The Hakan General Discussion Thread

7 frames of invincibility? Dayum, I’d always thought it was like 4-5 frames only.

I could be wrong, but if I recall, that’s it. Either way, it’s certainly enough for our purposes.

Talking about backdash cancelling, the ability to Cancel your CC from a dash is a real good wakeup option, because you can cancel at any point, this mean syou don’t need to give up on offense, With backdash cancelling it needs to be instant and is tricky to get used to, using a CC has much more ease of use while still being really effective. You can backdash and cancel it at maximum throw/ultra range and really fool your opponent.

…good idea, maybe we can escape cheap damage? I havent tested it but seems possible… consider you having really low life with no ex, get KO and your opponent (Ryu) decides to use his super or ultra to cheap. If you do CC you get hit on startup, but if you do b.dash and cancel to CC you could escape without harm. Need to test this.

I really like bdc and I think its really important. There was one situation I found back in super that was really good. In the corner bison scissor kcik pressure. Block the first one bdc short will always beat the second one and sets u up for offense. Its pretty nice! In general I think BDC is really a major part of hakan’s game especially now that you can stay oiled for so long.

Also one thing Ive been trying but haven’t had much succss is dash forward kara cancel normals into specials to increase the range on specials even more when oil’d. Haven’t had much success yet but its something to look into.

I’ve been trying to test backdash CC against some of Akumas demon flips but since I’ve never used Akuma in my life i’m finding it a little tricky. Can someone help out here?

I would be very surprised if Hakan had a kara cancel. That would be cool, though.

yeah maybe not I mean basically what I was trying to do is. Dash Cancel into a normal and cancel the normal into a special but I don’t know if I got it to work, it seemed like I did once but it was weird and I couldn’t replicate it with the little testing I did.

Yeah I know what you’re trying to say, doing this can increase the range of some of Hakans Normals, most notably f.mp…this can be a great way to close distance on your opponent from reaaaally far away, and if you have meter then you can cancel it and create some pressure. It can also be good for going through fireballs and get closer to the opponent

If Hakan could kara-SPD that would be just too much lol

Yeah. Im not scared of Zangief any more. As soon as Gief jumps at me, I AA him with Lk Oil dive. Shit is too golden now. Regardless if he’s coming in with m.Kick or Fierce. He’s riding the tilt’o whirl. Loving the new Hakan. Just need to be more consistant.

Heh, it’s so hard to be consistent with Hakan. There’s times when you can straight out body someone, then other times where you just can’t do anything right. All part of the skill I guess, Wildcat is the only Hakan I’ve seen that has any sort of proper consistency, and even sometimes he goes off the boil. It’s a tough school.

yeah I would really like to know what goes in Wildcat head. Or known as sontyotu now. I know people have tried to get a hold of him for interviews, and he declined. But for someone who pretty much showed everybody what Hakan can be like ( in the begining ) when you understand the charecter, it’s a shame that he dosn’t share he’s thoughts. He seems to be friends with all these pros in Japan judging by he’s videos and still he dosn’t go to any tornaments with them. He really seems to not want to be in the spotlight for some reason. But just by playing a charecter who is concider weakest, and doing godly stuff with him, he kinda showed the Street fighter world that he exsist. I mean has anybody even seen what this dude looks like? Yeah, it would just be a real treat if he spoke up sometimes.

I have been consistently having dreams about Hakan for the last three nights.

no homo

I got nightmares in my first weeks of playing hakan online. I got nightmares of being invaded by jump ins all day and cannot handle them at all lol. Made me woke up and hit side of my bed because I knew i couldn’t handle them that well back then, basically terrified of getting my anti air stuffed. The dilemma of hitting / not hitting is much worse than deciding to get hit or simply block lol.

Hakan is insanely good in 2012. And it’ll show in the coming months… people will need to learn the match up and some characters will be almost hopeless.

Hakan was an underexplored character in Super, remained that and underplayed in AE he got nothing but buffs since then and now 2012 is just insanity. Some characters will have to go extra risky to beat some of his mixups. Hakan has an anti-air now, full punishes for footsies and fireball games, crazy backdash, damaging ultras with good setups. This match is going to be really hard in 2012, I was scared since day 3 when I was fooling with Hakan (played him for fun since Super). I wanted a competitive Hakan, but this is crazy. Curious to see how that develops in the coming months.

Starting with HK oil is a tad too much. Hakan was supposed to play around buffing himself, now he gets that for free.

I know what you’re saying, but remember to get that kind of level is hard. I mean just maxing out all of his tools. Why do you think there’s only a couple of world-class Hakan players? All the guys around here are striving to take their Hakan to that next level, and it’s certainly a slow process, but we’re trying. But you’re right, Hakan has everything he needs now, and it can be argued some of it seems a bit much, but it just means nobody can complain, lol.

I don’t think there’s many of us that would fancy our chances taking on Wildcat/Infiltration in a FT5 money match, lol.

I know, thank god Hakan is still a technical character, if he were a braindead one I would say right outta the bat that he was the new Yun in 2012.

Took my Hakan out for a spin for the first time today (I’d been labbing for about a week before I played any matches). I am VERY happy with this character.

Hey Guys, wanted to share this. Don’t know if it’s known or not, since i have a lot of threads to read up on to catch my Hakan up.

This is from a Balrog standpoint (as that’s my main), but this is probably universally applicable as a way to beat uncrouchable air-ground grabs and get a max damage punish.
