The Greatest Videogame You've Ever Played

didnt FF tactics copy ogre tactics? I know it was on snes import. And Fire emblem

Pretty much. Still both awesome games in their own right.

No, fuck yo’ coffee. Yo’ coffee be fucked. Yo’ newspaper too.

… Seriously, there was lag?

final fantasy 3 for the snes

It is difficult for me to name a game as a clear cut number one. I can name several by system though.

I can’t say for sure on the Atari systems. Probably food fight.

for the NES it has to be Megaman 2 and Guardian Legend. Megaman 2 was the game that truly got me into gaming. While Guardian Legend combined game genres.

for the Master System it’s Phantasy Star. Alis Landale was cool.

on the Genesis it has to be Phantasy Star 2, 4, and Streets of Rage 2. Sonic franchise was gold here. Gunstar Heroes. Honorable mention goes to Vectorman.

Sega CD belongs to Snatcher. this isnt up for debate

SNES… bueno… this system IMO has yet to be surpassed. Turtles in Time. Super Metroid. Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger. Super Metroid. Final Fantasy 6. Link to the Past Megaman X, Star Fox, F-Zero, WWF Monday Night Raw. I could go on forever. here.

the Gameboy? Tetris all fucking day.

PS1 it’s when I thought Square could do no wrong. Final Fantasy Tactics is the best of the franchise as a whole. I will never budge on that. BUT. the PS1 is also home to Square’s greatest creation: a shmup called… Einhander. I’d like to give a shoutout to Silent Bomber and motherfucking Xenogears as well. Armored Core comes out here as well.

gameboy color? Pokemon Red/Blue

N64 gave me F-zero X and Star Fox 64. Nintendo’s big franchises were great. But oh god I love you Treasure. Thank you for Mischief Makers (and Sin & Punishment!)

gameboy advance? Megaman Zero. Megaman battle network

Saturn: Panzer Dragoon Saga, Guardian Heroes, BURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRNING RANGERSSSSSSSSSSS. Radiant Silvergun

The Dreamcast… ah so much love I have for it. But one game takes the cake without too much of a fight. Phantasy Star Online. shoutout to Bangai-o and the love letter that was Skies of Arcadia. And dont think I forgot about… J–J-J-J-J-J-J-J-J-J-J-J-J-J-J-J-J-J-JET SET RADIOOOOOOOOOOOOO

the PS2 gave me more Armored Core, Another Century’s episode, Super Robot Wars Alpha 3 and more shmups. I am also revived of my love for the Ys series with Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim. Adol and Dogi are forever my homeboys. Shoutout to Ace Combat 4 and 5 EDIT: oh and Tekken Tag baby!

The Gamecube gave me smash bros melee, F-zero GX. Metroid Prime, Ikaruga

the DS? Etrian Odyessey 1-3 easily. shoutout to Elite Beat Agents and Ouendan.
and Endless Frontier.
My psp had 1 purpose in life. Monster Hunter. of and Ridge Racer. the PSP had the best Ridge Racer.

the Xbox: people may say its over rated but Halo saved the Xbox and allowed it to live. That said It allowed me to experience Panzer Dragoon Orta.

The 360: hmmmm Phantasy Star Universe. and imported shmups.

PS3 is Demon Souls and Dark Souls.

3DS: This slot reserved for Etrian Odessey 4. Why is this shit region locked?

PC: Unreal Tournament. the hypest FPS I ever played. and Neverwinter Nights. And diablo 2.

from reading some of the pages it seems we’re all old as faq. T__T

But some here are yung as fucc. Wind Waker, first Zelda game beat. Buncha fuckin Gamecube games (Metroid Prime being the best answer from there, save MAYBE PSO) somebody said Halo was their favorite story…

Yeah, the game is fantastic but slowdown was definitely a thing; nowhere near as bad as the PSP version and especially the current iPhone version but it was there. It was especially glorious with the crazy spells, like Galaxy Stop; or that summon where the playing field falls apart and shit flies everywhere. But generally the game just took time to process whatever it felt like taking it’s time to process. Understandable now but I was like 13-14 while playing FFT, lag was unacceptable.

told you mother fuckers im 30, still have my atari 2600 fuck you all bizachs

children in the future will laugh at this post, they will laugh at a lot of things but this post will also excite a sense of sorrow

i fucking love you.

that’s square’s best game the soundtrack was marvelous and the remix of Thermosphere is ORGASMIC

Metroid Prime

Hopefully the future holds better first rpgs for children than fucking FF7.

ff7 was not bad. it came out at the right time. bitches just swear its the best thing since sliced bread.

i personally found phantasy star 2/4 and tactics deaths more moving.

but to buff that game’s nuts and ignore Xenogears? Tales of Destiny? Star Ocean? Legend of Dragoon? Tactics?

why first? it’s simple one of the better ones and the first of the kind who did something really emotionally attaching. don’t be a hipster to jump on a hating train. you know, the game is simply good no matter how you look at it. NieR is the only other game where I’ve experienced something alike in the modern day.

-Super Mario Bros 3
-Final Fantasy 6
-Earthbound
-Streets of Rage series
-Breath of Fire 3
-Mega Man X4
-Castlevania (mostly Super 4, SOTN, and Rondo)
-MGS 3
-RE 1, 2, and 3
-Ninja Gaiden (NES)
-Shinobi III
-Shining Force
-Super Metroid
-Contra
-Secret of Mana

The list goes on and on.

Goddamnit why does someone not liking something=Hipster?

I can’t like it because the plot is ass, because the characters are ass, because the best thing about it was how pretty it was?

But nope, I’m a fucking hipster.

FF7 doesn’t even come close to Nier but alright.

It’s not a good game objectively, but if you like it, fine, just stop assuming.

Yeah man, Thermosphere.

not liking (and don’t caring) != hating. “frigging FF7” is purely bitching. It’s objectively a good game. I don’t really dig Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana, but I can see the appeal. Do I go around trashing it due to that? No. Objectively those are good games, everyone can see that if they try to.
Just hating FF7 because it’s FF7 to be the cool opposite of the broad mass (that like FF7 - for a reason) is simply being a hipster.

Well, since we’re talking about RPG’s…I believe that Action RPG’s are above and beyond the most fun RPG games to play. Turn-based, FPS RPG’s, SRPG’s, etc. etc. All fucking suck in comparison, and I’ve pretty much quit every single RPG genre outside of Action RPG’s. I am replaying FFIV: The Complete Collection though, but that’s more because of nostalgia and the fact I copped it for 10 bucks.

The Soul’s games are by far better than any other RPG released this gen.

Sounds like you enjoy the depth of he world and interactivity of Morrowind more than the actual gameplay itself. Those don’t seem what those games are about though, and I’d like to try out the older games someday. You should try the King’s Field games, they’re amazing. P. Gorath showed me the light last year or so when I saw him posting about them. It piqued my interest, especially since it’s from the Soul’s games devs.
