They have a very strict return policy. Not the type of policy you normally see from a major store like that.
Gamestop lookin ass nigga
It’s not about money, it’s about the store manager’s numbers.
Specifically, if he takes back too many returns during (x) amount of time, he’s due to get his ass chewed out by the DM.
That’s really the source of all the shitty customer service that Gamestop is known for; basically it combines the very worst of pawn shops with soulless micromanaging Corporate-fidelity chain management.
Im just saying, stop asking me to preorder madden 14 and its still January, power up rewards card? NO did you want to preorder anything else we got that new- NOOOOOOO, are you a gamesto- NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooo
just sell me the fuqing game
(exaggerating but you get the idea)
what bugs me the most is how lethargic those douche bags conduct their services.
Its infuriating and maddening.
Nigga, hurry da fuck up. No one has time for your shit.
Stop asking people to do their job? It’s not like other stores don’t do that.
I really try to like Gamestop i do, but it’s just difficult. I know the main reason people dislike Gamestop is due to poor trade-in value on their games. I am not even really concerned with that. They have to pay overhead and make money like anyone else other than Amazon and Ebay for the most part. I don’t even have a problem going just to grab a game spontaneously knowing ill pay a bit more as opposed to ordering online and waiting. What it comes down to is i just don’t like being in the store. I always feel like there is irritating 18 year old’s running the show there. And they actually come off as salespeople when you are purchasing an item. What i mean by that is it seems like they are working on commission lol. “Do you want to pre-order call of duty, Do you want to pre-order any other games”. “Oh you like fighting games did you know injustice is coming out did you want to order that?”. It’s like FUCK just give me my game i am not buying insurance or a new phone lol. It’s just like how people don’t mind shopping or paying a bit more to go to Best Buy but the customer service just sucks so they stop.
I like Gamestop. I’ve had a few times where the dudes gave me pre-order bonuses for games I didn’t even pre-order. Great company A+++ would buy from again.
I don’t want your parents buying you Kingdom Hearts either. Agreed!
THIS.
THIS RIGHT HERE.
I get so aggravated when I just buy 1 simple thing and they offer me this stupid offers or asking if I want to pre-order anything.
Like c’mon you’re wasting like 2 minutes of my life offering me stuff I’m not interested in.
You guys do understand that they force workers to push pre-orders and Card subscriptions, right?
And that Gamestop WILL cut hours down if not outright fire anyone who doesn’t meet their sales goals?
They don’t even give any kind of commission, either. EB Games did, when I worked for them right before they got bought out by GS.
What shiki said.
They have to if they want to keep their job.
Ofcourse they force them Shiki. I don’t think anyone is mad at the individual , we are talking about the company. It’s about how the company squeezes everything out of each employee for their $8 an hour and how it sucks even more for us the buyers. But if it pushes their numbers up then hey, it is what it is.
Totally understand that it’s policy, but it is aggravating having to basically say “no” to the same question time and time over. People have a general idea of what they want when they walk into places like that, but GS has changed gears so much over the years that people dread the thought of working there now. I remember when GS was actually a chill job, like back in 01 or something hahaha.
What I really like though is how they hire people that try to talk you down based on “their” gaming knowledge. Especially if it’s some toothpick girl that only got the job because of her boobs/ass.
So? That doesn’t make it any less annoying.
Also lol @ angry Sephiroth.
I’ve never had an issue Gamestop, but I don’t buy a lot of games from there or in general.
Bestbuy, on the other hand, gave me the runaround when I wanted to do an exchange on a game that I got during B2G1F. Long story short, they would only do a return/exchange if I brought back everything. I had already opened the two other games, so that wasn’t an option. So I had to go ahead and do another B2G1F free, repurchasing the two games that I had opened and getting the game that I wanted, then returning the sealed copies I had just purchased, along with the game that I didn’t want. Pain in the ass…
The only thing i don’t like about gamestop is the fact that their “new games” most of the time are not new.
Don’t like trade in value? Don’t trade it in, sell it online.
If the game i’m looking for is cheaper online fuckit i’ll buy it online, i don’t see the problem. Gamestop isn’t the only answer.
I’ll tell you some good experiences i’ve had, buying xenoblade for 40 bucks used in great condition when it can go for 70+ online.
Another one some chick working saw me buying fatal frame 1 and 3 she told me how someone was keeping 2 in the back for themselves but grabbed it and sold it to me.
All i expect from them is for me to walk in, look around and if i see something i want sell it to me so i can get the fuck out plain and simple.
I don’t expect to be treated like royalty.
oh boohoo they ask me questions
Gamers these days…sheesh
If anything you should re-title this thread “My aunt was a stupid fucking bitch and bought me a strategy guide”.
you probably got lucky
chick was probably interested in helping you or the guy who kept it back was a dick
I’ve personally disliked the store as it’s pretty expensive but I’ve gotten good results with a second hand Okami. It’s in good condition and it was about $20, better than online back in the day.
You have to remember that GS is a business and businesses nowadays have gotten pretty ruthless
Are you kidding me Game Stop is great
Their return policy on used games basically makes them a free video game renting service
huh, I don’t have a problem with gamestop at all. I’ve been renting their used games for years on the same $60 credit.
