I could have sworn I saw something on this, but maybe ur right
just to comment on DLC Gems…I can see where people are coming in not wanting to pay for them, but i gotta say this because you know this happened for MVC3.
I bought the collectors edition ok…you know cool case, comic, month subscript to marvel digital, Jill/Shuma DLC for $10 more . for those who got the game standard had to pay the same $10 if they wanted them, same with TO.
my point is…why should i have the same content as someone else who didnt pay $10 more? what sense does that make?
I don’t want to start any arguments but…im saying it how it is…for $10 more im getting all this stuff in the CE, and because you dont want to pay for it, your mad at Capcom?..i can see why you would ban them in Tournaments because everyone wont have access to them. understandable, but not the gems as a whole.
it was never about the gems itself (tho many just outright don’t like them, like myself). the question is why does money advances you at all in a fighting game? it’s simply a failed concept. and while characters hurt, it doesn’t matter as hard as if you don’t have access to the same mechanism. imagine you get level 2 x-factor with the game and need to buy level 3 for another few bucks - does that sound right to you?
I played this game at e3 it was fine the way it was. All this game needs is more characters, but this gem system is ridiculous. It should be optional IMO. A separate mode at least. Capcom knows they can’t cash out on cd updates all the time, “lets add gem system to make up for it!”. And this ain’t no come back system either. Cause idk anyone who paid for x-factor, cuz i sure as hell didn’t
Just thought of the situational approach re: activation of gems.
I’m thinking a lot of the gems will be useless because either they’re too easy to activate / hard to capitalise on given time, or
the criteria for activation is very high risk, making the reward of landing said attack higher, but improbable for most matches.
Everlasting or non-conditional gems are probably more game-modifying than situational ones, but this remains to be seen.
If gems are allowed, sure make DLC gems allowed too. Competitive players will support the product, casual players have the choice.
Paid DLC for gems seems like a good cash cow. Whether or not it affects players to continue being competitive or not is another story.
I for one will not pay for DLC gems based on principle. I will buy DLC characters, however, as there is much more development time put into the final product than a mere ‘system tweak’ they had in place from day one.
Think of any online RPG with expansions… you can still play the ‘original’ game. You may care less about being competitive in PvP, and still enjoy the story with the skills that come out of the box. However, if you want to have the ideal build, equipment, skills, etc, for PvP, you better be ready to shell out for expansions you may not play to get access to the current top tier builds.
In short, wait and see because the game has not gone gold yet.
It does not sound right, and im in no position to say if is or is not. I don’t know how the DLC Gems will play out, i just know im getting them as a bouns…will i use them or not is up in the air.
Me personally would like to play on a even playing field, period. I don’t feel like i should have a unfair advantage. but i feel like i should have more “content” if im paying $10 more for something~ it could me costumes or anything else…i’ll be fine.
in the worse case Scenario this will hurt Online Gamers then it hurting Tournament players because of the potential banning of DLC Gems.
SFIV Vanilla has x-ups and UTKs and the only character who had a vortex was Akuma. Abel and Gief could do stuff but it was unsafe and very few of their options looped (<-this is what makes it a vortex). Sure, most games have characters with strong okizeme options, but strong okizeme does not automatically mean 3+ way loopable okizeme.
you take “vortex” way to literally. any oki game is dangerous, if it’s loopable or not. EVERY character profits from a utk, some more then other due to mixups, but alone in vanilla there are gouki, ken, fuerte, abel, viper, seth, bision, vega, gief, chun and blanka that have strong options.
Lol, there’s nothing too literal about “vortex”. Everyone already knows what it means. If you just mean oki, then you say oki.
As for how gems will affect wake up games, it’s like we already discussed, no ambiguous x-ups or hi/low mixups when the opponent has meter but the opponent is more susceptible to command grabs. But even so, you still have to consider the opponent’s reversal options, and whether or not going for hi/low or front/back is worth it. If a character has a strong wakeup option against that, why would you bother using auto-block? Like I said, I don’t see auto-block as being something to worry about for now.
It’s not like the limited edition is exactly the same as standard but with DLC, you have physical content for those 10 bucks more. And if they want to include DLC anyway put in something that won’t benefit people who have the limited edition, like cosmetic gems that will give you a hat or something like that. Still content but not game breaking content. My problem is nothing being able to have it, as in pre-order ONLY, DLC is not that better but still better.
well i think people have this “idea” of the DLC Gems being apart of the Core game. it doesnt add up…
lets just say for the sake of argument that we didnt know that there was DLC gems ok. and we played the game for 1 whole day then they said there are DLC gems. would the problem still persist? because alot of people think because Gems are a core mechanic…so are the DLC ones and its Essential to have them but in fact its not, it seems that it really is a Extra and not a absolute must have to play the game.
i said before characters and balance updates are these Essential elements. not Gems, Costumes or w/e add-ons. Banning DLC Gems will solve two problems.
-
the need of DLC gems, also saving money for TO
-
Keeping the playing Field Even to everyone.
the real problem is dealing with the matter Online~
I feel that someone who pays the game its full price should have access to all the content in the disc without having to pay extra to unlock stuff that in 2001 would have been available right out of the box…especially if said content affects the game…and even more if said game is a competitive one.
I miss the days when collector’s editions only included making of, soundtrack, artbook and maybe some action figure or other physical stuff for actual “collectors”.
Now they should call them “Complete Editions”.
My thoughts on the matter from before. Everything about the gem system is FINE except for the part where you’re paying to win.
so its official
character reveals aside, every single time something new is released about this game, it makes me less excited for the game’s release. every. single. time. something is clearly wrong with this production.
edit: are autoblock and auto throw tech gems confirmed to really exist? if so megalols
The X-the line show did not help that at all. It was just embarrassing
Pretty much…I’m just hoping that this does not translate to TK x SF.
pretty much the same, though i actually im intrigued with the whole gem system, if its handle in a good way it can add a new layer of strategy to the game
but with the amount of hype unhype things that have been happening since the announcement of the game i was right on being skeptical about this one, and more hype about txsf instead
hopefully
so i want make this clear…for all who argee and disagree
If TO pick up the responsablity in getting the DLC Gems…the following must precessed.
Everyone who wants to participate in SFxTK tournaments are expected to know what the contents of DLC Gems are and should be aware on how to deal with them accordingly.
All Gems are legal except those implemented after a certain cutoff date.
No specific Gem Combination should be ban without expecting its balance or imbalance.
if there is anything else…you guys will help me out right?
I actually don’t mind the gems. If it will make the game deeper and interesting, I’m all for it. Its understandable that people are upset about the DLC gems. I see it as Capcom trying new stuff out(Getting that $ for that special edition as well).
Going to try it out for myself first before I like or hate on it. Might be best to keep a open mind about it. Looking at the different gameplay systems along with these specific gems. The game looks pretty deep so I’m all for it though I’m sure I’m in the minority here.
Wondering if there be a air block gem that costs a meter.
