The KOF Cup 2011 with Hummer from Japan in Mexico/Mexico vs. Japan Discussion thread

well dustloop and its community has been around way before bb hasn’t it?! it’s because of Guilty Gear and if i’m not mistaken that game doesn’t have a port with good net code up to this day.

The problem is history. SNK/KOF is stronger on smaller countries due to the old school arcade days, where arcade center owners could buy MVS setups cheaper than CPS2 or CPS3 setups. It helped a lot to popularize the SNK games. USA on the contrary, always been a Capcom country, so all we see nowadays are a mirror of the past history of each country. It’s hard to change it and maybe it will never change.

Both of what these guys are saying is true.

Here are the 3rd and 4th parts of Hummer vs. Esteban:

Just wanted to update everyone: Me and JDash are cool, we are talking everything out right now, it was one big misunderstanding. Listen to whatever he may be telling you right now, the real people I need to gun down are Norm and JTO, and it’s because of their ignorance. These are people that still think my #1 focus is the USA, and because they are cave dwellers it seems, they don’t realize not only has my focus changed, but I am by no means commanded to attend Final Round. So we are trying to see if since they wanna play me that bad, they can come to Dallas and I will give them their wish. I hear Norm wants to play me in a MM in 2002 UM, I was telling JDash man that is a bad mistake, I’m going through the game now and since the Mexico trip I have some even nastier stuff that I didn’t have before so he probably doesn’t want to money match me in 2002 UM right now, but if he does I will gladly do it!!!

I will certainly keep you all posted as more develops.

Ok,

 1. Why when I said something it becomes a natural disaster or something. Take the whole thing I said, not bits and pieces. I said that because many in the southeast been wanting to MM DG. Hell, everyone in the southeast that played SNK was hitting me up about DG. I said that because these people were hungry for him.

 2. What is with people talking behind my back? Norm was around me after that saying that DG didn’t want to see him. I said are you going to put money on that homie? And he said JTO and him had that hidden technology. I rep my area, and I am not ashamed to say that. It’s just sad to me that they were not able to play, and I was mad.

 3. Certain people in this thread should have hit me up if they had a problem. I’m not hard to find. Communication is key. I nowhere say that DG was trash. Where did that get mentioned?

Does DG need to MM some of the southeast best, YES. Do i need to play SNK more, maybe.

Oh, the reason we were on that page on the stream was that Art said shoutouts to DG, DRN said stuff then I said stuff. There was no rant session. Oh, but no one in this thread saw me up at 8am running MBAA and doing commentary, no one talks about that but everyone talks about those two sentences. This is fucked up man.

Well next video I upload before Hummer vs. Skato is gonna be an “intimidation” video briefly to Norm and JTO, since I don’t have anyone to play around here yet I am going to showcase just a little bit of the new things I have in 2k2UM then I’ll be back to the regularly schedule programming. It’ll be another “The KOF Cup 2011” commercial type/skit type of thing…

Sup DG, fasic is back in business

All of this is practical in a match…

JTO and Norm the Storm ain’t ready…spread that message JDash…but I’d be more than happy to take their money!=)

Next up is Hummer vs. Skato!

The first video of Hummer vs. Skato FT7:

thanx for the vids, cant wait to see the kula zeus ones.

also i think another part of the problem is most people in the US preffered sf and even shit like mk over kof/snk games. and later on when the later really good kofs came out (97 onwards) the US had already failed and would probably never be good at the games. i know theres certain players like ash from dc and mr kof among others who do play and play really solid actually. but i think for the general part kof just aint american enough, from what ive seen from evo and even heard from pro players from the US, the US are lamers generally. most of the people who are good in the US turtle like crazy. i think i heard sabin say people on the east coast lame it out even more so than the rest. get 1 hit in and turtle the match away. in kof, you can turtle to a certain degree, but it takes a lot more skill than in sf games (especially sf4 series). i think most people in the US just dont have the mind state to play an aggressive game like kof and find it way too challenging, in kof amatuers get eaten up by pros. the gab is too huge, its like sf3ts in that matter imo. you need skills to perform, you cant just lame it out as easily as in sf. the steep learning curve is probably another thing whats keeping new players from playing kof. and the funny thing is, when you actually give the games the time they deserve they are very doable and anybody can get good in them. you just need to be creative and motivated. one of the reasons i give huge props to dakou and xiaohai is they excel soo fucking hard in their offense the literally just break their foes appart. shits lovely.

shit last edit: i think i typed zeus wrong 3 times, lol.

final last edit, lol. loving those matches man, i honestly feel like zeus seems like the better player of the 2, but kula is one bad ass motherfucker as well. not taking anything away from kula ofcourse.

seems kulas anhel is meaner than zeus’s.

damn, zeus getting smoked. he cant handle anhel even though hes using her as his main as well.

i gotta say i dont agree with you about kula being the better overal player. i think zeus is better but has a harder time facing kulas anhel. their skills are relativelly close to each other and i think it could normally go either way, but if i had to chose one who seems to be more skilled id go with zeus. if he learns how to handle kulas anhel i dont think theres a whole lot kula can do to him. the reason kula can go toe to toe with him is because of his anhel (probably one of the best i the world).

The reason we all agree Kula is the better player overall right now, is because not only has he defeated Zeus in a personal match ft15, but he has still won more tournaments that Zeus. It’s like Justin Wong and Sanford Kelly in Mvc2 etc, Justin still has more tournament wins than Sanford, but Sanford is right up there and can beat Justin!

About the other stuff, I have noticed that too…people don’t wanna put the work necessary to really get good at KOF, which is their loss. They think it’s a get good quick type of thing, and they gotta understand experience goes a LONGGGGGGGG WAY in KOF, you can’t just sit at home online all day long, not travel to go play people, and hope to ever truly bridge the gap between those that travel/have access to REAL LIFE EXCELLENT COMPETITION and those that do not.

You in so many words said what I’ve been trying to say, again until people start travelling it doesn’t matter how often you play KOF13 or if it’s seriously played at all, all I gotta do is bring someone out of Mexico and it’ll be like how it used to be in SF all the time at EVO, Japanese player owns 95% of Americans for free period.

Why is that? I’ve discussed that before Musolini highlights it again, the gap between the haves and have-nots in KOF is very very wide and if people aren’t going to travel, then again things are going to continue to stay status quo esp. in KOF because experience and exposure are probably the #1 factors in KOF. I mean what happens if I master Angel in 2002 UM all of a sudden? Then pretty much everyone in the USA is done without question because NO ONE PLAYS HER IN THE USA…so that inexposure would ultimately do 98% of people in the USA in!

Look at Hummer for example, in Japan he is ranked #10, but in Mexico Hummer is Mid Tier with all the other skill that was there…

The only people he beat in personal matches were the Mid Tier players:

Severo, Esteban, Kihara.

Yes Esteban…he doesn’t play 2002 anymore, so he is mid tier, he doesn’t have an interest to train anymore in it, so yes he’s mid tier.

So again, though Norm may have been practicing a lot and may have gotten a lot better (and I don’t doubt it), has he been playing against the same type of skill I have been playing in Mexico? I highly doubt it, so it’s gonna come down to for Norm the stuff he doesn’t know that will ultimately do him in, which means I would be able to pick various characters and play them Mexican style and it would take him a long time to deal with that! By the time he remotely learns how to play against my style, the match is over I’m walking away with the money! That’s how it works guys!

Hummer vs. Skato part II:

i play angel

You are one of maybe like 3-4 people in the USA max that play Angel…and that isn’t good enough for someone to learn how to face against a top tier character in both 2002 and 2002 UM…

I mean hell in 2002 UM I discovered even though she doesn’t have her infinite she can still with a BC combo take off 50% (a juggle one ending in cancel to combo super) of your health in the corner…and thats just for 2 bars!!! She’s still top tier, the problem again is in the USA and Japan and other match videos you guys have been seeing, you simply haven’t seen enough of her to know what she is capable of in 2002 UM!

who ranked him #10? himself?

Here is the Final between Skato and Hummer:

Question for everyone: Why do you think Hummer did well against Skato though he lost?

Because in Japan like every team is the following:

Kim-Billy-Choi. Skato’s team is Kim-Billy-Iori, so again he has quite a bit of exposure and experience fighting against Kim and Billy.

Has Esteban quit KOF seriously altogether? Or has he moved on to other games?

DG, are you going to evo, I will be there this year. let me know if you go or not. And if you will organize a tourney.

He’s quit he’s focusing on school, in the Battle 4 Mexico 2010 interview he mentions that he has quit already due to school.

I won’t be at EVO you can rest assured on that…me and Oscar’s tourney in TJ is gonna trump that from an SNK standpoint certainly to the point where EVO is no longer remotely a concern… (Never was for me unless 13 was gonna be present, and not even remotely now for Oscar)

Hummer vs. Zeus FT10 Part I:

I won’t be at EVO you can rest assured on that…

You must think I am just an online scrub! Guess you are half right, half wrong. Before I was playing out of stress as a foreigner. So I pretty much think you will have had the better of me. Still, I wanted to play you to see just how strong you are.
Now I haven’t played in a while but my training will be humongous. Guess I will have to settle things down with Real Kim and his crew on June 14 to June 15 in LA, There is a super tourney coming up there. for SSF4.

Who is Oscar? you rarely talks good of other player, he must be giving you hard time I suppose.

What? I don’t get it where you think I think you are just a online scrub? You can still play me…just 90% of my time is spent in Mexico. Or wait…if you are in California…you can play me when I arrive in Cali to help with the tournament we are doing before we cross to TJ, Mexico. I will be in the LA/Santa Ana area so you can hit me up and we can play Thursday the 30th of June.

Oscar is THE ANSWER, me, him, Team Lago, No. 17, are planning this monstrous event in Mexico.

In regards to who is giving me a hard time now?

K-U-L-A.

But I wouldn’t have it any other way, I feel I am closing down on him in KOFXI and 98UM. Though he beat me 5-0 in 98UM, the matches were a lot closer (than Battle 4 Mexico 2010) as 3 months to study those matches told me some telling info about his tendencies with him team(s).

No longer does his EX Geese really give me problems. I feel I can handle his Saisyu, EX Geese, and Mr. Big… His Iori and Krauser (right now moreso Iori than Krauser by far and away!) are the biggest problems right now so I’ve been going back to work on ways to combat them!

In KOFXI, same thing, his Ryo and Duck King don’t give me that hard of a time anymore. It’s now his Oswald that gives me the toughest time, and this comes with me having played him before and had 3 months to study his match videos…

But you will see these videos before I upload any video of the OFFICIAL 2002 TOURNAMENT…all MacBook footage in NGBC (Yes me vs. Kula one match I won 1-0 lol), SvC Chaos (Me vs. Kula extra casual, Bart, Andres, Daniel, Lalo, Kane9999, Evan) KOFXI and 98UM will go up before a lick of 2002 official tournament footage goes up.

2002 tournament footage will be the end of the tournament.
