I haven’t quite incorporated his divekick from the ground. I think it would be ok cancelled from his cr. hk. I like his air version though since it can slightly confuse your opponent when you jump away but then air divekick right back in their face. It’s ability to alter jump trajectory allows you to navigate a little better as well, and perhaps intimidate your opponent. People generally get intimidated from divekick moves that are done more for navigation than attacking, at least I do lol. It makes you seem unpredictable since you become harder to track. It also makes you seem smart and calculating since it looks like you’re gaining on them little by little. In fear, people will either run away or try to jump in on you.

who can tell me a decent partner to use with Ho? ive posted in a couple of other threads already so ill keep it brief. pretty much not interested in using any of the SFers since im sick of the sight of them now lol.

i’ve had some success cancelling the light version it from a cr.lp or cr.lk after a heel, occasionally catches people crouching.

Hwo’s moves allow him to have great synergy with anyone (hk HH is awesome for gettin out and bringin someone in whether in a combo or not). Hwo does solid dmg, has good mixups, and has ok ways to deal with zoners (command dash under fireball then cancel to lk HH to keep pressure and stay close). I’d say his biggest weakness is grapplers since he’s not the best at zoning or poking and generally has to be close to apply pressure, so you’d want his partner to be able to deal with grapplers. I use Hwo and Nina, and I think Nina deals with grapplers ok. ChrisG uses Hwo and Xai (who I also use sometimes). Insane dmg and mixups with that team, but extremely good zoners (like guile and chun) along with grapplers can give that team lots of trouble.

I bet Hwo and Raven would be a very strong team.

Edit: Julia probably covers Hwo’s grappler weakness pretty good too, but she doesn’t do a good job on heavy zoner characters so your Hwo has to be able to deal with that.

Can use Air raid to hit them meaty after a back throw. Mostly just good to get in.

I play Raven/Hwoarang and I feel both characters compliment each other well. I also like that both have high/low and have some sort okizeme.

I have yet to run into something that this team can’t handle.

What would the frame advantage be on Tsunami Kick (F+MK), Iron Heel (F+HK) and the final hit of HK Hunting Hawk (the overhead) be if it was a counter hit?

I’m assuming counter hit properties in this game are all the same, so I’m assuming CH adds +1, +2?

Tsunami Kick is the only one that doesn’t ground bounce on hit though.

Counter hit is not aplicable to both iron heel and hk hunting hawk (except for the increased damage of course) because they give you a ground bounce. If the extra frame advantage is the same as sf4, you get +3 on medium and heavy attacks and +1 on light attacks.

Okay cool. I just didn’t know if the counter hit on those made more options available.

As for tsunami kick, if it gets +3 more, it’d be +7 on hit?

Not being able to crouch tech properly with Hwoarang is friggin annoying. Patch that unique attack to something different. db + LK+MK or b+LK…something else.

I find it ridiculous that you’re complaining about such a godlike character. You can even have the best crouch tech in the game if you use 1LP+KKK.

Look no further than the top of this page, where I explained how to defend with Hwoarang, and you were the first to reply. Anyway, I’m just saying, you’re playing one of the best characters in the game and shouldn’t be asking for improvements, especially when the game has so many more important problems that could be patched.

It’s a bad input, I’ve gotten quite a few db lks from a crouching state because I rolled down to down even if my input was correct. People complain about Asuka’s f+LP as well as many other unique moves in the game. But because Hwoarang is solid I cannot comment on that?

Kind of a silly thing to complain about, because crouch tech sucks in this game. You have to crouch tech after a throw is active for it to work. Throws start up in 7 frames in this game and are techable for 3 or 4 after they’re active. So, you get 3 or 4 frames to input your crouch tech, whereas, if you stand tech, you get 10-11 frames to input your tech.

Okay, I’m confused. I thought for sure that not long ago, Hwoarang could combo off an EX HH into a crouching MP/MK into his super, but now I cannot ever get that. Did they patch him?

Nope, he’s still intact. I kept missing that combo for a while too, but the timing is “different” to say the least. Just gotta work at it.

Are there any uses for his ex.dh?
