The reason you can just cancel SS into Sky Rocket is because the system buffers the DP motion from SS and uses it for the SR input. If you do hk.SS and press a kick later in the animation you will not get SR, if you however input the DP motion a second time then it will cancel into SR. You can cancel SS into any special move. Even Super :smiley: I detail this slightly in a video that I’m working on at this moment, along with the corpse hop mix ups and some combos

How do you stay in Flamingo Stance after you perform Firestorm in it?

For instance, in trial 18 it wants me to do Fire Storm into standing low while still in flamingo stance. Everytime I perform the Fire Storm move though, he goes out of flamingo.

I held forward and he stayed in Flamingo

I’m having trouble fighting Rolento. His jab beats every button by Hwoarang so I never know what button to press against him. Anyone got any tips on fighting him?

One thing I’m having problems with as Hwoarang is applying pressure. Does he have any good pressure strings?

canceling into his Dynamic Heel leaves you at +1. so stuff like lk pokes into lk, mp, mp xx DH isn’t bad. Throw it in with some over heads and lows and you can get some good pressure going.

Is anyone getting the wrong HH coming out? Specifically off of a cross rush I’ll come in with hwo and do d.lk into Roundhouse HH and I get the lk version sometimes pretty much randomly… Command history backs me up… is this a known thing?

I have been getting problems somewhat similar to this and I think the culprit is negative edging from the buttons, which is basically the input being registered when you release the button. So if you press and hold lk, then do the input for HH and let go of it then you’ll get lk HH. So what may be happening is when you d.lk you are not letting go of the button quick enough and getting the input for HH first, then letting go of lk before you input hk. This game seems to have ridiculous buffer tolerance.

Anyone here have a good, damaging combo Hwoarang can do as he’s coming in from his teammate’s launch?

Right now, I just Sky Rocket or do cr. MK xx H. Hunting Hawk.

I’m looking to up the damage because right now he isn’t doing much for me. Looking for Meterless and 1 Meter combos.

do cr. MK xx HH (Launcher plus attack is 280) or st. LK > MK-MK xx HH (317, launcher plus combo)) - But! on that last combo, there is a timing to it. I haven’t quite figured it out, but if you time the HH wrong, all hits don’t connect and you end with. Haven’t figured it out yet.

Honestly just hitting with st. lk seems hard since all he does is like move his foot forward an inch.

Make sure you’re using s.lk and not s.lp, because s.lp has NO range lol To help with the timing and the connection after Hwoarang gets tagged in hold forward and take like a step and half with him, this will get the timing and range right for you. I am render and getting ready to upload a video that has this follow up in it so you’ll have a visual aid soon :slight_smile:

OH RIGHT, The toe is st. lp, lol!

I get them confused some times. Having a punch button be a low kick confuses me.

I’ve been kinda stumped on this so…out of curiosity what gems are people using for Hwoarang? I know it depends on the other partner, but just trying to pool brains together. For now I just slapped some speed/power gems on him which I guess you can’t go wrong with.

I play Juri / Hwoarang, and since Juri has some great damage without Meter, I just stick Meter Building gems on her, and Meter Reduction gems on Hwoarang. I like having meters to get my EX Hunting Hawks or get some safe tag cancels or w/e. Juri is pretty much a battery. I was thinking about getting some damage gems with him but I wasn’t yet confident enough while using him to see if they’d get any use. Now that I’m a bit more familiar with him, I find myself having full meter a bit too often, lol. Its nice though, I get off a Super or Cross Art pretty much every match.

Never thought of that actually. Thanks! I’ve been toying with Ken/Hwoarang, Juri/Hwoarang, and Xiaoyu/Hwoarang so I guess I can think of ways to gem build in a more broad way.

Juri/Hwoarang is my main team as well. Very solid match.

@shway could you detail the timing on getting all HH kicks to hit?

I always hate picking characters. lol I want to play with too many of them, but I need to focus on one main for now. I’ve seen/read tons of Juri tech and started out with her, but I’ve been using Julia lately. How do you think Hwoarang/Julia look as a team?

Has anyone figured out a solid tag-in combo for hwoarang after partner starts a combo? Or like an extender after partner starts combo

Theres one listed here on this page, I believe. Actually I think theres a few.
