The General Dragon Ball FighterZ Thread v2 (Saiyan Certified)

Mid-tier at best? Shew people are so quick to be drama queens.
God forbid Gohan players actually have to think about how they continue their pressure instead of doing brain-dead EX Machine Gun Legs all day.

It’s the same way I feel about the 16 nerf. Maybe if you need blatently busted stuff to be good with a character that already has other very obvious strengths, you were probably trash with that character to begin with.

Did that guy delay 2M for two hours so that it didn’t combo from 5L, then use lv1ex legs which already wasn’t as good as lv0 ex legs last patch, and use that as evidence that Gohan is mediocre?

Internet arguments at their finest, boys.

Yes he is.

Juste tested it few minutes ago. Level 0 EX legs is at something like +5. Gohan can only do one j.L. This j.L cannot be 2H, only deflected or DPed (maybe it’s a safe jump, I dunno). And at Level 1, the j.L gets 2H but Gohan can block, it’s not guaranted.

I call it fair practice even if it’s weird to have less options at Level 1 than Level 0.

Most C16 players are saying that the character is still good. He just have standard mixup now when he land 236L.

A.Gohan will live. People were already counter picking with tiny people any way

The vegeta nerf makes him an ok mid character with you like him. Not good enough to use as an anchor whereas before you could outro any two characters and he’d carry the synergie on the team.

While i think te change was good, this makes team building more strict specially for the weak side of the cast like Ginyu beerus Majin Buu.

Anyway now i need a new team but just gonna wait for DLC since i want to play team fusion. Go1 twitted he’s looking to play yamcha.

Vegeta assist is still the best combo extender, and his comeback potential was almost untouched. I think he’s still a valid 3rd slot guy on almost any team.

Majin Buu, btw, does not care about the Veg assist nerf. It still gives Buu the disgusting mid screen restands his body craves. (Majin is also a better character than he usually gets credit for.)

I don’t really count Vegeta as a ‘comeback’ guy. He just winds up being that because he’s stuck in last slot

I used to think that too. And I still wouldn’t say he’s the best comeback guy, but with air okay dp and air okay level 3 he can actually get a lot more scumbag comebacks than most of the bottom half of the cast, given he has all of that ‘last remaining character’ meter to spend.

Vegeta assist finally has a caveat with no longer being a lockdown, but it still covers the best angle in the neutral of all the assists in the game. Only one that really covers air and ground at the same time considering there is no strong AA assist in the game. Pair him up with another lockdown or even beam if you need to.

Like mentioned above, still has the best defense of all of the characters in the game and considering super dash and vanish are still stupid, still have a character that can slow down the gameplay and turn shit around on a dp.

Cell’s Beam covers the same angle. With the changes, I’d probably put the two on par with one another.

It’s fairly harder to confirm Cell’s assist on hit in neutral. Where it is piece of cake with Vegeta. And Cell hitbox is quiet big, he is easier to snipe I think.

Fat Buu assist contests useful air space too. Won’t guard your head, but it shuts down start of round air approachs really well.

Cell’s isn’t active as long, doesn’t go up as high and starts up slower. It’s definitely not quite the same angle or similar in strength.

True, but unlike new Vegeta’s assist, you can throw it at the end of combos for continued pressure. They introduced enough of a weakness in Vegeta to make Cell not look drastically inferior

Also, since you have time to deflect/superdash, does that mean that any invincible moves like LVL3s and Vegeta’s DP will go through it as well?

Any word on the Vegeta Blue changes? How’s he looking?

Cell is still plenty inferior just by neutrally being inferior to Vegeta assist. In assist games neutral assist is paramount and first order when choosing assists. You can always just have another lockdown or beam for post combo if you literally can’t lockdown with Vegeta anymore. I imagine people will come up with patterns to bait reflects since you can still move during the reflects and chicken block the super dashes. You can only reflect when on the ground and it’s just not very good to be on the ground for long periods in this game and super dash can be chicken blocked with Vegeta to bait and get your turn and sometimes still hit the opponent with Vegeta’s assist.

The changes just make it so people will have to “think” when they call Vegeta more, but even vs DPs and level 3s you can just bait by blocking during the call and its generally too much of a resource to burn level 3 on an assist that the point character will most likely block. Cell is like Marvel 3 Magneto where he has a solid assist, but he’s too much better of a point character to bother with his assist.

Yeah…after messing around in training mode dont think blockxxreflect is going to do much to throw off vegeta assist. Reflect doesn’t push away the point character so you can just sit in their face and goad them into a frame trap, cross up or dragon rush once the assist active frames end. Basically just sit there and watch them mash reflect. They can’t hit any buttons during reflect before the assist ends as the assist will hit them and put them in hit stun. If they just keep mashing reflect you’ll just sit in their face and can punish a whiffed reflect after the active frames end or just push for a trap or overhead/cross up after the assist is done.

You’ll need a DP + assist call to make block reflect anything decent and a lot of the cast doesn’t have a real DP to mash. Guess who can do that. Of course one of the current top tier points and top tier assists who is being called to do the assist you’re trying to blow up any way. Basically, still going to be able to lockdown with Vegeta, you just bait the reflect and again…reflect only works on the ground where your mix up and movement is limited any way.

Yea the active frames along with the angle of Vegetas assist still makes it the current best assist in the game.

In assist games, having an assist that does everything trumps being good neutral, which is what Vegeta was. Vegeta assist was THE BEST at everything to the point of it being the only assist anyone needed. Now if you need lockdown you still need another specific character with a specific assist to do so. This game has, thus far, been a one assist per team kind of game as a result of Vegeta, with everyone else just being superfluous bonuses as a result (yeah Goku Black is cool as a beam, but you’ll use Vegeta everytime given the option).

It’s not just deflect though. Opening up Super Dash as an option allows for an offensive counterattack by the enemy, one that goes over lows that you might need to open people up.

Yup. Plus reflecting it just sets you up for new bullshit. Basically you can do more things, but they’re all bad or easily baited.

You’ll know that people will want to mash super dash during Vegeta assist more often now so can just prepare counter measures for that based on whether you’re in the air or ground. Super dash is stupid but still leaves you minus and with Vegeta clogging up the screen its still a problem.
