uhh even though you asked me on facebook whos good in the game?
I am finding that even Dhalsim loses to Akuma. Can’t get in on him with the air fireball bullshit and the jab dp bullshit. Pretty sure that match is a slight edge or 6/4 akuma.
Anyway, I am now just going to stop playing against him. Shit is not fun. Even if Sim wins, the matchup is so unutterably gay that I can’t describe it fully. I have started just quitting when I see him pop up. Shit is more aggravating than Chun.
That might make me a douchebag, but the shit sucks the joy out of the game so much for me that I’ve decided not to bother. At least I can counterpick when someone picks Chun. Couple rounds of getting crossup combo’d by Deejay and 95% of chun players will quit that shit. There is no counterpick for Akuma.
I swear on my life it is so fucking frustrating to have mediocre Akuma’s actually give me a hard time on PSN.
It’s maddening I tell you.
You’re a dork (No sh*t it is based in Japanese culture and language)… I can’t believe I have to explain myself and my post… So, I am not.
guys, Akuma takes hits like a mosquito. just stop turtling and HIT him
I hope you saw the humor in my post…
Here is the real deal on Akuma and Gouki.
I try man.
Fireball runaway and completely invincible dp’s make it tough.
Unfortunately he has an invulnerable jab dp, no recovery hurricane kicks (it seems), ridiculous ground and air normals for antiair, air fireballs, and super fast normal fireballs, as well as a teleport. It’s not as easy as you make it sound. Oh yeah, and if his fireball hits it knocks you back full screen nearly
Also, despite “taking hits like a mosquito” Akuma hits like a brick shithouse. Because of his insane juggles, and the jab dp, you can’t really get in close most of the time.
With Dhalsim, this fight is a struggle to stay at a range where you can pressure him but he can’t jab dp you and force you to block. It is a shit fight. Shit.
It’s a little dissapointing that Claw and Honda weren’t fixed as far as being terribly boring characters to fight against.
I find Claw pretty dynamic but Honda I’ll agree with.
Honda’s a lot more fun to play as or against compared to vanilla ST though; his game’s a bit more diverse now.
I still can’t believe that Sirlin made Honda and Guile so much better, but spayed Chun-Li so horribly. As far as tiers go, she’s had to have dropped a few places. Honda and Guile, maybe even Ken are better than she is now. Something as simple as a few more frames of invincibilty on that new SBK weirdness would have helped her not totally get bent over by the improved grapplers who just splash her to death if they get in at all. Yeah, you can counter it a little against regular players, but talented ones know how to smother the bitch like syrup on pancakes. She can meter quickly, but that reverse air SBK is also risky against competent opponents. Her super is so much weaker now; they should have at least made it as invincible as, say, half the casts’ on startup. Buuuut no; she can’t evade shit, and her threat level, as fun and decently potent as stored super is, just dropped so much lower, sadly. For such a good job on so many characters, there are definitely a few (Akuma and Chun spring to mind) that just make you scratch your head.
How much better is Honda?
Everyone is spouting dominance, but I think a lot of that is that people aren’t used to fighting Honda, and he’s so easy to use.
But he IS better too. Does he win or go even with shotos now? I can’t tell. Any Honda players out there?
I still think this match is at least 6/4 in favor of Dhalsim. Brian and I played a long set of this match-up a few nights ago (GG’s btw!). During the set, I think both of us were able to refine our game a bit. I think there’s a lot of fine details to learn about this match yet. It feels very tricky and technical for both characters to me. But so far, Sim seems like he still has the advantage to me. Both characters have to work hard for that win though. It’s not an easy fight by any means.
I think that’s a good point about a lot of people sleeping on a character. We’re going through the typical cycles again. We’re naming tiers way too soon and admiring the characters when the players have a lot to do with the final equation. Of course, we know the cycles of SF now(us old(er) folk).
I really believe that the newer games are not like the older ones in that the archetypes don’t determine the outcome fully. Sf4, while one will always make the argument that certain characters have an easier time winning, I think that all of the systems I’ve seen can lead to all those fun upsets.
In the end, to me, any character is capable of winning if your hearts really in it. That’s how I see things.
He may be mid-tier in the end but I will attribute that to someone peaking with him and folks buying that the character has reached its’ peak. Any character with the human element thrown in can rise to the type unless they were purposefully designed to be the worst and even then…
heheh It’s tiering threads that do a lot of the dictating that shape the minds. Inevitably there are players that reshape the minds that dictated the tiers in the firstplace. Doing that is way more fun than just winning to me:)
Of course, this is coming from a guy nowhere near devoting a lot of time to SF for a bit still. I have way too little experience with SF4 to have a solid knowledge base for what I think. This is just my typical philosophy. haha I’m that dude that likes to go “I’ll make him top tier mickey fickey!!!”
Good to see you Mr. Snyder
Apoc.
^^ good post Apoc. Cosign.
Vega only has 3 people to really worry about…Honda, Akuma, Bison.
Somtimes Balrog and other Vegas.
fwiw my Akuma, while improving, still needs alot of work. My impression would be 6-4 sim for this match as well, but damdai disagrees, so… shrug.
honda is angry. jab headbutt is too good. and his orochi throw comes out so easy is not funny.
vega also has issues with deejay. c.forward gives vega nightmares
Nope he is actually really bad i this game…
This coming from a guy whose main is Honda in ST…
hhs can be tripped easily…
ochoi is crap now…
jab headbutt can easily be baited and punished on an incoming fireball
super still can be dp on the second hit
he’s got nothing going for him in this one… sux imo
