Thanks for the Zangief match up. I got counter picked in a team battle where a Gief would just hold down back and wait. If anything I did whiffed he would lariat and just cross me up and I couldn’t get him off.
I felt so cheated cause his Sakura was aggressive and taunting my team mates but only changed his character for me when he stayed in the room.
what is this normal you speak of? normal grab? tried it once when we fought, didn’t quite work.
if it’s a normal hit of any sort, you’re gravely mistaken… any hit just got owned by his SPD
the only solution is jumping as far as i can see, but then again, maybe there’s room for some more tests
i meant hakan does towards+roundhouse, you go for a oil cannon and he’s mashing on low jab. he will be able to stuff your oil cannon with his jabs. ex oil cannon would work in this case because it’s got some hit invincibility.
For Rufus, use anti-air st. hp (usually works, but not always). If you predict a dive kick coming up jm. mp and perform SOG.
For charge characters, which are a pain at times. You want to go for a oiled 360+P, since slides and 360+K leads to big punishment damage. If they are projectile charge characters, that’s where the slide comes in handy at times.
Hello, just wanted to describe a bit about my experience using stuff I have learned on this forum.
I have been testing what can be used as all situation (for NORMAL attacks!) AA, seems Focus->dash cancel->c.lk,c.lk,c.lk,c.lk when oiled is the best he has (and you get a 4 hit combo). Still… if the oponent can be hit with s.HP, its better to use s.HP to get less predictable. If you get predictable the opponent can empty jump and go for a throw. It is possible to use c.mk->oil slide instead of c.lk, but the timing is more demanding then mashing the c.lk. This is not recommended for special attacks that can break or omit the focus obviously… air combos(chun li j.HP), air armor breaking attacks(juri), from air grabs (fuerte).
In case of unoiled AA I use s.HP or f.mp. (f.lp needs more timing so lag makes it worse)
For full screen fireball spammers the best+easiest I have found is ex-slide on reaction when oiled, if its Guile or DeeJay you should probably make this mid screen. If your not oiled try to get a lk oil even if you get hit by a fireball, if you are low on health and not oiled you could try to get mid screen and use the ex-slide. If the opponent knows the matchup he will eventually stop spamming if you can ex-slide him.
In case of Ultra, I usually use U1 since most of my matches start with the opponent rushing but then they start running away when their getting pounded
Best setups I use for U1 are:
oil slide->body press->lk oil->U1
really early j.hk -> U1 when land
As soon as you leave the ground press hk, as if you wanted to hit you opponents face with it (it actually does it, I have been able to hit Cody when he tried to do an Ex-Criminal Upper, the best part is that you don’t get hit). I usually do a couple this “early j.hk” far from the opponent when jumping over fireballs to prepare the bait, even without the U1, the idea is to make your opponent don’t notice you change patterns when you get the U1.
Another good strategy I have been using is mashing ex-oil rocket or U1 when I’m blocking the opponents attacks… if I know I’m in range (mostly if I’m oiled). Basically, if they miss the links or just stop jabbing its a free grab.
I’m pretty sure that the slide>body press into lk. oil is safe. The timing is ridiculously strict though. If you’re off by a bit you will definitely eat something. I can jump out of a wake up 'gief Ultra if I get it just right, so it’s just stupid tight timing.
dude you should REALY REALY STFU sorry but it DONT and if you do not belive it your REALY BAD executionwise PERIOD! it was tested against Zangiefs LP-SPD (REVERSAL) nothing comes out faster and Hakan still could jump and against reversalSRK he still could block so he hase FRAMEADVANTAGE! and therefore its save ; sometimes i dont get it why ppl write such crap even if its easy to test and verrify !!
hear for all how to do it --> DONT MASH IT! it is a one time move and you buffer it REALY REALY LATE in the standup animation from the slide one single execution if it comes out its save if not you where to late but no harm (and sadly no oil!!)
Unfortunately the slide+followup knockdown into lk oil is only safe against some characters. Different characters wake up faster or slower, and lk oil unsafe on the faster ones.
i tested it althou with cammy (as i remember she wakes up pretty early and her cannenspike didnt hit me out ; wihich ones would you suggest as unsave? didnt meet any so faar
some characters we should try out are Adon and Vega. I think I’ve been hit with adon’s LK shoryu and vega’s EX wall dive on the rise a few times. might just be lag, though.
also, do different strength of slides allow you to recover faster after the body splash follow-up? I’ve been thinking about this the past few days and it seems that lp slide nets you more time to oil up after body-splash. just a thought.
I’m sure this has been posted before, but I didn’t see it. This being my first contribution EVER to this fantastic forum, I hope noone has yet
Anyway, the big scoop is: Fireballs just pass through you when you EX Oil Up. That’s right kids! Anyone throwing a fireball at you is essentially giving you a free EX oil up. I don’t know what else it makes invulnerable to, it’s worth experimenting with, but today I both of DeeJay’s projectiles (he was using an EX) go right through me as I was Ex Oiling Up, causing a good WTF??? reaction in the room.
It completely avoids the first part of Cody’s ultra II. The sand spray part. I found that out by chance during an online match. I EX Oiled at the wrong time, and Cody started up ultra II. “Oh fuck, I’m dead” was my initial thought, but Hakan invuln’d through the sand, giving me enough time to block the rest of the ultra and finish Cody off.
Of course, if he activates Ultra II at the same time you do EX Oil, then Cody’s bound to hit you with the rest. Still, it was worth noting.
