Not thinking or generally giving a shit what my opponent is doing, which can work well if you’re in the right frame of mind. Unfortunately, I wasn’t. I don’t remember anything about any of my matches, just pressing buttons and then I was dead.
D’oh!! Now you know someone will drag up that match and present it as evidence that the Fake Hadoken is too good. You’ve been warned SRK! :nono:

Sweet, thanks Zoo. What a diss, double Super for the match. Also, nice vids you posted earlier of your Sagat vs Jumpsuit’s Ryu Zoo. BTW Jumpsuit has an awesome Ryu. I thought dude was a Fei Long player.
He was in ST, but he definitely didn’t like some of R.Fei’s changes. I think he still uses Fei though.
Hahahaha. Sounds like the people here on this thread would be SUPER top tier in the game that some folks refer to as BlazGreen. Domination at Evo! Takin’ all top 8 spots for sure!

Just got back from New castle, for those who didn’t watch the stream, Wong proved sagat is pretty damn beastly in hdr and according to him and Thelo people don’t use sagat not because he isn’t good but because he is simply a very different character then the o.sagat we are used to. According to damdai Wong could make a serious run for t8 at evo just something for sagat doubters to think about.
I’ll upload some vids of the tourney tomorrow, I didn’t get to get all the best footage because I only had a 4g sd card with me. =/
^Looking forward to seeing it!
IMO, I don’t know much about Sagat, but from like, the one or two good ones I’ve seen, I can safely say he’s upper-mid.
I think so too, Jiggly. I’m not certain of the matchups but I’m pretty sure Sagat can beat Guile, Zangief, Ryu, T. Hawk, Fei-Long, Cammy, Dee-Jay, Honda, and Blanka at least. He’s definitely upper-mid.
hdr sagat does not beat guile IMO, 6-4 to guile, 5-5 at best, guile can punish tiger shots from long distance without even jumping, sagas longer tiger shot recovery makes it alot easier to jump at him and most guile players are good at knowing when to jump over a fire ball bcos of the charge properties of the SB
I think hdr sagat is alot like guile in that, he’s upper mid tier and can hold his own against the top tier cast, but in the long run, he just dosnt have the right attributes to consistently beat the top tier characters. Both characters have been nerfed and that nerfing has affected their poency (guile low forward from CE, sagat longer tiger recovery in HDR).
Like jiggly, i’ve only really seen 1 or 2 really good sagats on hdr
Bruce made a big discussion about Dee Jay vs. Sagat last page. Sagat does not beat Dee Jay.
And while I’m pretty certain he has an advantage over the rest of those characters, its not by anything huge.
sagat hawk is 5-5
New Tier List from EventHubs
guile is far too low down on this updated list IMO
Fei Long vs Chun Li 5-5?
Fei vs Bison 4 - 6?
:nono:
cammy 5-5 with guile lmao
To put it simply sagat’s matchups are pretty similar to ryu’s with slightly bigger advantages and disadvantages respectively.
How can guile punish sagat’s fb’s without jumping?
Also saying “most guile players are good at knowing when to jump over a fire ball bcos of the charge properties of the SB” is not applicable because you’re taking into account some imaginary immeasurable level of skill to explain why one character beats another. Going by your logic I can say the same exact thing about sagat players so that leaves us even with your argument of why guile beats sagat invalid. Consider this fact: sagat has faster fb’s so guile will inevitably be forced to jumpin at some point giving sagat an undisputed slight edge.
Bruce is one of the better hdr players and one of the best dj’s but just because he explains why he thinks sagat doesn’t beat dj it doesn’t make it so. If anything what I would hope could be taken away from that discussion is his real advantage over sagat is how easily he can punish sagat’s fb recovery with j rh while being a charge character inherently makes him lose the fb war.
I don’t know if this matters to anyone but according to jchensor, damdai, thelo, and Wong sagat isn’t as popular in hdr because his gameplay style has changed significantly rather then him being nerfed too much or anything like that.

This might be why the new castle hdr matches (a small tourney including damdai, wong, n thelo) haven’t been uploaded but just in case it’s not send seb a message requesting them!
Wong’s sagat vs thelo’s honda and Wong vs damdai’s ken/sim was pretty damn impressive also I now know sagat’s jhp cleanly beats out walldives:cool:
Its easy for guile to punish tiger shots, from medium, close or even slighter further out, if sagat does a tiger shot and I do a boom, I can punish him with a forward moving sobat kick, even if sagat does his tiger shot 1st, If I anticipate it I can still nullify with a boom and punish with a sobat. All that dosnt involve jumping,
and if I have to jump I’ll use medium kick cos it trades or sometimes beats tiger upper cut. My opinion of the match up is not determined solely by the skill of the players involved but also the different attacks and counters available to a given character. But the skill of player is important cos that will determin what moves his character has that can turn the match to his advantage, if player A dosnt know that sobat can be used to punish tigers then that match up will be alot harder.
You might not want to hear it, but sagat is much easier to beat in hdr with guile
