But thinking about it, I would gladly pre-order the limited edition and pay for DLCs if those exclusive gems were visual changing gems, it would be pretty cool actually and it wouldn’t impact the gameplay at all.
WTS: 5 gems of major shoryuken and 8 gems of greater atomic buster, will trade for perf skulls, runewords and SoJ
Like I told you before, man, Capcom isn’t dumb. They sponsor a lot of the major tournaments so they know darn well the ramifications of making the useful gems something you have to pay for (assuming you can actually use those gems in online play). The worst thing I can imagine with these DLC gems is if they’re used like System Direction and don’t factor into the Vs mode and is just something to make Arcade runthroughs easier.
But we have rolls to include so vortexes will be much harder to pull off in the first place. At most, I can see the auto-block gem being a get-out-of-jail card with a one time use.
As ilitirit said, I don’t think okizeme’s gonna be a major part of this game. Now, what does this mean for characters with vortexes like Ibuki and possibly others? Good question, but I get the feeling that their mixups will be made more diverse. Like, I can see resent-oriented, corner-carrying oriented, etc. happening.
in a game where crossups and utks exist will always be a vortex game. or what do you plan to do when your opponent is on the ground? just wait till he gets up?
and seeing that most characters have 1/1 the same move set there will be a strong oki game.
Capcom isn’t dumb, and that’s why they want to make money as much as they can, and selling useful gems would be a better way to make money instead of easy playthroughs in arcade mode.
But, they can still do it right. Make it like a Super Gem X Tekken (lol), release one big pack for a reasonable price some time after the release and including a free patch to fix some balance issues then I would be ok with that. The problem would be more if like every time PSN/XBL updates it will have 3 or 4 new gem packs…
I guarantee that even with all the Gems at your fingertips, players will eventually discover an optimal combination for your character. So in the end every top player who uses - let’s say Ryu - will select the same Gem combination, thus making them a clone.
Think of it this way, gems are going to force tier lists to branch out into sub-tiers. Ryu could end up being B tier without the use of Gems but with a certain optimal combination, he could move up to S+ tier. Top players would be stupid not to select the S tier version, therefore everyone that wants to stand a chance of competing using Ryu as their character will be forced into selecting that specific combination of gems.
I hope this makes any sense.
Just accept the Obama change of this game! I swear its so annoying to read/listen to more complaints then players saying “u know what this is an interesting idea for this TYPE of game”…Again & again **if ur looking for a SF4 like experience this is not ur game! **Too many player’s thinking with in that context IMO
None of us outside of those who got to try out the game has even played one f**king minute or know exactly how the gems work etc. etc.
Immature statements of bullsh*t doesn’t help regrading the gem system. Their are 100 gems & 1.2 million something like that combinations u can have, just wait till the game comes out 1st to get a feeling of SFcrossTK first then make ur opinions heard.
I find it ironic that the UMvsC3 card system is being embrace more which will make things more broken for that game.
There are 1.2 million something combinations , good luck finding that specific gem combination to make Ryu s-tier
This is not about tiers! I think alot of gamers are missing the point of the gems
You’re the one missing the point, sorry. And at this rate, SFxT is even more close to SFIV than ever, regarding chains, the combo system and the false liberty of “character customizations”.
I’m just looking for a good game (a solid one, with good gameplay elements) - which, for now, SFxT* isn’t it.***
**
Out of all those gems however, most will probably be useless or simply just for beginners. Combinations aren’t hard to zero in on, trust me. It may not be discovered in the first week or month, but eventually you’ll see most Ryu players sporting the same Gem setup.
You would have to be completely ignorant to think otherwise.
LOL. Do I hear materia ? I choose ultima weapon
ur nuts to say SFcrossTK is closer to SF4, are u kidding me
They made it feel closer to SFIV and it still plays like some earlier builds. I mean they did say some characters can combo from chains like chun can still do LMH into like bird kick. I don’t mind links which maybe more difficult because you need counter hits. I like the new combo system because of bounds. This game is still more free (as in lets you play with more creativity) than SFIV.
As for the chain system i think of them as a more in depth Groove system but in this case you use them to put a small band aid on your weakness. Like for me my defense if a little iffy so i’d put like 2 defensive Gems 1 or 2 attack and maybe a speed.
Megiddo and Brennan you’re both right in a way but lets just try and look at the gem system more.
OMG!!! Have u played the game much less got the feeling of the SFcrossTK exp. then shut it up sorry
Intill u play the game hands on, intill then lets carry on this discussion about things we dont even know yet
100 Cards and 1.2 million combinations is for Marvel, we have no idea of how many gems this game will have.
The card system in UMVC3 is a completely separate mode (called Heroes and Heralds mode). It will not affect the core game in any way whatsoever. It’s just a side thing for players to fool around with.
That is why it is being embraced more than Gems.
I think you’re underestimating the community’s ability (especially in this day and age) to break games down and find the absolute cheapest tactics as early as possible.
If Gems are a core part of the gameplay, then optimal gem combinations for characters will be the number 1 priority of the players right out of the gate. Which is why it will be nonsense if some players can have the optimal combination (cause they bought the Special Edition or whatever), while others cannot. How are you not grasping this yet?
And you can’t even discuss anything without bringing solid arguments lol
Like I said: for starters, the combo system got dumbed down greatly to SFIV-levels.
Well, they did nerfed the Cross Rush so it’s not possible anymore to cancel it into specials, so I’m pretty sure the ABCC ABC won’t pay off for long.
Please shut up. Thanks!
Finally, someone who understands where I am coming from.
