Since I don’t have strong Akuma matchup experience, just one thing. Why didn’t you EX TU through his air EX hadokens?
Watch all of them. I tried several times. Did it too early and got stuffed. Other times I just wasn’t thinking about it. Something to work on.
EL, Good videos. I like your mix ups, you did a good job not falling for a lot of his TU baits, but still didn’t give him too many jump ins without punish. The only thing that I noticed that seemed to account for a lot of the damage done to you, was using pokes that were out of range but put left you wide open of his RH loop. I noticed it a lot on the last video of the first set, and it seemed like every whiffed poke was punished with a RH loop; also, I never saw you whiff a poke on rounds that you won, you beat his RH every time, or predicted it.
Yeah, I know my strong points and it seems like everyone agrees I lost to vortex. I just wish I knew what the optimal range is to fight Gouki. I don’t feel like Sagat has any range where he is in charge unless Gouki is cornered. Right now I think I’m going to work on zoning at mid range since long range zoning is kinda fruitless. Yeah, I’m safe but I’m not really pressuring him either.
That dude was really good too, I know I would have gotten my ass handed to me, but he fell apart when you built a strong lead early on. He didn’t have any major life disadvantage comebacks like you did. Most of the time you could see him panicking and making bad choices after you got a solid life lead and you were free to pressure him then. Since he recorded, you could hear his frustration, but I’m sure you could see him fall apart in certain rounds. Also, I would never FA him at a range those RH will hit. Also, he would never FADC his SRKs for some reason, but he would try to land a crumple or something, you could have S RH him for a ton of his life a few times. I know I wouldn’t have the reaction times for that, but from what I’ve seen of you, I know you could. I think you could have mixed in a few more throws in, but he did a good job staying out of your effective range throughout the game.
Dude this is EXACTLY how I feel. Going up aganst really good Akumas lately who now the vortex set-ups and can loop you consistently really makes you re-evaluate the matchup. I think long range zoning is a nightmare, cuz not only will it get you nowhere, you’re giving him time to suss you out. Mid-range is iffy as well, cuz you do NOT want that st.HK to hit you even once. Close range you do more damage yes, but Akuma simply has more options when you get in close. Lets not even consider a knockdown lol… the ensuing rape is too much to think about.
This matchup really is an enigma, wrapped in a riddle, encased in a conundrum.
i seriously have no idea what to do against akuma, i cant zone i cant rush down what the hell. am i wrong in saying akuma is the best character in sf4.
Nobody can do shit against a good vortex Gouki. If Sagat is 70% the char and 30% the player, Gouki is 20% the char and 80% the player. U can play 10000 games with Gouki and if u are not good on vortex, u might have a 40% win ratio, while u play with sagat 3000 games and achieve a 75% win ratio just knowing the basics. I hope SSFIV change my feelings… Sagat is my 3rd/4rth char, played like 10k+ games with my main, but I don’t feel that scared when I play Sagat, I have to work waaaaaaaaaaaay less to win the same.

Better people with 3 bars? how many demon flips you punished/traded? how many crossup tatsus you ate? (also how many he failed, ending in front of you? how many you punished the right way? u paniced due to input lag, so…)… Dude, 3 bars is not the best scenario to test your skills against “pro people”.
I played against TakkumaKim, Shanks D Ace, RickyTTT, Rockhowar, etc… on XBL, I think I am aware how “better people” play online. I like to learn while losing.
Nigga, you said you are beating people with Sagat when he isn’t your main and you are implying you don’t spend much time with him. Sagat molests weaklings with little thought this is true. But that’s not what you need to be basing anything about Sagat on.
And in this particular match Sagat definitely works harder then Gouki since he is at disadvantage. Sooooooooo, what exactly are you trying to prove with your posts?
