a corresponding transformed character).
- Players can switch characters between rounds.
- With Initial character selection both players can choose whoever they want.
- In succeeding rounds, the winner of the previous round has the first opportunity to select character, followed by the previous round’s loser.
- Character lock is optional and depends on the agreement of both players.
Banned List
- ALL ASSISTS ARE BANNED from tournament AND casual play. As a precaution, all assists must be set to MANUAL to prevent accidental activation.
- However, changing/choosing different assists to enable/disable a dual ougi or jutsu is allowed.
Stage Select
- Random stage select during first match or agreed upon stage between players.
- Loser of previous round has right to stage select.
- When one or both players selects TS-Temari in a tournament match, all stages with cliffs or pits cannot be selected.
- When one or both players selects TS-Shikamaru in a tournament match, the stage with tall grasses cannot be selected.
Wow, it would take longer to learn what is allowed than it would to actually play the game, LOL. Crazy.
I give IV a lot of shit for being a bad game, but damn, at least it’s not that bad.
SF4 should have rules like that.
Balrog is only allowed to be used on Mondays and Thursdays, and only on stages with children playing in the background.
And that’s actually not the entire rule list.
No ultras, Ryu only, Volcanic Rim.
Well guys it has been fun the good and some of the bad, HDR wise. I tried several characters in SSF4 and the game is just too terrible to play. I really hate it even when I am winning. What finally did me in was I was using Akuma and before I could get two crouching jabs in Dudley was able to focus level 2 attack me before the second jab could come out. Also Akuma is terrible online because if you miss a link due to lag then things are really bad for him. Really the engine is terrible and like I promised before if I really hate SSF4 then I am done with fighting games which I am.
Anyway I have no legit beef with any of you I just tried to liven up things sometimes so it did not feel like playing with bots.
Since I am not playing fighting games that means I am done with SRK also.
Wow… I mean that Naruto stuff is just ridiculous…
You know Smash takes a lot of crap, but as a game, I think its fun to play, I mean I’m not great at it or anything and I don’t pick Metaknight but I do think its fun with a couple friends just watching random awesome things happen. But I will say this, yeah to make it a game where you measure skill against skill requires a lot of rules, but the cool thing about Smash is that the flexibility in the ruleset is there and its at your fingertips. I think personally that’s kind of neat.
The new expansion for MTG:DOTP with the Nicol Bolas deck is completely insane.
They put a goddamn Reanimator deck in the game.
Turn 4: Goliath Sphinx ?
8/7 Flyer.
Good Game.
The naruto hero games have a decent amount of depth, but there are infinites if you burn all of your chakra and can’t get out of them.
So did Mr. Irrespressible become a troll?
He didn’t seem that bad before.
He was always that bad.
On the forum or on XBOX? He seemed to start slipping on the forum after the whole sagat vs. guile thing.
Both.
To the op, I have to admit, being a gamer in this life is hard. I can’t tell say how many times I’ve put down SF all together simply because it’s too addictive and there are just too many other important things in life. It’s kinda funny that I started back playing ST after a good while on GGPO today (yesterday being my first time playing there) and I came across a Grog vs Mars match, and then I see this thread the very same day. How strange/weird/crazy is that?!!! I’ve never heard about Mars before nor seen him on the forums (even though i haven’t spent much time on here), and i spectate this random match n here’s a guy pulling off all sorts of ridiculous combos and giving Grog’s Sim the fight of his life. I dunno, it was jus amazing, carry on.
no, shari is just angry cos I made a fool out of him on this forum and beat him online after he was running his mouth and throwing out challenges. The whole discourse is here

here is shari calling form the whaaaambulanmce:
“I’m just gonna go ahead and report you now and hope i never have to see you again.”
One other I’d like to add, Shari, the TV in those vids you post…I didnt know anybody still had TV’s like those with the bubble screen, didnt they become obsolete around 1985???
