WERCOME TO YOUR DOOM
Legend of Dragoon, man, that’s another game that could have used a great sequel Shari. The combat mechanics and the combo system were actually really cool. The story was surprisingly good as well.
“Welcome to your doom!” LOL. Altered Beast was the very first game I ever played when I got my Sega Genesis followed closely by Golden Axe which I beasted I don’t know how many times… I was so easy to please as a child…
Which one of you ma fuckas is getting SSF4 tomorrow?
I’ll get a copy from Gamefly whenever it arrives… hopefully I’ll find a character I can play in Super, but I’m not holding my breath since combos aren’t exactly my strong suit…
One of the worst things about SF4 imo was the lack of quarter rooms. That’s pretty much why I stopped caring about SF4 when I heard SSF4 was coming out with this feature. Can’t wait to get killed because I keep trying to play SF4 characters like I do in ST.
See and I get killed because I can’t cancel like cr. mk into fireball… I mean I guess I should say I can’t do it under any type of pressure… and I certainly can’t do it on this stick… I really want to throw this thing off my roof…
Screw SSF4.
SF2 4 life.
You just like playing a game where Vega doesn’t suck lol.
Nah, we know Shari’s committed. I feel like I want to at least give Super a chance though. In Indianapolis, SF4 is the only game that’s really played widely around here and if I don’t play 4 at least on some level that resembles marginally competent, my only recourse is going to be online HDR, which in my new house is terrible because I have to play on wireless and that just screws everything up…
True.
I felt the same way. Also I can’t get passed the ridiculously goofy looking character models. Capcom did a great job with Resident Evil why not do the same with SF4.
This is something i have brought up earlier.
SF4 does not have SF characters.
It has parodies of SF characters.
I’ll buy it, but probably not for a week or two. I’m in no big hurry to buy it just so i can ignore it while playing HDR, LOL.
On a similiar subject (to derail the derailment back to it’s original derailment), not to go all “things were better back in the day”, but after talking about and playing all these classics made me realize; Games today look awesome and you can do things in them that you never could before, but very few of them are really FUN. GTA4, for example, looks nice and gives you lots of freedom, but isn’t actually any fun.
Not that there wasn’t a ton of dreck back then either, it just seems that even some of the games that are considered “great” today really aren’t a ton of fun, and I know I won’t be playing them in a year or two, much less over a decade later. Especially considering most are just yearly updated FPS’s. It just seems like they are focusing more on graphics and overwhelming amounts of player “freedom” and multiplayer options, instead of focusing on tight gameplay. The only console (non-fighting) games from this generation that I can put up with my all time favorites are Metal Gear Solid 4 and Gears of War 2 (I know, GOW2? But you know the gameplay is good when the most played mode (Horde mode) is just straight, nonstop gameplay, no story or filler).
That’s why I love XBLA and PSN. Old school games that just focus on fun. Castle Crashers, Shadow Complex, Pain, etc. I don’t have much time for the 8,000 quests in Oblivion, so I often just jump into An XBLA or PSN game to have some quick fun.
Castle Crashers… now that’s a good time! If I knew some other people on here were playing some Castle Crashers I’d be all over that!
Just a note to Vega players: our “sexually confused” (Thanks, Silver Rain) matador has received some buffs in SSF4, reports so far say he is mid-tier. I had some fun using him in IV but I ended up playing him the HDR way.
EDIT: By the way - you should all get Perfect Dark for XBLA. I play it frequently and would love to participate in some fragging with you guys (no homo).
If, somehow someway, Dalton, from 1989 Patrick Swayze vehicle “Roadhouse”, was a playable character in SSFIV with a taunt where he says “Pain don’t hurt”, then I would drop HDR in A SECOND. Hell, I would drop out of med school to dedicate myself to playing Super night and day.
However, because “The Swayz” is nowhere to be found (as far as we know), I will not be purchasing the game.
Vega is improved in Super to say the least.
Look, Vega’s just been going through a ‘self-discovery’ phase. He’ll grow out of it eventually… I mean he must have figured it out or died since he’s not in SF3 right? lol.
Yeah, actually the whole idea of Vega been close to Dan tier to maybe mid makes me think of a comment once about Vega in SF4 development. At one point he was like #2 internally at Capcom and they felt they had to tone him down and they went too far and made him garbage… I wonder if making him mid tier just meant flipping some of the switches they turned off in 4? Also, it makes a good point about how hard balancing really can be…
SF4 Vega makes no sense just from a design standpoint.
His main real weakness is that scarlet terror is complete crap and so he has no genuine anti air defense and therefore no real way to stop pressure.
That coupled with his damn mask yeah…
Scarlet Terror should always be good just from a design standpoint.
Because it is the most restrictive move in the game as far as i know outside of super/ultra moves.
It requires a diagonal charge which VERY few moves do.
Therefore just in the same way that a Sonic Boom should from a design standpoint have better properties than a Fireball so should Scarlet Terror.
All I know is… until I can find a character who can actually poke and has some decent footsies (of course by SF2 standards no one has that…)… I’m doomed.
