The inevitable tier thread

Without going into matchups why do you think ken is that much better? Dic was already a damn good character imo with one of the best poking games, throws, and tod’s augmented by a VERY helpful reversal, greatly improved aa in st lp, jump up mp and fake slide are a nice bonus too.

Not that I say it to bolster my stance but Valle picked him at evo for a reason just thought it’s worth noting for noting’s sake lol.

You didn’t read the part of my post that says within the tiers there is no order lol but whatever I’ll humor you. Ryu was very good and he’s a little bit better but he isn’t boxer rushdown or claw poke poke throw good, guile’s buffs do a more then servicable job of covering up many of his weaknesses he’s probably the most improved of the cast (according to some he may even be 5-5 with sim!) Cammy n fei long are both much more competitive jury is still out on fei according to some he’s worse…this was before sirlin T’8ed with him lol so I’ll just leave fei as being better as IMO for now. However improved they are matchup wise fei n cammy don’t measure up to the rest is the concensus and one of the very few things srk agrees on:rofl:

I won’t argue fei wasn’t competitive to begin with, but he recieved nerfs to balance out his buffs. Can you say that for some of the other characters?

DJ (MGU easier, but less stun) and Cammy (does j. strong count as a major nerf?)?

Honda’s Ochio does less stun and bounces back and his HHS has a less advantageous hitbox.

Well I had meant that directed towards, like honda, ryu, hell even ken didn’t really get nerfed.

Fei long recieved a recovery nerf on mk/hk cws even though he didn’t recieve any buff including the fireball invuln. Flamekick can be punished by quite a few people now, but apparently ken didn’t deserve a nerf there. Rekka’s are nice, and super is nice.

To be honest I wouldn’t mind fei having slightly more throw range too.

Oh, and just to be silly.

Boxer:

Buff!!!:
Two button TAP!!! WOoohoooOOoooo

Nerfs:
Super, headbutt, throw, meter

I know Fei isn’t that competitive and all, but the things I’ve seen some people do with that Rekka Ken…

Its very hard to use the new disadvantageous hitbox on the hhs, and yes the loop is gone. It doesn’t make it any easier for fei, in fact I’d argue fei’s nerfs actually balanced the nerfs honda recieved. The new rekkas don’t help either do to stored oicho and jab torpedo.

Honestly when I play a patient honda, it feels like he can just torpedo anything fei attempts to do, including cw, due to its startup.

Omg Hawk is MID, not low.

My tier list.

Top tier:
Ryu, Ken, Sim, Guile, Chun, Honda, Blanka, Gief, Dictator, Claw, Boxer, Sagat, DJ, Cammy, Fei.

Absolutely horrible tier:
Hawk

This. This just shows how big of a hypocrite you are. You say you are so infuriated that not just negging is enough, you want to do something else? How old are you 5?

The sad thing is you’re raging over a video game where I wrote several observations I saw, and my opinion.

I pity you.

Thanks btw, but I was making one point, which is very true, that is Honda can turn around the match in one opportunity, and in my opinion this matchup where you have to perfectly hit all your fireballs or die, is not fair for either ryu or for honda.

I’m not going to go into matchups either, but which player was Valle facing when he picked Dictator? I can bet you it wasn’t a known Ken player.

It’s fair to Ryu, but not to Honda. If the Ryu player let Honda get that close to him, Honda deserves to kill with one touch.

And delaying your reaction to fireballs will help you how? It gives Ryu a chance to recover before you can land your j. attack. That is if you’re not already getting tagged by the fireball itself as you jump because well, if you’re in that range where you can punish fireballs with jumpins, a fireball will reach you pretty damn fast.

edit

orochizoolander, fake was given to ryu to help him vs sim. But really it’s amazing vs characters like Blanka and Honda.

edit2 lol fake fireball is pretty much the only thing I talk about in this thread. I hate that damn move!

Ok, let me elaborate some more. You could say the same statement about Zangief vs Dhalsim. “Zangief can turn the match in one opportunity, so Dhalsim has to play perfectly or die.” But nobody is saying that Zangief has advantage over Dhalsim, or even that it’s an even matchup. Dhalsim has the advantage because it’s so damn hard for Zangief to even get that one opportunity, and it’s not even true that every KD he gets will get him a win, and Dhalsim doesn’t even have a real get-out-of-trouble reversal.

Now, consider Honda vs Ryu. After manifold efforts, Honda finally knocks down Ryu! He now has the advantage!! He goes for the tick throw… and Ryu reversal DPs. Position reset, Ryu resumes his fireball trap, Honda dies. So much for winning off of one KD. Sounds like Honda vs Ryu is even harder than Zangief vs Dhalsim, which everyone says is heavily in Dhalsim’s favor.

Recap: Not only is your reasoning of “can win with one KD = at least even” wrong (see Zangief vs Dhalsim, or heck Bison vs anyone), it’s not even true in this case (see reversal DP).

That depends if your strategy is simply to hit Ryu’s Hadoken recovery or to get close enough to do some real damage. The non fireball character I use the most vs Ryu is Zangief, and I’d rather get close than simply punish his Hadokens.

YES! She should kept the jumping strong. Her juming game was weakend to such a point that it negates much the utility in the new buffs. She should have got the buffs AND kept the strong. Toning down the priority on the LK cannon the only nerf I can see, due to its safety now.

My dream cammy would be.
-New motions.
-New drill.
-OLD cannon spike. (I actually would want this over the new drill if I had a choice, it offers more mind game play with relative safety)
-New back fists.
-Jumpung strong.

These changes would have made her more competive but still very beatable.

-fatty :china:

The stun off the Ochio used to be huge. One hit after that and they were dizzy.

A lot of people can jab the HHS a lot better now Guile, Deejay, Gief, & Hawk have a much easier time jabbing it.

Either way, I’m not getting into the Honda vs. Fei, or the Honda vs. Ryu arguments. Hell, I barely play this game anymore.

:lovin::lovin::lovin:fatboy.

Chun is no way lower than 6th. She lost some stuff, sure, but she still wins the match the same way she used to (neckbreaker wasn’t THAT big a deal at high level and losing 10 off super is not the end of the world) and faster lighting leggs is really nice IMO (more meter building opps). Guile better than DJ? I just can’t see that, even with Guile’s buffs. The overhead is really telegraphed and if it’s up in the air on what he’s going to do; overhead or cMK, then block high, as one cMK hitting you is not that bad. His new RH flashkick is cool in certain matchups, but it’s not that big a deal. Deejay’s jump ins are better, so are his combos, his slide is just awesome and his super is better.

Like someone said, Ken can just turn it around FAST and he does often enough. Ken is better than Guile no doubt in my mind. Dictator is better than Ken, but only by a small margin. I do think Claw losing his dive shenans was the biggest nerf, because at the highest level (watching the vids) that ability was really abused to help win clinch tournie matches (especially against Sim/Dict). I think Claw may have moved down and Ryu up, maybe Sim to. Ryu got the biggest buff and I think time will show it moves him up the ladder.

and before I forget… Sagat still sux

Say it ain’t so
