The Greatest Videogame You've Ever Played

if somebody told me i could only play like 3 games for the rest of my life, i would honestly freak out. how the fuck could i choose???

honorable mentions though go to

Deus EX
Dungeon keeper 2
resident evil REmake
Streets of rage 2
Sonic 3 + knuckles
super mario world
Grim Fandango
metroid prime
Fzero GX
Okami
Majoras mask
grandia 2
panzer dragoon saga
dynamite headdy
warcraft 2+3

i am not writing why i love all these games since if youve played any of them you likely already know the answer.

i like you dawg

Deadly Premonition by a long shot.

The greatest game i ever played, had to have been guilty gear. The over all experience, art, music, colors, combos, and storyline were intricate detailed. There was literally hours of gameplay for the X2 version that i first played and couldn’t stop when i started.

Greatest video i ever played was Metal Gear Solid 4, manly tears were shed…

Did you seriously cross out Ico? ICO?

Legend of mana KH2 i would try to explain why i think they are the best games ive ever played but i have the explaining skills of a 5yrold. all i can say is i love action rpgs.

Like I said before it was the overall feel of the game, the killing, and the shooting mechanics.

Frozen Synapse is a masterwork.

Oh jeeze I dunno.

I guess my triple threat would be ST, MGS1 and DMC1. Oh and Bayonetta…and Ninja Gaiden Black…and…fuck dude this question is impossible for anyone who truely loves gaming to answer if you ask me. To many greats.

ST just seems like the pinnicle of the SFII theory to me. It plays fast and tight and doesn;t hold you hand for a single second. You fuck up your dead.

MGS1 is the perfect spy movie to me. It’s got great gameplay, wonderful characters, fun twists, and I really liked it’s graphics. I honestly feel updating them ruins a lot of the games grimy comic book look. Shadow Moses looks like a shit hole and the graphics go a long way in selling that aesthetic.

And DMC1…I could go on forever with DMC1. Tight responsive controls, enemies who all want to kill you. they don’t stand around waiting on you, they get right to the business of turning your ass to grass. It has amazing atmosphere, and yet sells it’s narrative as a silly macho romp through hell. It takes you and drops you into this hell hole and then gives you the firepower needed to get through that hell hole with confidence. When you play DMC1 well, it’s empowering, much more so then any of it’s sequels imo.

I would say the same for Ninja Gaiden Black.

Mah nigga. Easily my favorite Mega Man game ever, Legends is an honorable mention after X1.

Looked it up, looks like a mix of Dig-Dug and Robotron 2084 from the 5 seconds I watched it.

Actually I stopped playing Okami because I couldn’t get past this one part, but I may play it again after reading this comment.

Now to list mine: Final Fantasy X, X-2, and XIII, Death By Degrees, No More Heroes, Resident Evil 4, 5, Outbreak File #1 and #2, Batman Arkham Series, The Yakuza series, and Catherine. Oh, and Bayonetta.

Gunstar heros for the sega genesis
-great graphics for the time
-solid gameplay
-epic boss fights
-awesome music
all around awesome game.
chrono trigger is a close second (I mean by a hair)

Okami is getting HD release on PSN. Pretty sure it’s the Wiimake getting upscaled since it has waggle support.

Not sure the difference between those and the PS2 version.

I’d love to say Godhand but that’d probably be my inner-fanboy talking.

Never played KH(any of them.) Sorry every RPG fan ever, I used to consider myself among thee but the hours to complete, which reminds me of Lunar (Silver Story Complete or whatever and Star Ocean [both of which I have and haven’t beaten]) and sheer volume of good or great RPGs, even just those named in this thread, are too high for me to catch up on.

But Secret of Mana I liked. Used to have friends come over to tag team this game. Graphics were pretty good really colorful, the first enemy you fight is a YELLOW bloated rabbit with no limbs, which I like in games where it is appropriate (aka not horror games for the most part) , I really remember enjoying the music in the game especially of the shops and water temple(i think is the name? Where you got the spear and a mana seed recharge early on), main character was mehh, princess was a princess, but lil sprite guy was aiight. The leveling system in that game I liked, including the weapon experience that unlocked your charge moves was sweet. Good game

Super Turbo
Dark Souls
Secret of Mana 1 and (Seiken Densetsu 3)

too many to choose one

Ending to Secret of Mana was heart wrenching.
I loved that game.

Ninja Gaiden Black.
The combat, the karma runs, the homages in the moves to the old games, the boss fights. Murai. Doku. Alma. Incredible production values, awesome soundtrack. The run from entering the church, into and out of the catacombs. Game pushed the action envelope into places most developers are afraid to go. Beating it was one of the greatest feelings in the world. Triumph:rock:

Dark Souls.
Dark Souls just tapped into the old school, Castlevania like interconnected world for me. I loved the spare storytelling, the whole down and out atmosphere…one of the few games this gen where I look off into the distance and dread what might be coming. First time you look across the water to New Londo Ruins:shake:. The first time I went into Havel’s room and went down those spiraling stairs and the bastard turned and started chasing me.
So much goodness in this game. Brings a constant sense of foreboding that I haven’t felt since Resident Evil 1.

Versus City cabs are so fucking beautiful.
