oh? so most of his target combos have low and highs on them? shit
Yeah, Hwoarang is gonna win the game.
I hope Hwoarang works well with Jin as they both have a ton of stances and crap I’ll have to figure out. If not then it’s on to try him with Juri and Poison. It’s hard to pick teams because who knows how things will match up in the end.
I’m assuming he can combo into his overhead? If he can along with his wavedash Hwo could be one of the best. Which makes me happy as a tekken Hwo player.
I hope so as well Reason. Mostly because Hwoarang and Jin both have some nasty potential. First off, both Characters hit like a Brick Shit House on Taco Night, second because you can play two separate games with them; Namely Jin has Projectile Traps that can lead to heavy damage, only to tag in to the Master of Mix-Ups that is Hworang. Trap Game + Mix Up Game? Gdlk. Finally, if they can nail a Cross Art, the damage is gonna be phenomenal.
I think we are on the same train of thought here. I was planning on pairing Jin up with Poison until I saw Jin’s devil dimension ball then I immediately thought the problem these two can create. I hope they both have a unique intro seeing as they are basically the Ken/Ryu of Tekken.
One more thing does anybody know for sure if his Hunting hawk light version is completly safe on block or is that just inexperience from players right now. Just asking because if he can really link one of his chains and put hunting hawk at the end and be safe that is some downright silly stuff right there.
I am 99% certain that his light hunting hawk is safe on block. I caught on to this fast, so I started pressing buttons after the opponent blocked the move, and I would get loads of counterhits if the opponent was pressing buttons too.
I did too. I saw it in a video and I immediately was like “oh shit that really good” then I got even more excited to play my Tekken main. Do you know if he can do it right after one of his longer chains as if you could combo it on hit and be safe on block?
Even if this doesn’t work as perfectly as I have it in my head the block on Hawk will be so great for baiting counter-hits which in this game can lead to losing 30% of your health. Next time someone is at a fight club or has time with the game please check and see which chains you can combo into light Hunting hawk and be safe. I just want to be sure because if confirmed that could lead to alot of interesting technology imo.
agree 110% the biker outfit has always been lame, it would be like if they put Baek in and gave him that stupid cowboy outfit
Lets share technology we find in the future Reason, this’ll be fun.
So I had some time with Hwoarang in the lab today and I found some interesting stuff.
When I was exploring how tagging in a character number 2 during his special moves would work, something weird happened with his ex dynamite heel. I would tag in my char nr 2 as fast as I could after activating ex dynamite heel, and the character would come running in to the screen from the other side of the opponent. Hwoarang would end up at the same side as he started, but the character nr 2 would be on the other side. I started exploring this with a friend to check if this “crossup tag in” would be a good mixup and we straight up found that if you do Hwoarang’s ex dynamite heel point blank or close to point blank, it not only hits overhead, but it also hits as a crossup.
When I found this, I started search for setups, and this is what I found so far:
After a sweep, if you do an ex heel at point blank as the opponent wakes up, it will cross up. I would do my bnb (jump in mp-- mp->lp bounce-- fadeaway kick xx ex hunting hawk – jump HK – sweep xx command dash) and then I could do the ex heel and cross up. If the ex heel hits, it will cause a small bounce, and you can combo crouching lk xx HK hunting hawk (for example). Of course the opponent can roll on wakeup and you’re mixup is worthless (even though I found you will get auto correct ex command dash to follow the opponent if he rolls)
I would also do a jumpin and go straight into ex heel as I land for the crossup mixup.
And to change it up, you can do the jumpin and follow up with standing lp (hits low) and cancel that into ex heel for the crossup.
I’m sure you can link 2 standing lp’s and cancel in to ex heel for a non-crossup too.
That’s a great find and adds even more to his arsenal which will make him soooo much more dangerous. And if u don’t mind me asking how were u testing these things out? Early Copy?
A friend of mine is reviewing the game, so I go to his place to play some. I think it’s the version of the game that was at WNF though, so it might not stay this way in the retail version.
Oh ok then cool. Did it have Jin and Akuma or did the roster stop at Xiaoyu?
No Jin or Akuma:/
Oh ok so that is the WNF build. I do hope that stays in cuz it’s so useful it seems

He looks really fun. He might join Poison for my team XD
Yeah, I think he could work really well as a second character. Do a combo, tag him in then end a combo with his EX wallbounce kick for even more damage.
Typically I don’t like complex characters, but I might have to make an exception for Hwoarang, he’s looking decent in the game. I’m pairing him up with Vega.
As my main character in Tekken whom I’ve made CMV’s with, I am DEFINITELY using Hwoarang. As well as making a Day 1 CMV.
