Oh god I hope we don’t keep the signatures / banners.
I really, really hope we don’t.
Ill settle for dem banners for sigs!!!
Just disable them from the settings and you’re set.
If they implement a size limit (both dimensions and filesize) on sigs it would be fine I think. Sigs are my favorite part of message boards next to avatars. But it gets ridiculous if there is no limit set in stone.
They better not keep sig images, all they do is make this place look like a geocities website and break up the formatting of postings, cluttering the place up
Like kache said, Going to Preferences, and unchecking the “Show people’s signatures with their messages” box does wonders.
So do gifs just not working anymore? :o
Guess not, and it looks like your signature is “scrollable” if your image is too big now and this just in, I can’t edit my signature at the moment.
Guess I’ll be requesting something new from you guys for the new avatar dimensions
Same here
Exactly.
The sigs are also readable on the user profile, so just keep them disabled and open the user profile if you need to see their sig for whatever reason.
Looks like they got rid of signatures.
Yay <3
Boo. Can’t have animated avatars, what else am I gonna do with Photochop now?
It’s odd how you can click on the user’s icon and see the avatar animated, but it’s completely static when viewing through the forum.
Animations on the forums just went live.
Hahaha this. But what can you do about it and if you do, would it be worth it?
Still waiting on a kind soul to take up my avatar request btw, I would do it myself and simply ask Chibi what font did he use to make my avatar but my 30 day trial for Photoshop expired.
Ah, there still working on it, I see. It also seems like the way the images are display on the thumbnails change, depending how your avatar looks (ie, if the size is set to look wide, it will look wide on the thumbnail, rather than overall smaller).
Copying and pasting my old post back to this account:
Time to test the new avatar limits! Just from observation, I think the profile picture and the avatar are the same image (avatars are just re-sized). If you look at Valaris’ av, he has an animated GIF as his picture, but in his posts, his av becomes a re-sized, cropped, static version of that picture. I’ll let you know what else I find out through experimentation (constantly edited):
[LIST]
[]Sas mentioned that the avs re-size to 96 x 96 pixels in posts.
[]The file size limit is 50kb. Could be a little more, or could be a little less.
[]Feels like the Facebook profile picture system. You can upload a really large image, and then you can crop it yourself after you’ve uploaded it.
[]Seems like 192 x 192 kb may be the optimal size (dimensions) for avatars. Avatars of this size appear unedited in the profile page.
[]Re-sizing / down-scaling doesn’t work perfectly. If you want the best looking avatar in your posts, 96 x 96 kb is the way to go.
[]Re-sizing gives your avatar a maximum width of 96 pixels and/or a maximum height of 96 pixels (aspect ratio is kept).
[]Non-premium file size limit is 51.2 kb. The premium file size limit is 146.5 kb.
[]Sas couldn’t get an avatar to animate when it had a dimension greater than 192 pixels. Once he changed it to 192 pixels, the avatar was actually animating. Might need further testing.
[]Re-sizing gives your profile picture (the bigger version of your avatar) on your profile page a maximum width of 192 pixels and/or a maximum height of 192 pixels. Again, original aspect ratio is kept.
[]If you upload a picture that has dimensions greater than 192 pixels in any direction, it will not animate (?).

So I made an animated avatar at 200x200 and reaching 40kb for Grog. It wasn’t animating once it was set as an avatar so I resized the image [not the filesize] to 192x192 and now it works.
Edit: I’ve tested it at 196x196 and it didn’t work so I’m assuming 192x192 is the magic number.
