I just want to add my two cent to this thread considering I main Hakan. Ive been dabbling with him in Ranked matches, sets and even trying stuff in Training mode. Here’s some things I found out (if I am late with the info, please forgive me).
OCH can stop Blanka’s U1: I’m pretty sure I am late with this, however I am still going to talk about it here. I found it out while playing an e-friend. here’s the vid on it;
OCH vs BHC: Oil combination Hold going against Vega’s (Claw) Bloody high claw either nullifies each other or the BHC goes over the OCH. I have two vids on it. The first vid was during a match. The second one is me recreating in training mode.
One more thing I noticed too. it happened last night actually. Cammy’s Crounching Short. A cammy player was spamming it from a far. To counter act my slide I guess. It reminded me of when Zangief or Guile players would do that in SFII with spamming low jab against the blanka roll. Again, I apologize in advance if this is old news, but I am trying to read the whole thread (on #6). All in all, good thread!
I’ve actually got Zangief’s Ultimate Atomic Buster to activate after Oil Coaster and win, it’s very hard to do as someone said you need to input it before the flash or at least before most of the flash. If you’re not quick enough Zangief won’t get his ultra flash off and get grabbed.
Same works in reverse, I have a very hard time trying to get Oil Coaster out after Zangief’s Ultimate Atomic Buster but when it does Hakan will come out on top… pun not intended.
I’m sure it’s been pointed out somewhere, Hakan’s Oil Coaster has longer range than Zangief’s Ultimate Atomic Buster, you can stand just outside of his range and use his Ultra flash to buffer yours and grab him once his Ultra flash finishes. Same applies to T.Hawk’s Raging Typhoon.
Yea, I think that is what it is. Looking at the hitbox, I’m pretty sure he does some sort of insta-dash/lean forward. The hitbox doesn’t extend much past his actual hurtbox. This would mean if someone would correctly use invincibility, they could actually hit that area because he moves so close to you, just like his regular SPD. At least, that’s what it seems to be.
EDIT:
You know what I find even cooler in this vid, around 1:31? Hakan’s f.HK just teleported through Vega O.o
How does Hakan beat Honda? This is the ONLY matchup where I feel there is absolutely nothing I can do. Every single move of Hondas beats Hakans. If I use any oil, I get headbutt. If I try to get close, I get command grabbed. If I jump I get butt slammed.
Man I’ve been having connection problems also recently. Send me an invite anyway. If it’s too bad, maybe I can show you some of my replays aside from the ones put in the New Replay Channel.
Keep in mind, though I’m not #1 on PSN in USA right now, don’t believe “the hype”. Getting points is easy. Getting wins is hard.
as far as i know no, you can jump straight past someone on the wakeup and input a mk late in the jump and still tag the front of there face… not really a crossup but it looks funny. whenever your oponent is on the ground you should be oiling up. And from there you can mixup what you do, hakan just standing by you on your wakeup is pressure, him standing there oiled is alot of pressure.
Does anyone have any tips for the guile matchup? I keep getting wrecked by guile, ive found a couple of things but overall im pretty fucked. j mp is all around ass beating but a good guile shouldnt need to jump. One really cool thing i found to do against guiles who like to walk in behind a sonic boom is that you can j mp and avoid the boom and still hit guile.
after, 400 matches online with hakan i have realized that.
Hakan just gets owned by:
Dhalsim: Nothing really you can do, he keeps you at distance, and slides are no use since he always jumps, he may fall 2 or 3 times throwing yoga fires.
Usually you mantain the pressure with F.HK and tick throws, but he can teleport and Yoga Snipe… its really hard.
Abel: The overhead kick that launches foward (dont remember the name) can be punished with oiled up LP 360., but besides that, you cant pressure him, his rolls just get next to you then usually he wins on the 360 vs 360 grab because he has the timing down, and you need to guess. the cross ups into bnb are all comboed and i cant do a 360 in the middle of his bnb combo… And ofcourse. his Ultra II, its almost impossible to escape from because your jump arc is so low, even if you guess him coming, you will land fast and get owned by the ultra.
About Guile, i have been some descent guiles just oiling up and doing Focus Dash Foward, advancing, guiles usually throw 2 sonic booms until they realize its dangerous and they jump backwards, thats when you keep the pressure with F.HK. When you have them knocked down, Because of the pressure you’re doing, they always do Wake Up flash kick, just be close enought to bait the FK, then advance and do Ultra 2, F.HK, 360 or something.
Basiclly, focus sonic booms, jump the EX ones, Focus Attack Dash Foward when he’s zoning, bait flash kicks or mantain pressure with F.HK, and keep it going.
Since Sim likes to keep you at a distance, you usually have opportunities to get a lk oil. After that, it’s all about focus absorbing and DNCs. Keep your patience and you can end up punishing a lot of his attacks by focus absorbing into a f.MP combo, or f.HK, for the knock down. Then proceed to rape his wake up.
Don’t have nearly as much experience with Abels though. Although I do know you can beat out his U2 pretty easily with slide.
Doesnt Abel grab you first if you slide? never tried it but i cant believe Slide stops his U2, i gotta try that on training mode.
About dhalsim, well… also his teleport from behind i guess i should focus that too, or maybe S.HP.
I played today alot, and finaly beated top players. Here is some tips:
I stay calm, I do coward crouch on every ex sonic boom, or Tiger Shots. So your opponent will stop spamming.
When guile, or other player is spamming with a rithm thats guesable, I do a oiled slide at the same moment.
When oiled, Dhalsim is easy. I use crisco f.hk, to close the distance, once u get a nockdown, I do j.mk > mixup. When u see a teleport, > slide. It’s important to block all the time, on yoga fire, dont use coward crouch always wait at last second and jump forward and always use light kick even when Dhalsim is at the other side > this stops his c.hp.
4.when u get pressured, keep blocking. eat overheads, eat throws, but keep blocking.
j.mp is not so fast (like ryu’s) u will be beaten > use air grab.
Juri’s flip (qcb + k) EX > f.mp, slide (works even not oiled), but must be timed correctly, i think 1 frame.
slow chars > (gief, honda, sagat) when (oiled + foward sliding) hitting s.hp hits 2 times, buffer 360P > it grabs :D.
Can somebody help me with this:
When ryu, spams lp, hakan cant do anything, If i play sagat, I can spam TU, but what can i do with hakan?
few guiles ive fought kept spamming his sweep. so id make sure I was oiled, block first, DNC 2nd. you would think after I counter you with that 5 times youd stop. now, 6,7,8,9 and look, hes dead.
im a new hakan player, what moves should i use when not oiled up because im having a tough time using his normal without oil. is U2 the best in most situations?
his best normal imo unoiled is cr. mp its got wicked range and comes out fast for one of his normals. All of his normals have there uses its just finding when to throw them out, st. hp has very good range and can be thrown out at max range just like hondas st. hp to let the opponent know not to be cute.
Honestly hakan is all about reading your opponent and knowing when to take your shots and how to fuck with them using hakans unique move set, as you play with him more you’ll start to get good at using your normals to get easy damage here and there.
