Fiddled around with Hakan’s coward crouch, really great stuff for dealing with some charge characters go right at you. I ducked a Blanka ball and buffered his 720 Ultra 1 right as Blanka came down. As far as Blanka goes btw, his ball attack is totally shut down by Hakan. Easy slide fodder if he tries it. Also, if you’re oiled, you can 360+P right through Blanka’s wake up electricity mash attack. It’s great.
Just gave Hakan a try online and he seems very agreeable with me, though it seems he has two major problems: getting cross-up (the only possible defense I see him having when he doesn’t have Ultra II and isn’t Oiled up is s.fp, which seems dubious at best) and characters that can run away easily (Ibuki, Guile, probably Dee Jay, probably Akuma, I’ve seen people talk about Dhalsim & it wouldn’t surprised me and possible Seth).
Speaking of Dhalsim & Seth, does Ultra II catch their j. fp? It catches everything else, so…
I’m pretty sure it was mentioned somewhere in the Lab. That or 360K punishes j.HP. Either or, I’m pretty confident it’ll catch j.HP for Seth and Dhalsim.
Gaoser: I’m confident the Sim player I fought is one of the very best Sim players there is, it wasn’t a random 2 bars dude I could mess with or I wouldn’t be posting info. There’s a big fat chance this MU turns out to be in Hakan’s advantage, you got just explore your priority pokes better. Hakan CAN approach and it’s bad for Dhalsim when you do, we are just too green to pick on other players well trained characters.
For now Hakan has a disadvantage when playing against the old SF4 cast since you’ll be playing players with a year of experience with their characters and you have only a few days. So don’t let their streaks discourage you.
It does? I’m sure I tried that, guess I’ll give it another shot
BTW do we have anything for Vega? More specifically to counter his annoying pokes (c.MP), just seems too fast with too much priority to try and squeeze a counter-poke in between them.
well what i ment by vega’s wall dives is his grab follow up his strikes arent any problem, anything i try other than sliding away is just getting grab out of.
Hakan v Dictator is pretty hilarious. Unless they changed the frame data (doesn’t feel like they did), lk scissor kick loops are basically unpunishable (unstoppable) without oil. And, oiling up is hard since he has several ways to punish oil from full screen on reaction. Only way to oil up long enough to do anything useful is to knock him down…which requires oil.
So…yeah, he seems totally ill-equipped to fight this guy.
I was having some success against sim and seth by using level 1 focus DNC f+mp xx slide to combo off of their s.hp from nearly 3/4 of the screen. The focus will tag them as they retract their s.hp and from the distance covered by sliding with oiled focus and dashing after you’re in range to connect f+mp xx slide for the knockdown.
Any reversal teleport from sim can be tagged by oiled f+hp, s.hp will catch him from any offensive teleport for a reset and putting him right in front of you, the problem is his weaker normals are what is going to keep you away most of the match as they recover fast enough to block or react to focus DNC attempts.
Oh yeah, and dont jump.
I was having problems fighting Dictator at first, it’s a slow battle, and you’re right, he can easily scissor kick you without any punishment, unless maybe you’re oiled. However, something I noticed that was odd. Dictator’s standing HK loses (in some odd cases) to Hakan’s jumping HK, which is totally awesome. I’m not sure if you have to time it a little bit before or after Dictator’s kick, but its a step in the right direction. Also just for the sake of not getting crushed… forget about the oil slide. Seriously, Dictator will be crouch blocking all day long. Which also makes Hakan’s DDT pointless. However, his super DDT is not pointless against Dictator. Time it right and you can punish a Head stomp.
Lastly though, you must knock down Dictator. He has a bad wake-up game and an oiled up 360 will over-prioritize a lot of his options at wake up it seems. What I’m finding though, is that you need Dictator to Head Stomp you. Once he does that, you have some good choices. You can try and air grab him or, to coward crouch and this’ll make his move whiff and he’ll be right next to you, buffer your 720 Ultra-1 and make him pay.
Just throwing in my two cents against the Dictator match up.
I just started adopting a new strategy-
say fuck it and heavy/ex oil.
Start of the match/when Im not oiled i just go for the longest oil duration possible, I get initial damage but i feel i actually have a chance when oiled. So far its actually working O.o will report back after further usage.
Oh, I was referring to your post in the Lab. I remember you from your icon but I suppose I read incorrectly. If it doesn’t work according to you, then I’m sure it doesn’t work at all, sorry for the misunderstanding.
yea me too… Just easier to take a little bit of dmg and get the oil.
OK, WTF do you do against cheese Blanka tactics? I played two matches just now with a Blanka who basically would just turtle, not throwing out a single attack. That forced me to try to get in close, but since Blanka just sat there and did nothing, he was able to beat out pretty much anything. No slide, no focus slide shennanigans, no jumpins. Once he established the tiniest life lead, he would literally do nothing at all and then start jumping away as soon as I started getting within slide range. The positioning was such that I could never 360+k him or go for my own jump + AA, since he would be too far. At the same time, he would time his jumps so that my slides would never hit. I tried over… and over… and over… and didn’t land a single AA slide.
What am I missing here?
Adon can be a bitch if you are not careful. You HAVE to stay away from the corner. If he gets you in the corner then prepare to get chipped like hell with completely safe Jaguar Tooths…
I think next time I am just gonna try and get some oil so I can take the hit and slide out of there.
You can’t just reversal 360+P him after a blocked Jaguar Tooth? It seems like you should be able to…
you can just neutral jump on reaction and hit him as he comes down.
You can, but it’s not guaranteed, Adon can jump out. But then you can just mix up between 360p and 360k. Although, I found out Jaguar Tooth isn’t threatening for Hakan at all. As soon as Adon starts any version of tooth, just start up HP slide. It punishes both the MK and LK versions, and the HK goes completely over slide and you get away.
walk up next to him, take your time blocking/walking. slide is crap for pressure <_<, he’ll either start throwing crap out or jumping when your close-chop/f.lp his jumpings and punish any balls/slides. if he continues to turtle start pounding him with chops/f.hp/throws.
Once your close enough where he can’t jump on reaction you can also: slide, focus cancel, f.mp, slide/tick throws if you are oiled. I think thats hakans best approach/pressure mixup string
Delicious. Thanks for the tips on Jag tooth. 360 was not doing it for me. Will start doing the neutral jump.
