The inevitable tier thread

Beat me to it, “oh my god” is garbage.

Never played KJ. Is that STPlaya from GGPO?

My boy Kuroppi was whipping that dude up when I saw videos of him. My Sagat is better than his. At least I know how to actually use cr.:mk: to get a 2 hit combo when I have the opportunity. His jump ins were weak. His poking was weak.

Nah man…there’s better out there.

Sim is the more annoying of the two to play because he’s a slower grind but with a that there are more opportunities to figure a way inside. For that reason, I prefer this matchup over Boxer. For me there is less risk trying to break inside Sim’s defense than to try and keep Boxer off of you.

Heh, thanks.

Off the top of my head, KJ, paulee and Lopaks Mom Can (sp?) are the three of the best Sagat’s I’ve faced on HDR. My old brain could be forgetting some others so apologies if I have.

Sagat, Fei Long, and Honda all have f’d up hitboxes.

I’ve been playing omg on xbl since ae came out yes he does use a programmable pad ask afrolegends he’ll attest to it as well.

kj gave me the best comp next to decoy and oski on hf but I’ve done pretty good against him on pad in hdr n I’d love to play him once I get a stick for 360.

As long as we’re talking bout other players has anyone played rhythm n funk? he got me into sf when I was 4 and plays strictly on 360/ps3 pad yet he’s still one of the best kens I’ve seen online.

after a knock down on sagat i feel like hawks cross up splash doesn’t work, sagats hitbox seems to hit behind him on his dp or something, maybe i just time it wrong on him, i don’t think i’ve ever actually tried using j.mk in place of it but if i have a chance i will i suppose, if you guys have an explanation to what i’m experienceing please inform me! i just think that’d be somewhat significant, especially if you’re saying you can’t safe jump him in the corner, both of those factors seem important

How do you guys know for sure?

To me it feels like Hawk’s crossup forward is safer than splash fierce sometimes. It feels like the splash has a vulnerable area that extends out behind him whereas the forward makes him pretty skinny in the air.

I use the crossup forward if I’m trying to cross someone up but a fierce splash won’t go over them far and fast enough to really land deep and pretty far on the other side. For example most of the time that I knock Honda over I don’t have time to set up a perfect crossup so I go for the forward, if he does a headbutt it tends to just pass under whereas the splash will get hit.

kfk - you cant crossup standing sagat. just like you cant cross up standing hawk.

zoo - how you know for sure?

I can’t recall specific examples offhand since I haven’t played him in a while but I remember him doing things that were physically impossible with a normal stick/pad, ask afrolegends he played ae a lot and most likely played him more then me. OMG actually got on mic once and told me he was using a special controller lol.

kjoutthe17th is good but he claims to be the better then daigo or choi and to have triple perfected sabre srk, anytime srk’ers such as koop call him out to evo he just says he won’t ever have time in his life to attend a tournament.

HDR Emil? Interesting that you can’t safejump Honda with Hawk, anyone got a indepth explanation on why that is? Honda gets up too fast or something, because, on paper, safejumping him shouldn’t be that-that difficult.

On another tangent, think any of the big Japanese players will give HDR a whirl when they come to Evo? I think it’d be cool if they got to get their hands on the game a bit before Evo, not to oversell the Japanese/undersell Americans, but I’d like to see what some of their top ST players could do with some of the new options. Maybe we’d see exactly where the balancing could lead the highest-of-top level play.

You can safejump anyone besides blanka and akuma. The problem against honda and sagat in the corner is that they get up too fast after a 360 in the corner. otherwise, fair game.

Well you can cross Sagat up…when he is crouching.
Logicallly speaking he is 7 feet tall right? By the time your hitbox hits his other side he can recover from that and throw you or whatever.

I’'m interested in seeing what the Japs do too. Now that the reversal and move windows have been opened a bit more i’m curious to see how tourneys turn out.

Another Tier List

I’ve had more time to play and have to suggest a different tier list.
And well I have noticed its been a couple pages since someone suggested one.

God Tier
Akuma

High
Barlog
Dhalsim
Vega
E. Honda

Mid
Sagat
Bison
Fei Long
Zangeif*
Ryu
Ken
Guile
Chun Li
Dee Jay

Low
T-Hawk
Blanka
Cammy **

*Yes i truly believe with Zangy’s new anti fireball techniques and easier motions push him higher…
add that onto this new fandango speed of his and there ya go.

**I honestly dont know how to call Cammy…she’s the only one i dont see much of
and therefore i cant really say how her changes have affected her.

You know, your opinion is your opinion…but do you really think Chun-Li and Ryu are below ALL those people?

Reversal windows have not been opened. They are still 1 frame.

And Ken.

hmm…I have all the new anti-fireball techniques in mind when i make a list like this.

-Blanka in the bottom three…?

-Fei Long above Ryu, Ken, Gief, Chun, Guile, AND DeeJay? Explain please.

-There is no God Tier anymore, even though Akuma is still a brute and needs some adjustment. Top, certainly, but not “God.”

Hmm…Sagat still feels a little high here, but time will tell. Slightly less combo ability from some normals, but still very strong combos overall. His super is nice to work from midrange now, and of course the useful mix of Tiger Knee juggles and powerhouse damage from the Uppercut are great. His fireball game is good, but those limbs of his are such a liability now. His greatest loss in Remix is that he can’t just keep you out quite as easily as O.Sagat, who was tiered at least top four (not counting Akuma) in ST. Think Zoo’s call of 4th-7th was dead-on for him.

Honda’s too high; his old issue of raping fireball-less characters while getting smacked around by fireballers (except maybe Sagat with his crazy long limbs) is still present, even if not as much as ST.

Agree with Chun dropping a few spots; she pretty much got nerfed across the board. Once she gets crossed up it gets ugly fast. She’s still very potent though; she belongs smack in the middle (though I’d even put DeeJay above her now).

Barlog…nice.

And as far as safe jumping…doesn’t Ken’s SRK hit on the first frame as well? EDIT: Okay, cool, thanks blitzfu.
