So I need to be oiled-up? what should I do if I’m try? Can we CC the hadoken/s.boom then punish them with c.mk, slide and press?
ok so i know this is off topic(hope i dont get in trouble for this haha) but i just felt i had to show my fellow hakan friends and family haha, and its my first attempt at stick art, and yea crappy camera quality. (my “oil beats everything” stick)

So I’ve tried out Real’s forward throw in the corner, lk oil up, dash, lp rocket, lk oil up, f.hk trap. Very cool stuff.
Also, I’ve used my ex rocket, s.lp, near-safe-jump set up, and that has worked really well against some skilled opponents. Something I’m going to add permanently to my repertoire. Fun stuff. Just make sure to empty jump against srk’s and don’t use against some supers. Plus, make sure you do it with precision, or it can fail, i.e. the timing is tight. As I mentioned before, it acts as a true safe jump against some characters, e.g. Honda and Rufus.
Well done.
You can just lvl 1 focus it, hit with the focus, back dash. I don’t think he can punish by fadc the fireball, but I could be wrong I haven’t tried.
So I decided to test to see how the undercut oil dive works against Ryu’s neutral jump, and it works pretty well. Take the dummy Ryu and have him switch between j.hk, immediate neutral jump hk, and j.hk, c.mk. Block the jump in, 360 into c.defense during block stun, and if he jumps, tap lk as he descends. Also, you might be able to do 360 into lk+lp as an OS to prevent throws, although I haven’t thoroughly tested the difficulty on that one.
Definitely, not very hard to punish his neutral jump, as you only have to press lk in time to have Ryu land on top of you, throwing him before he’s low enough to hit you. If you screw it up, you end up taking a single hit\air resetting or whiffing and diving across the screen.
Straight ex slide also works.
You are -5 after f+rh which means anyone can hit you after, dry rocket after gives them 8 frames to attack
I had a idea also for a Hakan room. Basically, we make a room however big, then switch on and off playing Hakan.
I play mordie (hakan) vs me (abel)
If I win I pick Hakan, if he win he picks a different character. So forth and so on. So that way we can get hakan experience playing as and versus other characters and help improve weak points in matches from other players. Also one player will always be playing Hakan.
I beat a decent Abel a couple days ago… he rage quit, too. ha ha Let us know if you make the room, by the way. I’ll play.
Anyway, someone quite a while ago pointed out that c.mp is a good anti-air against some characters. I accidentally discovered it’s excellent against Bison’s j.hk and j.mk… even j.mk cross-up! That will be a game changer for me, because Bison kills me with that stuff. It’s also good against Ryu’s and Gouken’s neutral jumps. Against Gouken, you can follow up a c.mp anti-air with an uncrouchable air reset oil dive, too.
I think I have only played 1 hakan on xbl that was good, which is another reason why it will be a good idea. That and I need practice for the tourney I’m attending in Denver on the 26th. I’ll let you know when I set something up, maybe tonight.
You might try playing CaptainRocket who is RealPolitix here (if I’m not mistaken). That dude has the highest PP I’ve seen of any Hakan on XBL, while mine pretty much sucks.
I played him awhile back already. PP means nothing to me anyway, I’ve played like 15,000 pp/bp Dudley who are horrible lol. I’m pretty sure he was using Ryu though.
You was pretty good with all his tricks, but you did bad slides a lot. I never try to do non meaty slides and when I do I usually do lp or if they are sitting max range. It’s too easy to punish.
Yeah, my Hakan is a bit of a mess right now. I was better before, although too predictable. I’m trying to clean him back up to where I have a more unpredictable system AND make fewer stupid mistakes. I’m also adding a few set-ups that I’m not used to yet, so sometimes I look confused. ha ha. I’ll get my Hakan to something formidable in time. Thanks for the games, anyway. That was fun and very good practice.
Also, did you notice I was trying to get my undercut oil dive in on that Honda’s neutral jumps? I messed it up twice, but I was close on the 2nd. May have only been due to network, possibly, as I thought I had it perfectly.
Don’t think anyone has discovered this yet. An oil dive at slightly beyond normal max uncrouchable dive distance will stuff non-EX Ken/Ryu srks: while oiled, slide/press, back dash, buffered 360 into miniscule step backward, hk oil dive. While unoiled, slide/press, back dash, buffered 360 into walk backward more than a tiny bit, lk oil dive. (You’ll be walking a significant distance here, which is tricky). Watching in slow-mo, the srk is coming out but Hakan just grabs him out of the air early in the animation. Didn’t seem to work against Sagat or Akuma, though. Just Ken and Ryu. Probably just requires different timing, I’m guessing.
[edit]I was able to do the srk stuffing wake-up oil dive and make it uncrouchable as well. Only against Ryu. Fail (so far) against Ken. Plus, it beats Ryu’s super, diving right over it. Not the Ultra, sadly. Also, it beats all jumps. Probably tough to duplicate this exact set-up, but the stuffing of wake-up srk’s with the oil dive is pretty doable. Also, if Ryu hits you with EX srk, it’s a one-hit and takes little. Side note, for the lk oil dive set-up, you’re at just the right range to do the same movement backward but j.hp Ryu as he recovers from a backdash and combo him up. Nasty. Haven’t tried any punishes against c.lp, but I bet Capcom hooked us up with something handy just for that distance.
I’m guessing there is a set up to do this after a throw as well.
I think you’re on to something here. I’ve actually had this situation before where I’ve grabbed Ryu and Ken out of their SRK, never tried to recreate it though. I will guarantee that top Ryu’s and Ken’s will react to HK Oil Dives, it’s cost me many matches trying to test their reactions. I’ll look into this as well.
thats actuaalyy something nice and not the trolling i still blame you with (we dont get to a comman factore here so dont discuss this)
since the most usaly reaction to the DDT is a DP you can teach them to not use it!
Nice catch IF it dont work only on days when the moon is blue and figs grow uppon the thorn
Actually, you’re spaced far enough that most characters cannot actually punish you except with a few quick reversals such as Guile’s Flash Kick.
Balrog’s Headbutt, Cody’s EX-Bingo/Criminal Upper, Dan’s EX-SRK, Dudley’s Jet Upper, Sakura’s SRK, E.Honda’s EX-Headbutt, and get this, Ken’s HP/EX SRK will all be blocked in time.
Fei Long’s Dragon Kick, all of Dan’s non-EX SRK’s, and Ken’s LP/MP Shoryu, and T.Hawk’s LP SPD will even whiff because of the spacing. (Not that you should be Oil Trapping T.Hawk anyway.)
Jabs will whiff (and lose to any version of Oil Rocket) and slower normals will usually be beat out be any version of Oil Rocket. And man, I love me some juicy oiled EX-SPD damage. Even better when you backdash it to a HK-DDT. (450 damage :wow:)
The video gives a good list of characters that the trap works really well on. So have a little faith, most of my labwork has gone into this! :looney:
if you it wit oneof the last active frames it gets save PERIOD the same thing with slides -5 is the minimum if it hits with the first active frame!
By the way, the identical set up works against both Akuma and Ryu, as it turns out. Plus, there’s more. At that distance, you can hold down the button, provoke a whiffed srk and punish or a backdash and punish… on reaction… At least against Sagat.
Another example: hp rocket, s.mk, slight delay, lk oil dive. (Maybe a little easier than our slide/press examples). To find set ups for lk oil dives in practice mode, you need to be exactly one square away to pull the lk oil dive version of the srk eating dive.
This is excellent, seeing as the slow start up becomes irrelevant in this situation. If anyone can find something similar against Sagat or Dudley, that would be great. Plus, there must obviously be a very minor difference in timing against Ken, which I haven’t found yet, exactly.
@Reaper, I was able to duplicate it a few times, so it’s not impossible to do consistently, by any means. Also, for my “trolling,” perhaps you’re misunderstanding what my undercut lk oil dive is. You do realize you’re getting your opponent while he’s descending from a neutral jump, right? Not that hard to do on reaction. Really fun to pull off, too.
Also… damn, that f.hk set up is nice! Again, it’s bookmarked for me, so I’ll be incorporating that into my game, especially that throw, U2 technique. Absolutely love it.
maybe realy usefull with AE^^
