Oni’s who are rubbish and can be baited into doing wake up Ultra 2 if you stand next to them EX oil showering after you knock them down also fall foul of the ol’ projectile hitbox trap.
So, am I right to conclude that Hakan is pretty much free to Yun, all day everyday?
No, he isn’t.
No, you’re completely wrong and you need to stay tuned for “The Revenge Of Ruthless Bald Alico”, the Hakan tutorial to shut down all other tutorials.
Well, I’ll take you guy’s word for it.
Well I won’t be on for a good few days, heading down to London to enter SVB; European Fighting Game Championships, with Hakan!
Hopefully I can do the Hakan community proud, I’ll let you guys know how I do when I get back. Wish me luck!

Just something stupid … nsfw, btw
haha oh dear
Yay! Good luck to you drew!
Big LOL to that video!
After ultra 1, lp slide, then immediately jump forward roundhouse. Will crossup normal chars (i.e. Guile, Ryu, Ken, etc)
If you don’t want a crossup, walk backwards sliiiightly after the lp slide.
Best of luck Drew!
Hmm a cross up? This seems weird…haha I’ll have to test it out. imo probably only useful if the F.RH will kill as I’d rather have hk oil after ultra than a little more damage. But good find!
No, as in, you jump forward, then j.rh. The j.rh will crossup and allow a combo into slide.
Simply a way to maintain pressure after you land an ultra 1 one way or another.
^Haha ooops, somehow my mind totally skipped over the word ‘jump’ and I just saw Forward rH. My fault.
lol, sokay dude.
As an aside, I hope you guys enjoyed the RRBA. I understand that it only touched on the basics, but hey, I wanna be thorough. lol
RRBA 2 will be completed in the future, with a looooot of stuff in store…
So I figured out you can stuff Honda’s non-EX butt slams with dives. What was weird was that I could be right on top of him with a dive and still beat him, as long as it was timed right. Tight timing, though. Some dude kept lk butt slamming my air-reset dives, so I put in some lab time. Little tricky, though.
During mid-range footsies, I’m trying to drop the habit of hitting them with the focus and instead doing FADNC into cr.MK xx Slide. It’s been working wonders for me.
The focus freezes them in block animation and it makes them choose between jumping, down-backing, or simply holding back, all which Hakan has offensive answers to. Pretty much a “mix-up” from mid-range. Nothing most of you didn’t already know.
It’s weird, we’re a year into playing Hakan and I feel like he has a ton of more potential in him. :wow:
SVB update - So im back home now, and back with bad news unfortunately. Started off in groups really well, there was a big crowd watching my fights, lol. I was playing pretty good, thought I would get through groups pretty easily after that, then…I ran into a couple of yuns. One ok yun who edged me with GENEI WIN…and another yun who just blew me up completely. Really disappointed. Im not going to sit here and moan and complain about how Yun is broke or overpowered or whatever, i think enough people have done that already, but i was just really disappointed to go out like that. People were telling me I shouldn’t feel bad, it’s yun. But ah well.
Hopefully some of the vids will pop up.
Anyway I seem to have convinced my friends that hakan is broken when he’s oiled up, and after the first day of casuals of thinking it was amazing, they ended up complain and getting pissed off, lol.
@Realpolitix - That’s cool, I never thought about using the focus to hold them in stand animation and go into cr.mk, that’s awesome, I’ll be messing with that for sure. Also you’re not around enough man! You post so few things here these days
^ Hakan + Potential - Couldn’t be more true.
Just as an example for how to apply using a dive to beat Honda’s butt slam: Block a mk butt slam, and if you think he’ll butt slam again, you can use a lk dive to beat it by holding down the button for a very short moment. (MK dive is too slow).
Another example would be to beat a hk butt slam with c.mp. Instead of doing an air-reset uncrouchable dive, you can hold the button a bit on a hk dive OR dash and lk dive immediately. Both will beat a non-EX butt slam.
Not sure how handy that’ll come in but if your opponent butt slams on reaction to air-reset dives, it certainly will throw them off. Apparently, if you’re dashing in and throwing, and they butt slam on reaction, a lk dive can beat that, too.
Ah, sorry I’m not around too often, I kicked the habit of checking these boards, but hopefully I’ll stick around. Also, hats off to the Hakan forums, the collaboration of information here is sick. I’m quite disappointed I didn’t participate at EVO this year, even though I was there. The early pools seemed free too.
Props to Laswagga/Liquigen for the tutorial. I liked the comparison on how Hakan is akin to Haggar in MvC3. Really intriguing perspective on Hakan.
