Autotech is completely useless. They already said they made ‘‘throws weaker’’. Expending 1/3 of bar to prevent 5% of damage is useless.
i guess chess is boring too, if you are just casually flipping through the channnels…
dont get me wrong, Im all for char diversity; I just think you make very poor arguments while being unnecessarily condescending
Pertho, funny stuff man~ funny stuff~
uhh Throws are not weak DX
i seen Poison’s normal throw do 25% on Lili…so you can take that how you will but…its not weak for a normal throw in my book~ you can check the Unity Stream rec. for that footage~
Auto block isn’t new.
The answer can be anything other than yes because the Auto-Block gem isn’t covering me in situations where I can’t cover myself. It will block in situations where I can hold down or down-back to block, meanwhile taking resources out of other areas like EX moves, tag cancels, and supers, or maybe even other Gems that will be fueled by meter. I really don’t think it’s going to save you if you’re walking forward and I poke.
I think the hang-up is just the opportunity cost, which can’t be fully assessed without knowing the other options fully. However, as I see it now, Auto-Block just isn’t a must have Gem. It’s also not a “immediately decline,” either. It will still depend on player ability and character selection.
I can agree that auto tech probably won’t be a very popular gem. But it still has some use even if it is a bit impractical. Even if throws in sfXt arent big damage auto tech could help keep your opponent from turning the tables and throwing you into the corner while you’re bulldogging him at the edge of the screen. And we all know you do not want to be on defense in the corner in this game.
And instead of trying to refute them you just rate them without pointing ‘‘which’’ particular argument was poor.
I am not being condescending, i am being ironic because most of people are not trying to debate with me, they are trying to offend me.
For the sake of the discussion i will resume my arguments.
1-Unbalanced games are boring for the player and for the watcher. For the player because if you play a top tier character you will end up playing only mirror’s online and in tournaments. And if you play a low tier characters you will get thrashed if you are worst or even in the same level of your adversary. For the watcher because wathcing chun-li vs chun-li everytime CANNOT BE FUN.
2- Sfx tekken has too many mechanics. Sometimes less is more. The bigger the options the harder it will be to balance them. It would be better to have 10 really unique gems well balanced, than 100 gems, while one of them is alreasy retardely useless. Auto-tech throwing gem, coasting 1/3 of the bar is stupid in a game were throws were made weaker. And probably we will have similar gems like 10% strength, 15% strength, etc.(in this case making the 10% useless)
3-Gems will be probably buyed as dlc. Past capcom business decisions corroborates this thesis. They are selling Shadow fucking events for christ sake. This will be a cash cow.
Too situational.
From the alleged 100 gems in this game probably 90 will be more useful.
Auto block’s effectiveness will lie in it’s ability to cover unblockables, and ambiguous crossover attacks from both sides. I think Ultra David made some good points regarding this a couple pages back.
You should consider putting “IMO” in front of your statements.
I cant find the original capcom stament regarding throws.
But:
’‘Anyways Max said throw windows are so small, and throw tech windows are huge enough’’
Yeah I can already tell you i won’t be using auto tech. In fact I’ll probably be using Hugo so nobody will want to try and get close enough to throw me anyway.
Am I the only one enjoying this?:woot:
BTW EXTRA METER BAR FOR THE WIN
If it is my statement it is obviously my opinion. There is nothing more stupid than ‘‘IMO’’. If i quote someone i put it into ‘’ . If i am not quoting someone it is quite obvious IMO.
Ono says there will be “HUNDREDS OF GEMS” and that they will be balanced as a core part of the game.
So I got to thinking…hundreds of gems huh?
You can equip 5 gems on your character. For the sake of keeping things nice and round lets say the roster is 50 characters. Then i’ll assume 200 gems as Ono says “hundreds” plural.
So 5 gem slots, 50 characters, 200 gems
That’s 200^5(50) = 16,000,000,000,000 That’s 16 trillion combinations.
LOL GOOD LUCK BALANCING THAT CORE MECHANIC CAPCOM!!
ALSO:
seriously, people still complaining about auto block gem?
It takes a meter when it activates. Jesus. If you guys can’t see the downfall of that then you have zero understanding of fighting games.
Lets say that P1 knows that P2 has the auto block gem… Even at intermediate level play this is how it’s gonna turn out.
P1: Throws out a jab seeing that P2 has meter.
P2: Either takes the hit, which leads into a chain or blocks it consuming 1 of his 3 meters.
P1: Does this every time P2 has any meter
P2: is left without meter for the entire fight as P1 can dictate when P2s meter gets used.
Auto block is the WORST gem idea I’ve ever heard of. LOL at anyone who even thinks for a moment it’s broken. People who are saying this REALLY do not have a mind for fighting games.
I’m sorry I’m really having trouble understanding this. Why does it matter if you could have blocked? Will it save you even one time in a match from eating a combo? Yes or no?
I’m trying to say no matter how good your block is, the effect of the gem is still so powerful that it costing 1 meter isn’t even a factor. Even if it doesn’t work for anything except high/low, it’s still super super valuable. I don’t want to argue this incessantly (we’ve been going back and forth in 2 separate threads!), it’s just really hard for me to believe anyone except for a tiny, tiny minority skipping on this gem.
Additionally, the game has Cross Assault, that’s another factor that makes this gem even more vital and powerful. Read UltraDavid’s post that I quoted (first post of mine that you quoted), he outlines it well.
To be fair, there is nothing inherent in combinations that would make them really hard to balance. The effects of the revealed gems are something that are pretty clear, it’s not like a combination results in some new unforeseen effect. The problem you mention is possible, there could be wildly different effects that end up synergizing with characters in truly unpredictable ways but I don’t think these instances will be that common. Even when they are, the game can just be patched.
People on SRK who are infatuated with Marvel consider really strong/crazy shit to be “imbalanced” (hence games with bad balance can be fun in their twisted logic) and will get offended by this when what you are talking about is character variety. You want games to have good character variety right? I suggest you say that instead to avoid being drawn into pointless arguments with people who can’t read.
Marvel 2 may have a huge list of worthless characters, but it also has a decent list of usable characters. If there was only 1 viable team in the game, it would be a terrible game.
Remember that part of the gems are for novices while the rest are for veterans. Also, I think your math is off.
(200 nCr 5)*50 will give you 126,782,502,000 so it’s actually more like 127 trillion different combinations.
I’m like 99% sure auto block won’t override a normal block. I’ve contemplated baiting out the auto block feature but it will be tougher to trip up a smart player. If I see someone with auto block I’d probably try to either rush them down up close with unblockables and safe tags to keep on the pressure and drain meter or trip them up with EX and multi-hit projectiles from afar.
