The Hori PS4 VLX thread

Would you be able to offer other button colors. I might be interested in something other than black.

$18 for a set is a good price. I was looking at prices for other vandal switches and some of the prices for a single button are pretty high. My color preference would be to match the color of the panel, if possible.

I like them, seems like a good deal for 4 buttons and a panel can you use .110 quick disconnects with those?

what i’m using for now “ghetto” turbo panel made of cardboard, 24mm buttons, electrical tape and a Mcguyver mind set.

I would be down for a hitbox panel as well. I don’t want art though. Are they stainless? id love for a raw or brushed look.

Decided i’d give the VLX turbo panel block-off a go since I’m turning this VLX into a Sega Saturn only stick.

Made it out of 2-pieces of military grade alloy that i will later glue together and paint black. The top pieces is 3mm thick so that its flush with the top of the original plastic.

In green primer…

Finally decided to pick up a Kowal Universal plate so I could roll oldskool Vew(iL)x.
Never been a fan of Happ/iL dustcovers since they’re huge, so I once again filed down a smaller one.
Feels good to have the contrast with my billion other Sanwa sticks.

@rygod and @kubebot how much room is there on the bottom of your USA sticks and the base of the VLX? Room for one starburst or three stacked up sticks of gum?

Do you think a MAS Opticon or WICO Perfect360 will fit?

@kubebot - FYI the Paradise plate is a bit cheaper and a bit more versatile as well. Just for future reference.

Damn thes sticks are sexy!

I’m guessing maybe 3 stacks of gum.

Yep. But I need other things from FA that I couldn’t get elsewhere stateside.

Ah. Makes perfect sense.

@Feargus001100 for IL Eurostick I would have thought a single stick of gum. not much room there, but no scratches from the bottom of the lever either on the inside of the case. I guess you would have to get a soft piece of Bubble Yum and stick in there, close the case, open the case, bisect the gum, then do your measurement to find out for sure! unfortunately I swapped out my IL parts for pure sanwa goodness in preparation for SFV so I can’t run this experiment.

I haven’t worked with or tried the Wico or Happ so couldn’t guess as to their “fitness”.

I used the Kowal universal plate for my IL mod since the versions I tried made by Paradise Arcade wouldn’t work. They were out of stock of one of their universal plate styles, so perhaps that one would have worked. but any that were designed for the IL/Happ are more for the true arcade cabs, not for adapting Sanwa posts to IL configuration for use in the VLX.

Nice work on the VLX mods dudes! a Sega Saturn only VLX is an indulgence that I truly envy! I used the PS360+ with the Saturn jumper cable trick to maintain my ability to play that awesome Vs. console!

Just saw this, I’m in for one, possibly two if you go this route. I love my stock VLX for casual play but I only take my hitbox to tournaments.

Got the charge for my VLX-F preorder from Play-Asia! Woo!

Yooo hit us with that review on the new buttons when you can.

Speaking of those new buttons. I have a set importing from Japan soon too. They’re being shipped over as I type this.

Maybe now that they’re not named Kuro, Hori can sell them in different colors.

I bought them thinking that they were blue-ish, then I looked closer and it was just a washed out picture. Unless they are absolutely amazing, I will probably throw them up on the trading outlet.

Does anyone know how to replace the top panel of the VLX? I tried to do a search for a tutorial, but I didn’t see any clear instructions.

It’s easy. In the cable door area, there are 3 screws. Remove those, the entire top flips open. Under the pane there are 8 nuts. Remove them and the panel comes right off.
