DLC gems actually better than the [horribly fatal] in game versions? Few actual game changers? Unimaginative activation conditions? After all those attempts at level headed ‘wait til its out’ talk I feel horribly stupid.
+1 foot in mouth - does capcom even care anymore? Maybe Namco paid capcom off to get people to play other games
no, it’s not neccessary. But the meta game resulting from this was one of the few things I could muster interest for
The whole gem thing just seems a bit sillier/random/empty/pointless without it
except autoblock/autotech(1/6 of a gauge?). Those gems are serious.
hahaa
as i said before there are Gems that play a fundamental role and are easy to trigger, they are things that you were most likely going to do…like land to special moves…Bnb anyone? or land a launcher? Crossrush all day? or better yet Cross/Tag Cancel? why wouldnt you do that? so you get boost for doing things you were going to do anyways~
the meta game or anti meta would be countering or dealing with high damaging combos that activate 2 or 3 power Gems in a single Bnb and dealing with the mix up afterwards…I think that will be the meta…sorry if i seem a bit serious but everyone has been thinking of Gems as jokes so its kinda hard to take it serious…
I rather think the meta will be “my parter hits with a launcher” +dmg +merter gain. beacuse that is SURE damage / gain, without any need for mixup to actually get an effect of it. for the 3rd gem I’m I’d say 10 hits =>+20% sounds nice. one bnb could make 7 hits, making the gem pop off in the next one. with the preorder gems you can equip that gem twice, having a +40% after 10 hits.
You know, I just thought of something. Perhaps, considering the long activation times for a lot of the gems (by Fighting game standards anyway), and the ease of their activation…perhaps all of these gems are only one use per round? That would balance out some of the gems (like the vitality gems). Of course, you would get them back in the next round.
Translated: I know you guys aren’t as smart as us, but trust us, we have this shit on lock. It’s like chess baby, everybody knows chess is the SHIT! It’s hard to explain and understand, but once you BUY IT, you’ll get it. Not until then.
I don’t think Capcom has shown they have the chops to talk this way in recent years. The Gems speak for themselves, don’t even have to say anything.
Hmm…this does so much to improve on fighting games. All the problems that were present on fighting games are shored up because now you get happy time fun bonus for blocking things. So it isn’t enough that SF4 rewarded you for getting hit in the face, this game is going to take it one step further and reward you even more for not getting hit.
well i got the answer to my question~ Gems to Crap out after their time has expired. also another note you should be aware of is this, the Gem Effects do “NOT” pause when you tag out, so you are committed to your Gems activation when they do activate so it is best to have a good track of your activation requirements.
Source? Sadly…X the Line webshow…anyways…hope character reveals show up soon~
You know, I think I find it funny that Street Fighter x Tekken does a lot of things we wanted Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (and Ultimate) to do.
Remember when we wanted to remove X-Factor, despite the fact that it was the “core of the gameplay?” (Oh, and we got air X-Factor!)
Guess what the Gems are? Yeah, the “core of SFxT’s gameplay,” but guess what we can do with the Gems?
like its been said many times before. you can play without Gems in normal VS mode~ Training, or other Offline modes(Arcade Mode maybe a Exception because I think you have no control over the CPU’s Selection of Gems)
Online your Control over Gems is limited to opening a Room(player matches/Endless Battle/ Briefing Room) and Requesting that Players do not use Gems, other wise everyone is permitted in using any gem available to them.
it may not be something you want to hear but it is what it is…you cannot filter out players who use Gems not can you make a setting to restrict the usage of gems.
well i can’t completely agree with that as for the most part that about 60% of the FG community could careless about Online play. but also i think it goes back to that knee jerk reaction to gems in the first place, the real problem with it all is the unbalancement in total amount of Gems…and who has them.
we have all come to a understanding that we can accept Gems. Standard Gems.
but when we was finally about to do that, we are mounted with another problem…Pre-order/DLC Gems.
what this did was, create a difference and changed the level of the playing field. It made it so that only people getting the LE, are getting all the Gems, and everyone getting the standard edition are getting one set of the of the many pre-order incentive Gem Sets.
this in effect created chaos among community…what could be done to fix this already drastic problem? “Sigh” sadly i don’t know…because after release comes there are going to be people who feel that they are missing gems and that can be a problem, but as we know that these gems are DLC, and with that they are pre-order incentives and will most likely be made available at a later date for an additional cost. the cost can be anywhere from $1.99-$4.99 per Gem Pack. in addition to that you can also expect them to announce more Gem sets before release and other DLC content to come with in the coming months after release.
so again the root in most of the problem is the pre-order incentive problem…but do realise that this is not a problem only for SFxTK but for many games that either have been released already(Batman Arkham City) or Games that have yet been released(FFXIII-2, Resident Evil ORC, ect.) so this problem is much bigger then just SFxTK but of other games and other gaming communites as a whole.
we can do something about small changes like making a more streamline Gem selection, or makings a simple filter for Gem users or non-Gem users in online situations but its much harder for us as a community to express out concern about these pre-order incentives as they are things done by the heads of the corporate offices, there is little that the development team can do.
im sorry if i got way off topic but it was something i think should have been touched on…because alot of people are ignorant of the fact that its not just SFxTK that is effected by these pre-order incentives but all games as a whole. the gaming community is affected by this way bigger then just that…but i’ll leave it be for now as this post is long enough as is…
Edit#2: I think this is alittle more important then the death of Used games as a Potential Bill that can give corporations uncontested rights to control what we all enjoy on the internet…yes Sony, EA, Nintendo and others have signed a bill that will Kill web sites like SRK, IGN, Twitter, Ect.
I’ve said this a thousand times: What if every single one of the pre-order gems is available via some condition in game? Like, what if you must clear arcade mode as Steve X Nina (Mommy and Me!) to unlock a gem pack? This same gem pack could be available as DLC for less than a dollar and the difference being is that you don’t put the time into unlocking the gems. Mu-12 required a time consuming process to unlock her, but you could unlock her for 80 MSP just like that.
So why do this? Aside from it not stinking up relations with Capcom, this extends the single player replay value greatly. Anyone remember putting in that time to unlock Marth or Mr. Game and Watch in Melee? I enjoyed doing that myself to the point where I’d start all over to do it again.
Why the hell is this possibility constantly ignored?
