This is SRK. Are you surprised? It doesn’t help though that there are only handful of girls in the game that aren’t Asian: Nina, Cammy, Julia, Lili, and probably Poison.
@Kupo
The last two you mentioned are most definitely guys. I think a Xiaoyu/King team has potential.
lol well you can add another ibuki player to the list i used her in 3s and sf4
but yeah i decided to use ibuki/xiao for my alt team, which oddly enough is getting more time then my main team of poison/asuka but that’s probably because of execution requirements
i want to steal all of soulsynapse’s stuff
oh also i’m not exactly sure who i feel more confident with starting i’m leaning more towards xiao after my last couple of matches but i’ve been using ibuki to start things off for the most part
I know someone mentioned Xiao/Nina in here, but what’s everyones take on that? Does Nina have the means to get in, deal the heavy damage she does, then tag for Xiao? Anyone see some synergy going on here? They both have low health, possibly poor wake up game, and no reversals. Tough, no?
I’m running Abel with Xiaoyu after maining him in SF4. He has good footsies to get in and decent damage output. Shame I suck incredibly with Ling right now, you can really tell she has a lot of potential though.
lol I know they are guys xP It is just that I was listing every person Xiao was paired with thus far to contrast the guy to girl ratio…
Actually, from the little people know of the game, right now, Nina is up there with other characters who are among the best characters in the game. I know Nina can deal damage easily with little or no meter, which saves a lot for Xiao. Also, she can dodge projectiles while moves forward like mist step which is probably one of the best punishes in the game seeing as you are moving towards them while avoiding their attack (as opposed to how Xiaoyu is stationary minus a little movement with :mk: or :hk:). Nina can build meter quickly which compliments Xiaoyu’s need for EX to punish full screen, and Nina has decent speed with her moves and can lead into or out of damaging combos. Honestly, I’ve been considering Nina and Xiaoyu for a while, but I really don’t want to give up my Chun
As much as I wanted to play a Tekken team, I went back to Ryu. Ryu is looking real good on anchor. He can play footsies, apply pressure with cr.:rh: xx CADC, and has a great anti-air. If you’re behind on life, Ryu has decent comeback potential. And if you have the life lead, he can definitely turtle you out. Here’s a combo he can do on tag in after Phoenix Talon
j.:hk:, (land), cr.:hp:, CADC, cr.:hp: xx :qcf:+:p: or :qcf:+:p::p::p:
Man… Eff Word Ryu! I have so much dislike for that OP shoryuken masher in this game. Now onto my actual post; I was playing with Xiao/Nina today and the two work awesome…! I’m pretty positive in sticking with this team. I even learned the timing for Nina’s dash grab.
I’m finding that Xiaoyu’s :d:+:p::p::p:, :hk: is really safe for tagging out and applying pressure if they block. Because it hits low, it would be a great time to throw an overhead with your incoming character. As far as I know, the system seems to prevent unblockables, but this move still gives time for a mixup by the time Xiaoyu’s move ends. This would seem really devestating with characters that can combo off overhead or low.
I’ve tested this with Ryu and he can’t mash dp out of :d:+:p::p::p:, :hk:, and if fast enough, the opponent has to block the overhead or low mixup after.
I could also see this as a good setup for those characters with command throws that only catch crouching characters. i.e. King.
:d:+:p::p::p:, :hk: is definitely looking like a really good tag cancel out when you can’t hit-confirm into launcher or team super.
Also, since the thread was stickied, I should maybe clean up the first post and compile everyone’s opinions on partners.
ok, so what is the more popular partner for xiao? Xiao is currently the only char I like in this game, so I’m having trouble finding someone to run with her.
While we are discussing combos for characters, a really easy combo for Chun on tag in is back +:mk:, :mk:, jump cancel, :hk:, cl.:hk: xx H hazanshu. Sorry about not having the arrows, how do you type in the arrows without clicking on them in the drop down bar?
Do you guys think it’s easy or hard to “get in” with Xaioyu. I’m interesting in pairing her with a grappler because it seems easy to set up tag-ins with her to get the grappler in, and she seems to be able to close the gap easily if you’re patient.
Compared with all the people in the game, Xiaoyu is mid at best when it comes I getting in. If dealing with keeps ways that spam projectiles is your problem, Xiaoyu can reflect them or duck under most of them (not Sagat or Toro), however she still doesn’t have amazing pokes like Chun or an easy way to get in. I honestly think her paired with a grappler is dangerous.
the commands for arrows are “b”, “db”, “d”, “df”, “f”, “uf”, “u”, “ub”, “qcf”, “qcb”, “hcf”, “hcb”, and “360”, replace quotation marks with colons. I’ll add the combo as well.
