Yo how is everyone dealing with cross counters iam starting to feel like this mechanic will be the death of hwo. Also does anybody have any videos of os’ing backdashes on the ground?
I haven’t had to deal with them much so far, but if I have enough of a life lead, I’ll just let them do it. Without a life lead, you can use shorter strings that are harder to counter (e.g. 5LP for +4 advantage or 5LK > MK > 6 for +3 advantage), as well as 6MK, which is difficult to block and gives you +2 frame advantage and an optional FLA transition. FLA LK > MK > 6 seems to be around 0 or +1 on block, so that also has some limited use for pressure. It may also be possible to sneak in FLA MK > LK > 6 (+4 on block, 15f recovery on whiff) into a throw or something, but if someone recognizes that setup, I don’t think there’s any way to keep them from crouching and pressing buttons to beat it.
Any of you find that input priorities with Hwoarang are messed up online?
examples that I notice the most)
- doing dash into hh. Often times I will get his dp. Seems annoyingly lenient how often the computer will register a dp simply because of the previous dash input, even when you do the hh motion afterwards.
- Getting air raids instead of cross art when trying to cancel via overhead groundbounce, cr. mp xx cross art. I literally always get air raid online during this combo even though I can easily do it and get the cross art in training mode:(
- You could do QCB+K when doing Special Step to get Hunting Hawk. I don’t have this problem too often, but I imagine that would fix the problem. I like to test before I give information, but I’m headed to bed lol
2)That sounds to me like you’re not pressing MK+MP simultaneously. Even if you do db, d, df, f +MK+MP, you shouldn’t be getting Air Raid. I could be wrong.
No, that’s what I do. I do qcb + k during special step but often I will still get his dp. The computer seems overzealous at registering a dp rather than his other moves during special step. Maybe my inputs are just sloppy though.
As for his cross art after one of his grounbounces, I’ve pretty much given up on it online. I’m sick of getting air raids and I know I’m not screwing up any inputs for that.
Special step has a built in mechanic that if you press any kick button within it’s active frames, it will automatically do a sky rocket. The mechanic’s priorty is really high, that’s why you’re probably not getting HH out of SS. Delay the input slightly, or try it with a different strength SS.
As for the other, not sure. I guess look at your last match that it happened in, turn on notations, and use slow playback. Might illuminate what is going wrong.

It finally happened. Hwoarang can’t punch anymore XD. He always had like… one punch in Tekken. It’s just GONE in SFxT.
Kicks are more manly anyway. Just ask Chuck Norris =P
That being said I’ve been trying to find characters with good synergy, as all i can seem to play other than Hwo is Ken and Abel. And at that, I’m not very good with them. Anyone have tips for a character to pair?
Raven is pretty much the best partner for him, since he has amazing damage output and corner carry for minimal effort. Lili is another good option if you can learn to consistently get HK Hunting Hawk (214HK) switch-canceled into Lili’s Dominating Heel (6LK (whiff) > LK) (re-stands the opponent, setting up for resets or big combos). If you want to handicap yourself, you can pick Steve, as he functions more or less like a lite version of Raven for combo extension.
I’ll try Lili and Raven again; I want to like em, but they’ve not been good to me. Probably just a practice thing.
So, how do you get in as Hwoarang? That’s my biggest hurdle. Against anyone really.
Whiff punishing and random dashing or jump over footsies its all reading your opponent
It’s hard to react to Hwo’s dash. All you need is to get into is st lk rang to start off doing his strings. You can condition someone to be defensive and not throw out pokes with a few lk hh. Then when they’re turtling a little more go for a dash in.
Anybody have any tips for comboing f.mk it seems imposible without counter hit
you are right, and you can only follow it up with cr.lk or flamingo lp but both are 1 frame link, and you cant even plink them! (does plink even exist in this game?)
idk if it’s been already answered but does anyone know the exact frame adv on the f.mk (counter hit)? +5 or +6 maybe? sorry if it’s been already asked.
Which AA normals are reliable?
Rocket is alright, but I also want a good normal to AA
cr.mk works for me most of the time.
I can’t believe I’ve played Hwo for so long without knowing you can control his air raid trajectory and cancel his unique b+mk attack. His air raid is particularly more useful. I aim it to land right on top of the person, that way no dps can get it.
EX Air Raid Special is nice too. It has 12 Invinc frames and can go through and beat out a lot of DPs. AND you can combo afterwards
