Now I’m starting to wonder if Xiaoyu is better as anchor. If so, then I may try out Julia/Xiaoyu and Poison/King (Team Glitter and Gold).
Really liking Juri / Xiao. Juri has no issues getting in and can play the long-range game well. She has a high damage super that complements Xiao’s low damage one rather well. Really easily to tag Xiao in on a HK pinwheel. Just tag her ASAP and then continue walking forward until they start to drop down from the pinwheel, do st.mp or cr.hp (distance based) and cancel into phoenix kicks.
So I tried a little bit of Xiaoyu/Julia and I got some neat combos (but nothing too damaging).
(Julia) DK > Tag, (Xiaoyu) MP Hakkesho, Phoenix Breakdance.
(Xiaoyu) HK Phoenix Talon > Tag, (Julia) Kalda, Mountain Crusher > Tiger Strike
In terms of damage output, this team might do better than Xiaoyu/King. Neither of which have the footsies tools for the beginning of the fight and the ways to tag into them for damaging combos is rather limited. Julia has way better normals than either of them in terms of range. So, I think for this team, Xiaoyu is better off as the anchor since she has a tough time getting in.
Then, there was Poison/King which let me go from Poison’s DK into two knees, st.HP > Running Jaguar Bomb.
I posted this combo for Julia in my original post.
Julia: j.:hk:, land, cl.:hk:, cr.:hp: xx :qcb:+:p: or :qcb:+:p::p:**:p:
I’m actually trying to make Julia work as well. But I’m having the feeling that they both lose out to characters like Dhalsim or anyone who plays real lame.
I use Vega/Xiaoyu and I’m thinking about Xiao/Poison. Claw has his ways of moving into the opponents range and Ling is Ling.
I just hate that Vega here is Untraining me from my SSFIVAE…I went back the other day at my local arcade and couldn’t play him anymore. I need to practice more --_–.
Rolling crystal flash holds the opponent down for long enough to decide what mix up you want with Xiao. The only issue is neither of the two have reversal options…Totally okay with that though.
Well, if Xiaoyu reads right, she does have EX Shooting Star and EX Back Layout. Julia also has invincibility on the EX versions of her command dash. Yeah, it costs meter, but it’s better than nothing.
Pretty sure back layout (after startup) beats sims airborne pokes. It’s actually a pretty good air-to-air tool.
Julia has some nasty tech and like 3 super dirty launcher resets, my friend will kill me if I share them but they’re there! Go figure em out
Xie xie, will look.
I feel like her runback potential is pretty weak. Certain types of characters will just be able to shut her down once they gain the life lead
I’ve been running Chris G’s team of Hwoarang/Xiao and I’ve been trying Xiao/Kazuya(orJin). I use her with Hwoarang and as anchor because Hwoarang has very safe strings and can do good damage and then easily tag cancel from his qcb.HK into Xiao’s Hakkesho or qcf.LP or down.3Punches into qcf.HK. I use the same strategy with Kazuya and Jin except with Jin I space and zone more with his fireball and I apply more pressure Kazuya
Nobody is perfect, Xiaoyu falters with her pokes and wakeup game, and it seems she is more of an anchor as opposed to a point character, so generally if she is used as an anchor, she can be tagged in, and then do her cr.HK loop, which after it is over, it is safe to tag out normally, so you can keep her safe this way.
Oh Eff word! I just visited the Ibuki thread because I was reading through my SFxT guide and just happened to stubble upon a video with Xiao and Ibuki… NOW!! I understand why some of you in here were using this squad! At a decent level the two move so fast, you’re opponent would be dumbfounded! I mean, this is just my observation from that video, but still… I think I want to try this team out now! I’ve been playing with Asuka for a few days and getting really good with her, but who says I can’t I have two teams, right?
Capcom agrees with you.
Ditto! I think I’ll try out this team to.
Hey, Kuma, do you have LIVE? We could train together if were working around the same thing, yeah?
Also, are you adequate with either of the two characters. It’s hard for me to adapt to Ibuki having directions in her target combos plus different properties for her moves now. Her neck breaker now goes under high fireballs, while her EX goes through all of them. I’m gonna test to see if her dash goes through them as well today.
EDIT: With the partner toggles on the first post, I think we should add not only the tag combos for that character, but the pro’s/con’s and how the team covers each other in general. I read in this thread an Ibuki/Xiao and Chun/Xiao pro and con list. Those should be added to the top as well.
Also, with Ibuki/Xiao, they have pretty low health together, but compensate for it by beating the opponents ass and making it look easy (When we all know it’s not). But due to that fact, exactly how does the team… work, per say. I’ve been trying to play Ibuki and it seems difficult for me to get in their face unless they whiff fireballs. Maybe I’m not playing her right? I never played 3rd strike so I can’t compare her to the sort, but a Dhalsim wrecked me the other day so I’m a bit cautious of dashing in and kicking my opponent now. Dear SRK family, what should I do? (lol Amanda show)
PLAY THE STINKING GAME!!!
I do have LIVE (KumaOso), but I don’t know where my mic’s charger is at the moment so I can’t talk through LIVE, BUT Skype is another option. Unfortunately, I can’t say I’m proficient in either, but we can learn together.
lmao! I’m glad someone got it! Well I’m gonna send the invite after this post. I wanna get at least a few BnB’s down with the squad, Skpye is an option. My Mic sucks anyway, so I’m gonna have to wait a while before I can get something like turtle beaches or a wireless headset. 360’s are bluetooth enabled right? I just got one a few weeks ago.
Well, I can’t spend too much time training as I got an Economics exam on Monday. Not only that, but it’s been a coin flip as of late whether my college’s internet will let me in. It’s been like that lately.
I’ll PM you in advance when I’m available.
Ibuki/Xiao is a really fun team and also a very Santeros one I feel. Ibuki allows for good damage and good set ups for Xiao and her HK loop.
