yeah seriously. people act like they are getting robbed when they don’t get a 90% refund on games they are exchanging for store credit yet they still support the system. Gamestop isn’t your gaming buddy from across the street, they are trying to make money off of you!
My only expectation of gamestop (and retailers in general) is they sell me a game that I want at market price, and I’m never disappointed. It helps that I’m not so petulant that my day is ruined by being offered to pre order a game at checkout.
I don’t mind trading in at GameStop sometimes. I don’t buy every game with intentions on keeping it for my collection. And I could eBay or Amazon them, but for the hassle of shipping and time spent, I’d rather lose a few dollars.
One thing that’s kind of frustrating is when they ask me if I wanna renew my power up card like 3 months in advance. I know their system prompts them to ask, but that’s way too far ahead of time and they don’t have to ask me every single time.
i used to squat outside of my gamestop buying games from other people before they traded them in. they get cash on the spot instead of crappy store credit and i got quite a few deals.
Back during the Game Boy Color days… My mom took me to go buy a game. I bought Wario Land or something like that. The dude gave me the non-color version. After i walked out the store I stared at the box and it didn’t have the Game Boy Color logo. When i went back in, the guy gave me the GBC version of it and it wasn’t even in the box, it was just wrapped up.
Should have filed a complaint, but i was like 10 or something.
But yeah, other than that I don’t have any problems with gamestop. I just get in and get the game i want and leave. I never buy used shit. If I want a used copy, I’ll just wait for the game to drop to $20-30 and buy it new then.
No thank you, but I would like to pre-order another copy of MGR.
Thinking about it now, I do remember ONE location where the employees goofed around a lot. They gave me the wrong release date for a pre-order twice and when I called to ask if they had a copy of cvs2, they told me it wasn’t available on the console I asked for (which it was, they didn’t even check). That was the literal only bad experience I ever had with GS, and my solution was to just start going to the one that was closer to me anyway (only went to that one due to it being near the church I had been going to at the time). Oh, and that location was apparently infamous. I mentioned that location to a few other locations, and they ALL said that those guys didn’t know their shit.
Outside of that, my experience has always been a good one. Only reason I’ll order from amazon is if I can’t find said title at my gamestop which is pretty hard nowadays since the one near me is a fairly large one.
Amazon has been real good to me but the two pre-order bonuses at gamestop for MGR > what amazon is offering. I agree with sonicabid that buying and selling used games are a no no with gamestop.
Can you explain the reason they do this? I bought xenoblade chronicles new for $50, but they took the CD from a case and placed it in the box. Also, they couldn’t find a new box, but found a used box and just put the new CD in it. He gave me a discount just now if I want to sell it for new it looks like a used copy.
You know what I hate at Gamestop, I went there to just get League of Legends Riot Points Cards I wake up to the clerk.
Then he’s all like, "Sign up for this sign up for that yadayadayada."
Can they just stop doing that already it gets annoying.
