I think the more appropriate question is have you played someone good? Are you good? Have you seen good players play this match?
Ryu vs. Honda is one of the most lopsided matches in the game. It hasn’t really changed much from ST. We’re well past week one of HDR being out, yet you still really think jab HB is that good? Rape with super? More like get DP’ed out of it… unless the Ryu player hasn’t figured out that it goes through FB’s.
I see. So could this be the reason for the conflicting data on Sagats fireballs? (People were comparing ST and SSF2 data, not really looking at the actual O.Sagat).
The thing is though, your video supports my point rather than the opposite way around.
the honda player was off his game/unfamiliar with the matchup and definitely nervous. heck even the commentators brought up that fact. He wasn’t even able to punish a full HP dp whiff.
In one of the later matches, choi (of all ryus you are mentioning) gets raped in one go from ONE mistake.
Concerning Ryu’s Fake Hadoken, stop looking at Ryu and look at the space between Ryu and your character. If a Hadoken enters that space, jump/Lariat/Knuckle/whatever. Once you close the distance, THEN start looking at Ryu again.
Did you actually think before you typed out this out? I negged you, because it’s all I can do from here. I wish there were more I could do to convey the animosity I have towards you, but alas negging is all I got.
No, friend, you’re very mistaken. The Honda was being zoned with fireballs every round, did you not see the few perfects that Ryu got? The one round Honda did get was off of a cross-up that I’m sure Choi can usually SRK. It is also worth mentioning that not just any Honda can perform that combo, and probably even EA himself has problems doing it consistently. Heck, that’s the first time I’ve ever seen or heard of it.
“Negging” someone for their beliefs is retarded. You’re better off explaining to him why Honda loses to Ryu, because it is obvious he believes that the matchup is 5-5. No point in negging, just calmly explain.
The honda player knew he was playing the best Ryu in the US and probably top-5 in the world. The fact that he took advantage of that one crossup he got was a testament to his skill.
Yeah, Sagat in SSF2 wasn’t that good if I remember right. For some reason the developers in ST decided to give O.Sagat those incredible tiger shots. Probably an oversight.
I can neg whoever I want, for whatever reason I want. You don’t have to like it, thats cool, but hey thats life.
I negged him for the statement I quoted, not for his delusions about Honda vs Ryu. This is SRK, we don’t walk slow kids to the bus and we surely don’t hold their hand.

Good comment norieaga, no doubt you will get negged for it tho.
Sure he didn’t NEED it and it is one of the best buffs in the game however, it doesn’t improve his ranking in the tiers as much as it does solidify it. Fake was primarily there to give him an out against sim who can drill punish fb’s all day as well as make him more “fun” and it slightly helps him against several others without compromising game balance because it’s an extra option not an advantage. It’s worth noting that although fake is a versatile tool to help ryu be more aggressive it is because of it’s versatility that makes it hard to use to it’s full potential by many if not most shoto players.
In the first pre release sthd thread a number of people flamed me for saying fake fb will be really good:rofl:
It’s probably because he has n.sagats fb arm hitbox which is more of a nerf then the compromise fb which goes to show how well designed he is in hdr considering even after these 2 nerfs he’s still generally considered one of the better characters.
imo he’s still 4th at best and 6th at worst.
Yeah seriously , then you have cr mp which is probably the best poke in the game, max distance slide, decent aa, and the dirty throw.
Not to mention walldive even nerfed is still the best special move in the game imo it’s 6.5-3.5 claw vs shotos.
I’m not agreeing or disagreeing I just find it funny it coming from the guy in red, and for those who are blind when it comes to reading between the lines STOP TALKING ABOUT REP, nothing productive nor relevant can come out of discussing tiny green/red dots in any capacity.
I can’t find the page but this is the list I posted within a month of hdr’s release: (characters within the tiers in no order)
top
boxer
claw
high
sim (personally I still think he’s top but better sims like sweetjv say otherwise)
sagat
dictator
ryu
guile
mid
dj
honda
chun
blanka
ken
low
hawk
geif
bottom
cammy
fei
Other then guile MAYBE dropping guile to mid I still stand by the list I made on hdr’s release which I was criticized for by some at the time.
With the amount of idiots on here, are you surprised? And yes, fully agree.
I might move Ryu up a bit, drop Guile down a bit, move Chun up a bit, and switch Cammy with Fei-Long. This might be the best list I’ve seen so far, though, but then I’ve forgotten what half the lists look like.
EDIT: Ken is pretty low given that he has the best reversal in the game. I think I’d also move him up, he’s the type of character that can win any match in a split-second with all his tatsu-SRK links.
