You guys here we won’t have the option to turn off gems, they are VERY IMPORTANT to the gameplay. SOUNDS preety BALLSY on Ono’s part. Hope they spend extra time to make it balanced
So If there is gonna be a gem to get more meter I’m definitely equipping all three slots with them
Thing is, I believe those gems last only either for a period of time ala Regen in Final Fantasy or are one time things not unlike Cure.
If, when it comes to DLC, that it’s simply giving the gems the Mu-12 treatment and making a free option for obtaining them available, them I’m fine with that. For tournaments, TO’s can buy the unlock keys for last minute additions (assuming there will be any).
I just hope that we don’t have to pay for brand new gems and that they’re all available in the game for free if you wanna do it that way. It would be stupid on Capcom’s part to do otherwise.
well thats good news to me~
“Not all gems in SFxT will be opened up from the get go, DLC and other stuff will make more of them available. There will be a starter set available right out of the gate.”
It’s official. Shitstorm incoming.
My hype has gone down tremendously reveal after reveal starting with the pandora crap. when the game was announced i couldnt wait to get my hands on it, now just…ugh. and u cant even turn that off, ridiculous. im still gonna give this game a chance but its not a 1st day buy for me anymore. gonna wait and see how things turn out. i bet seth was killing himself when he had to go on camera and advocate for the gem system saying its awesome and all that bs. oh well im looking forward to umvc.
Still think people are overreacting, I really can’t see autoblock being viable considering it requires meter, therefore it’s pretty irrelevant a platform to use to complain about a whole system you don’t know the details of yet.
Thats it. No buy. And if they think they will get people on the edge with the gem system to begin with, to buy it with such a pathetic decision, well damn. They’re dumber than I thought.
If they didn’t force it down our throat, I might still buy it regardless, but they insist its part of the game and its for tournament: all excuses to get money from gems DLC.
I don’t care if thats overreaction or if there’s still assumptions in this post. If they had clarifications to say, then they should say it now.
Well they better put a limit on how of a damage boost you can get , same with a defensive boost and speed boost. I can see it now Take 40% less damage for 20 seconds if you meet the requirments.
Hopefully for the passive gems the requirements better not be dumb easy to activate it.
As for DLC I say make your money on something else CAPCOM you shouldn’t pay to get advantages over somebody else. Wanna get better? Hit the training room
I don’t get it. The features of this game seem so haphazardly put together.
@Tomo
its pointless to try in explaining it to them, they will have to live with it or not buy it at all…im just sick of trying to Defend this System, along with Pandora…if they want that as a excuse to not get the game, let them use it as they’ll miss out.
• There will be no option to disable gems in SFxT. Ono said they’re too important to the gameplay.
A bold move, could turn out either way as long as it doesn’t become DLC reliant.
From what I just heard in the interview. it gives you an edge if you go DLC. This game is starting to sound really fucking dumb. And I have been defending the gem system. I don’t know what to make of this mess now.
AH. That’s the restriction - it only gets restricted if you do SPECIFICALLY Light Medium Heavy. No biggie there. If you do Light Light Medium Medium Heavy or just Medium Heavy, you can cancel no probs. This is why you can still do LMHH (tag) MPxxHPxxShoryuken.
Says who? What advantage will you get specifically? No details about exactly what is contained in the exclusive Gems have been released.
Seriously, I feel it will be no different to people who get exclusive weapons in the pre-order DLC for shooting games. Half the time it will be crap anyway.
Guess that’s why capcom is going to hold their own tournaments. This is like their first big game to not be at evo isn’t it?
I’m not going to fully sweat over gems, since this IS a crossover game and all, but… like… this shit would’ve been WAY BETTER if arcades were still alive in America…
However, the “purchasing” shit is pretty lame. Why not create a difficult mission mode or some sort for godlike/top-tier gems?
Like, defeat opponent in 15 seconds for the Speed Gem, don’t take over 20% damage for Defense Gem or win against an opponent who has 25% more health for Attack Gem and etc.
Ultimatum time:
THE GEM SYSTEM IS NOT INHERENTLY A BAD THING. HOW IS THIS ANY DIFFERENT TO CHOOSING GROOVES? THERE IS NO REASON TO BE BITCHING. AT. ALL. YOU DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HOW ANY OF THE GEMS ARE GOING TO WORK. YOU DON’T KNOW SHIT? BIG FUCKING SURPRISE.
Anyone bitching about gems doesn’t know what the fuck they’re talking about. Stop. Don’t say anything. You’re wrong.
Don’t worry this game is still going to put up them numbers. My problem is like most other people problem being that there are DLC gems. This is not like COD in purchasing weapons and this junk better be like 10 cents if their selling it. This might be the biggest DLC failure since shadow battle.
Where did the say there are DLC gems? All I heard are pre order gem packs, and it hasn’t been stated if those are early unlocks or not.
The funniest part is that none of us even know how the core game is going to really play out, let alone some side-system that’s supposed to complement that core gameplay.
