I just have the Final Fantasy / CT / CC / Xenogears / OC Remix / Piano Collections soundtracks on contant loop in my office. Students come in and they’re like “Dr. Arnold, what in the world are you listening to?” I then have to explain this to them for 10 minutes in which they usually forget why they came to my office and leave… I find its a very effective way to tell students to not come to office hours… Well that last part only happens sometimes, when they actually come in to talk I’m polite enough to turn it down for a minute, but now I have students come to my office just to talk about my choice in music… College kids…
Bloody Tears Indeed.
Probably the best theme in Castlevania’s History.
I call your rock version and raise the piano version.

Heard it.
It’s not a rock version it’s from the original SOTN aka Akumaj? Dracula X: Gekka no Yas?kyoku soundtrack.
The rock version would Dracula Battle Perfect Selection 1

Where in the game is it? Or is it just not in the american version?
I only remember hearing a vampire killer remix when you fight richter, but I don’t remember ever hearing bloody tears anywhere.
Japan only Sega Saturn Version.
Still a total travesty that the penultimate version of such a magnificent game as SotN was never ported. One of the best games ever.
The Japan only Sega Saturn SOTN was horrible.
Castlevania music is indeed awesome. A number of those tunes remind me of Bach’s stuff, such as : the arpeggios and the pedal notes. Resemblance of Bach’s music is as much compliment I can give to a videogame theme.
You are probably thinking of Finale Toccata which has parts of exactly that piece.

Penultimate? Best to avoid words you’re not familiar with the usage of… Anyway, I think the Sega Saturn Gekka no Yasoukyoku is the best version actually. Some of the graphics from this hasty port can’t compare and the new areas are disappointing but the mere presence of additional elements makes it better for me (and the loading times are much exaggerated by folks who haven’t played much/at all). Plus, just having an actual run for Alucard instead of constant backdashing is reason enough. It’s like why I appreciate the DC version of ST for its practice mode even though the upscaled graphics look awful next to the arcade version.
Oh yeah, Castlevania music has always been really solid; I’m partisan towards Vampire Killer’s (Bloodlines) amazing use of the Mega Drive’s weak, synthetic-sounding sound chip.
Yeah bitches, Alpha Protocol looks awesome. I really hope it scores and sells well, its first of its kind. Will be buying on day one.
Alpha Protocol is on top of my Queue at Gamefly and I’m keeping a slot open so that I can make sure I get a copy on release day. All this Castlevania talk… I guess I never could get into it…
The Handheld RPG/Metroid style ones are very easy to get into and are really good.
Try Order of Ecclesia that game is just wonderful.

Figures, but its cool, we got emerald and ruby weapon. So it balances out.
Castlevania 2 was the original rpg castlevania, I never liked the arcade ones all that much.
I played the gba ones, but never got a chance to play the ds ones.
I wish ArcSys would stop hating European Money.
Castlevania 2 was also horrible.
In terms of GBA Aria of Sorrow is easily the best one for that console.
Personally, my favorite Castlevania theme is Wicked Child.
It wasn’t that horrible, I had a lot of fun with it.
It even had a day night system. That’s pretty good for a nes game.
