The only thing that would be a downer is if this doesn’t get released for the ps3. I freaking hate the xbox controller and not to mention it killed my GOW2 disk, and it randomly freezes when I play it.
Edit: Oh crap I failed to read the first post. Thank goodness ps2 didn’t crap out on me yet
Oh shit yes on Chris part! I will be officially practicing with dude!
And KOF2k2 has CCs? OR did I read that KOF2k2UM will have them? Either way whats the problem of the game having them? As long as its blaanced enough it shouldn’t be a problem…I don’t think SNK is THAT stupid
The wait is what’s going to piss me off. I’m phasing out my ps2. I’ve barely played it, (except to see what it looks like on my new hdtv) since I got my psp back in 2007. I’ve still got KOF 2006, NGBC, KOF XI, and KOF 2k3 (I think a visitor I had may have pocketed the KOF 2k2 disc without my noticing …I only bought the collection for 2k2. I HATE 2k3) and I MAY go pick up a copy of Tekken 4 later, out of curiosity. All I plan on buying this year are fighters (skipping sf4 yawn), and with my ps3 being the latest aquisition, I’m most interested in bolstering it’s library. Regardless of how the american 98UM release does, I really hope SNK releases a jp PS3 KOF UM collection sometime before Tekken 6 BR drops. I don’t care if the pixels look all wierd like in KOF XI (not too crazy about that game, either) on an hdtv, I LOVE 98 and 2k2!
Well to me I knew they were going to put more effort into this than 98UM from the beginning simply because KOF 2002 is the most played KOF in the world…
Well unless you own a Neo Geo, or are playing on GGPO, the sad point is that most Americans’ perception of KOF2002 is based on the less than spectacular PS2 version…which is probably safe to say 45% arcade perfect compared to the actual arcade or Neo Geo KOF 2002.
Shabby controls, altered inputs, (Far worse graphics even) certain glitches that aren’t found in the arcade, make this one of the worst arcade to home conversions ever.
Like I say, to most Americans, they don’t grasp this simple concept, and their perspective on KOF 2002 is limited to the PS2 home version.
But the rest of the world gets the Arcade perfect game, which is leagues better than what most of the US has seen in regards to KOF 2002.
So when I hear anyone open their mouth about KOF 2002 having “controls that are meant to break your wrist” I laugh at them and it shows their ignorance in regards to the true version of KOF 2002.
Now it is said this game is coming with an arcade perfect port of KOF 2002 (Like 98 OG came with 98UM), which will help solve a lot of issues especially at my SNK Majors…I can just universally have the tournament on the PS2 at my Major and thus I won’t have to bother with converters for Neo Geos etc.
Nice arrogant rebuttal, but I’ve played the arcade ver. of OG 02 and don’t own the PSTwo copy of it. It just didn’t strike me that’s all! simple as that.
Well thats a first…thats something I can respect believe me…because very few Americans even know the differences between the REAL KOF 2002 and the PS2 version…
So Kudos on someone thats actually played the arcade version of KOF 2002. Also argument was directed mainly at the people who judge KOF 2002 based off the PS2 version…and here in America its more than you think!! (Most say stuff like what I said in regards to the controls because quite simply they are ignorant about the differences, or they do not care, or both!!! )
Now me in general 2002 OG doesnt really strike me either to be honest ( so I’m not saying if anyone doesnt like 2002 or it doesnt strike them it means they dont know what they are talking about)…but NeoWave struck gold with me so I understand where you are coming from…the presentation makes quite a difference…
I hope 2002 UM eventually replaces 2002 OG in all circles…and I’m not just talking here…(because it will here due to little most here know about 2002 OG in general)
I mean around the world…so I’m crossing my fingers…
That’s cool, I’m glad I’m the only one. It just that’s how considered your post cause It felt you were being arrogant. I understand about the controls, cause it’s there and it is an issue. I know differences between Arcade and console on a fair level, not on an all knowing but just enough to know when something is changed and or different from the original.
I have the Xbox ver. Of KOF 02/03 but I have more to say I have it. I haven’t really played 02 just because it didn’t grasp me in the arcade machine at my old college and I doubt the console ver. would do much.
Feb. 26th can’t come soon enough for me to give UM a shot being that I havent played that ver. in the arcade
