@Feargus001100 for IL Eurostick I would have thought a single stick of gum. not much room there, but no scratches from the bottom of the lever either on the inside of the case. I guess you would have to get a soft piece of Bubble Yum and stick in there, close the case, open the case, bisect the gum, then do your measurement to find out for sure! unfortunately I swapped out my IL parts for pure sanwa goodness in preparation for SFV so I canāt run this experiment.
I havenāt worked with or tried the Wico or Happ so couldnāt guess as to their āfitnessā.
I used the Kowal universal plate for my IL mod since the versions I tried made by Paradise Arcade wouldnāt work. They were out of stock of one of their universal plate styles, so perhaps that one would have worked. but any that were designed for the IL/Happ are more for the true arcade cabs, not for adapting Sanwa posts to IL configuration for use in the VLX.
Nice work on the VLX mods dudes! a Sega Saturn only VLX is an indulgence that I truly envy! I used the PS360+ with the Saturn jumper cable trick to maintain my ability to play that awesome Vs. console!
I bought them thinking that they were blue-ish, then I looked closer and it was just a washed out picture. Unless they are absolutely amazing, I will probably throw them up on the trading outlet.
Itās easy. In the cable door area, there are 3 screws. Remove those, the entire top flips open. Under the pane there are 8 nuts. Remove them and the panel comes right off.
Unscrew the three thumbscrews inside the cable compartment to āunlockā the panel and lift it open. Disconnect the wiring from the buttons and joystick. Pop the buttons out. Use a flat-head screwdriver on the back of the joystick shaft to remove the ball top. Unscrew the four screws holding the joystick to the panel, and pull it out. The panel itself is bolted to the case with eight 7mm bolts, remove those and the panel can be removed from the case.
As far as I am aware, the artwork is glued to the panel. I donāt know if there is a way to remove it non-destructively, but it seems like it is possible if care is taken during removal.
The back plastic piece is held on by 5 small screws on the bottom of the case. Once those are removed you have to lift it out / off of the case at an angle and disconnect the turbo panel from the PCB.
Thanks guys, yea I was referring to the artwork panel. I havenāt seen a clear way to remove it. Iām assuming to use a hair dryer and all that and carefully peel it off.
You might be able to do it with dental floss or fishing line, kind of like de-badging a car. Just slide the line between the metal panel and the art panel and then work it back and forth, cutting the glue.
