The King of Fighters 2002: Unlimited Match Thread

Well that post wasn’t really directed to you at all…I speak on behalf of things I’ve seen and heard from Americans here (not mentioning names they know who they are!)…so I took it as my opportunity to set the record straight for those THAT CARE in regards to the difference between 2002 PS2/XBOX and 2002 Arcade. I’ve heard BS come from the mouths of “Top players” about the controls of KOF 2002 when they’ve only touched it on the PS2 version…

So alot of misinformation has been going around about KOF 2002…and this is the same stuff that is going around about other games…how we don’t get to see the real light unless we get a Neo Geo…

I remember at the first Final Round I went to I showed Return of Shiki and others the difference between the PS2 version of Last Blade 1 and 2 and the Arcade version from just a graphical perspective…

And they were in awe just how different it was…that’s my point…most people don’t know this stuff…at the time they believed that this is something that more need to see.

Now sure this issue would be erased if SNKP took more time on their ports and got it right the first time…

Whats even worse than KOF 2002 as a home port? KOF 2001…OMFG…Totally unplayable…on console…

:annoy:

-DG

Now that’s true, I like it but it is unplayable on console and fustrating too. You can’t really hurt those who haven’t touched the arcade ver. of KOF titles cause the sad fact is that it’s not booming in NA as in it isn’t like it was in the early 90’s

Last Blade I own on both DC and PSTwo (Import) Graphical wise it is very apparent that can apply for a lot of fighters not just SNK

For instance Capcom vs. SNK 1 It’s god awful on the PSOne but DC and Arcade ver. it looks fantastic on a graphical level. Plays better too.

Thats true…but I realize some people speak on behalf of ignorance due to having only played the console version of the game…and that ignorance spreads fast like wildfire and then becomes a “belief.” (Then they look down on those from other countries not understanding how they could possibly play that game due to the version they have!) So I wanna make sure to bite it in the butt and make sure people have the facts straight in regards to the games. KOF2001 I don’t mind the game either, sure it has its problems (Even on arcade  ), but the PS2 and DC versions equally are unplayable.

I blame SNKP for this problem…if they wouldve gotten it right in the first place we wouldnt be having this debate.

NeoWave is safe to say a 90% perfect arcade port so I can deal with that…the controls aren’t arcade perfect…and a couple other minor issues but its at least playable…

Also the issue is some people grew on KOFXI…which has arguably the loosest controls of any KOF…so they go play 98UM even and these other older ones and then the first thing they complain about?

The controls lol.

-DG

they’re putting more effort in this game for obvious reasons. 2k2 is the ugliest kof ever but still is the most played kof in the world.

I don’t know why snk isn’t considering the idea for an arcade port

I know exactly why…you want me to tell you why??

SNKp is not considering an arcade port for a while because:

**
IT WOULD STEAL THE THUNDER FROM KOFXII…**

Think long and hard about that-

We know KOF 2002 is the most played KOF in the world…and due to this we know they are putting all their time into KOFXII…SO…

They wouldnt want all their hard work to go down the drain and KOFXII mostly be seen and played by the fanboys, Americans lol and dabblers and others that are “new” to KOF…

You follow me?

I’ve talked to many other countries and they’ve told me not only are they looking forward to this more than KOFXII…but if there was an arcade of this next to KOFXII, this would get wayyyyyyy more play.

I am sure SNKp knows this…thus its going straight to console…( I have inside knowledge on this too btw)

-DG

See it’s all this is what’s making reconsider the game a lot

yeah that’s probably the cause, many people refuses to play anything new.

I saw it with kof xi, 2k2 players didn’t bother to play it. They rather play their 2k2 plus machines. I even heard from someone saying kof xi was a pirated game, LMAO

I hope snk will release the game in arcades later on, maybe when kof xii gains enough momentum

IDK, XII is shaping up good IMHO compare to the first vids of gameplay almost a year ago, So I’m not worried about it.

What do you mean? I just spit the truth even if it’s blunt lol. SNKp doesnt make their money in America…

They make their money in other countries…and thus it is what it is that they’d have to put their beloved 2002 against KOFXII…and they don’t wanna do that…

Most of the people that don’t think this is an issue more than likely aren’t diehard KOF players…thats the truth. Let’s face it, KOFXII is made for a different audience

The reason a lot is banking on KOFXII is because its trying to appeal to this audience in order to make more cash…(which they failed to do so with the MI series unfortunately)

Yeah their love for the older games is killing the steam SNKp wants in regards for KOFXII.

It would behoove SNKp to later on release 2002 UM on arcade.

I like KOFXII…but I hope other countries will since thats whats keeping SNKp afloat right now (in addition to Metal Slug etc)

Question- Have you all had much discussion about Isolde (The girl with Nameless, she’s in the black and red 3rd pic take a look) yet?

It’s nothing bad, I just mean to give 2k2 UM a real shot that’s all I meant

Edit: THat image with Clark and Ralf in it, that mhuy Thai person in the BG looks like Sagat

Oh okay cool…yeah I’m taking the love I had for NeoWave and putting it into 2002 UM…because like I say remember I am like you…2002 OG didnt really strike me either…

Have you all talked much about what we believe to be a secret character in the game? (Isolde)

http://cyberfanatix.com/forums.php?m=posts&p=118691#118691

DaveNk- That person in the background is Hwai Jai I believe (my spelling may be incorrect) He’s in Fatal Fury 1…

No ones been talking about Isolde. She was swept away with the posts on changes and the awesome artwork.

RE:Controls. I was greatly pissed when I popped in KOF2k2/2k3 and proceeded to play 2k2. The controls were horrible. Like unplayable. I retried it as soon as I got my laptop and I could tell right away the controls were better. Not as good as 2k3/XI but better.

Kind of funny “Nameless gloves is named Isolde”

It’s the first time I’ve seen the image, I want to say it looks similar to the female in KOF’03 and XI in adelheid ending.

But like i said in my previous post , notice the sagat cameo :stuck_out_tongue:

That guy in the cameo is Hwai Jai (The name may not be totally correct)…Joe’s rival in Fatal Fury 1 and he beats him up in the Anime also lol.

Yeah I caught about Isolde being his glove, but I also have seen other pics where she is in his actual move/special (Nameless’s) so if I was gonna go on a hunch…I’d say she’s PROBABLY playable in the game somewhere…

-DG

Another cameo.

Huh, really, lol, he does look like sagat.

I’m sure there might be a connection between the two. I’m someone on cyberfanatix will find out something

Here’s some food for thought for all of you…I proposed this in cx.com=

TOURNAMENT RULES…

Since there is NO arcade release of this yet…we are gonna have to form our own tournament rules in this game about who is allowed and who isn’t.

What I hope makes it easier is that SNKp has “who isnt supposed to be tournament legal” obvious like they do in 98UM…if not it’s gonna be very difficult coming to agreement one who needs to be used and who doesn’t…

I mean what if I go to Final Round (2 weeks after the game is released) and by some miracle I have time to run a 2k2UM tournament???

-DG

Easily all the boss characters are out of the question hands down.

However, define boss…

Because let’s assume Geese and Young Geese are hidden characters…I thought for sure Krizalid, O.Zero, Zero, Igniz, O. Rugal would surely get banned…but then we gotta talk about the other secret characters…

Its plausible to believe its possible Young Geese and SVC Geese could be in the same game and on the same team…esp. after seeing 4 versions of Kyo in the same game and can be on the same team.

-DG

Okay DG. If these Bosses are not overpowered(think Goodman) then they should be legal.

Let’s be honest. Most of us aren’t traveling to Japan for KOF tournies. I’m gonna play whoever I want unless they’re overpowered. This isn’t about Y.Geese and SVC Geese being on the same team. I know you play top tier in KOF. Dunno why but you do. People are gonna bitch if you do but eh whatever.

If the bosses are not a problem then they’re legal. Everyone else is greenlighted. Unless they’re broken.
