the new SRK is getting on my nerves, are you not allowed to use png files? coz i cant seem to make it work…
Did some more testing. I uploaded an 800 x 450 image for my profile picture / avatar, and on the profile page, SRK tries to maintain the original aspect ratio and re-sizes it to 341 x 192. So, on the profile page, your image will always be scaled to have a maximum width of 192 pixels and/or a maximum height of 192 pixels.
.PNG files work. My avatar prior to this default one was .PNG, however it was at 96x96. Try resizing it to something under 200x200 if you had it as that originally.
Savaii, disregard my request if you haven’t started on it yet. Seems I can still use my older avs!

About the new avatar layout:
It’s kinda of odd how guest are unable to see the animated gifs, but can click on the thumbnail to see the animation.
Otherwise, you would need to be sign in to see it move without clicking the icon.

160x100 isn’t going to work anymore because the dimensions look small and funny under these formats. The site suggest that you go the full 200x200, but maybe 200x150 will give you better look of the squared 160x100

You’re telling me you have to add huge spots of transparency just to make avatars animate properly?
Ugh. I’m just making everything 96x96. Having it be 200 x 200 only to auto resize / crop makes no sense.
Can someone please clue me in on how to make an avatar animate correctly?
EDIT: Ok it seems like 125x125 & <50kb works like a charm.
