My basic rule of thumb is to stop consuming product if money from it is still going to some known shit bird, but also not to hold anything against the work once the perpetrator is dead or financially disenfranchised from it.
Like, Alfred Hitchcock was a fucking asshole- but he’s dead so his stuff is fair game to enjoy.

Yea problem is I already bought all of Tarantino and Kevin Smith’s movies lmao.
I don’t hold his actions against the works. Takes more then one person to make a movie. It’s just unfortunate the taint of his actions will hang over those works. Every time I watch Clerks it’s gonna say “Weinstein Production” at the beginning.
That’s all. Well and that he was a great judge of talent and thays a terrible loss to. Oh well.

I got news for you, most of the artists, actors, musicians, etc you like are fucked up people who have done or at least think about doing, fucked up things. All people have dark and light sides, sometimes when the light is brighter, the dark is darker. Just enjoy the stuff and try not to think about all that too much. If we stopped enjoying all of the great art made by fucked up and deplorable people, there’d be no art left to enjoy.

That’s a really dark depressing viewpoint bro. Most of the celebs I like are perfectly decent people it seems. I don’t assume the worst in people. That’s just defense against being hurt by disappointment imo.
Just my outlook. I have 0 reason to think Kevin Smith is a douchebag till he does something douchebaggery like on a consistent basis. Everyone’s an asshole from time to time, that’s not indicative of anything.
