The First Real Tier List Discussion Thread - Your Input Matters

we have solo duo trio and custom assists that are ultra important for space control, pressure, safety, and traps, on top of meter management. This game has ALOT of content even with only 8 characters, so what do you expect us to do?

Having an opinion for the sake of having an opinion proves nothing. If you are unable to type out something meaningful due to lack of knowledge (or time), typing something incomplete doesn’t really serve any purpose.

It’s not like Skullgirls is the only game with lots of content, and creating tier lists for team based games is always kind of tricky. But arbitrarily assigning letter values to characters without meaning doesn’t really help anyone.

I mean like some of Filia’s normals, like cr.:mk: are great for hit confirming but I know it’s unsafe, though that can be covered by assists

Perhaps it doesn’t quite work that way. I’ll edit it out if it really is an issue.

It’s not an issue, it just… doesn’t work?.? A “good hitconfirm” which is -10 on block is… not a good hitconfirm but a beyond horrible one. “Can be covered with an assist” is true, but that hardly matters when evaluating her Tier Placement under ‘Singles’, does it?
Filia as a solo has no Lowgame. Her low hitconfirms are:
cr.LK>s.MP which doesn’t combo into anything unless you’re literally standing inside your opponent, so not really useable
cr.LK>cr.MP this is -26 on block
cr.LK>cr.MK this is -10 on block
So she either has to use strings with her cr.LP (eg cr.LP>cr.LP>cr.LK) which hits Mid, or off a(or two) jumping normal(s).
Which essentialy reduces her offense to High/CrossupHigh/Throw.

If you get an assist to make cr.MK safe, she gains Low and Crossunder Low, so 2 additional reset tools.

Since Filias damage even as a solo from single combos is too low to ToD, the damage drop from an added teammember doesn’t hurt,
while the additional two reset options (plus whatever else the assist might provide, eg safer approach) are a godsend.

TL;DR Solo Filia sucks, she needs an assist to work properly.

Don’t need anything meaningful to know what characters suck and which are good, it should be common sense. And peacock is D tier she is absolute booty

Pali:

If it doesn’t work, it’s an issue. I’ll change her single to reflect this.

Yes, you do need to know why Oro is inferior to Chun before you say she has no bad matchups. He is one of those matchups.

Yes, you do. Even as something as simple as “S: Chun A: Everybody else”. It’s a ranking, it’s relative. You could have S+ or SS as far as I know unless you explicity state it where everyone else is.

This thread is literally making my head hurt. People are saying that it is legitimate to pass knowledge off about characters, while admitting that they don’t know about the characters? Are you like…really dumb or something?

The game is less than a couple of months old. It takes YEARS for a true tier list to emerge, but threads like this should be used for discussion and thought exchange, instead we have people going “I don’t know stuff, don’t want to learn, but here is my opinion.”

Congrats, you have a worthless opinion. Good job.

Alot of characters don’t need a assist to extend their combos, a dp doesn’t make you good either why does filia suck then? just because someone beats you with a ms.fortune does NOT mean shes a good character. Hoorah she has a ToD combo, who doesnt? a painwheel/parasoul does a ToD as well and other team combos. Other people may need meter but shes still crap, her reset option are limited and ms.fortune is too straightforward of a character to be considered good. If she was so good why come no one really picks her? LOL i see tons of double and parasouls but no ms.fortune or fillia, cause those characters are asscheeks.

Her assist suck too, and anyone with a strong assist can body her solo free. When she takes off her head basically a free 30% dmg. Motocycles DHC to cattelites nothing she can even do about it when her head is off but eat it.

this thread is beyond fucking stupid.

id put it in ZZZZzzzz tier.

pali your avatar combined with the stuff you post is so obnoxious i want to punch the poor girl in the face.

Did you just not read? I never questioned whether she was good or bad (I heavily disagree with you on her being bad, but that doesn’t matter right now). You stated:

I asked:

This is not a question on good or bad, this is “What exactly does an assist / added teammember give her which she doesn’t have and desperately needs?”.

Also, lol.

you cant turn around and say that nobody picks fortune because she isnt good. it more to do with the fact that she is probs a lot harder to use than other characters due to the fact you have to also control a head as well and she hasnt got any braindead retarded shit like mash double butt into swag car or catheads, which is basically a noobs paradise. fortune is gonna be probs the top character solo because she basically gets an assist.

Pali i dont think you are playing the same game as everyone else some of the stuff you come out with is facepalm worthy.

**SINGLES:

Character: Painwheel
Rank: B
Reasoning:** Painwheel is a force to be reckoned with solo for the same reason she is on teams: any and every hit or throw easily confirms into a Bnb of choice. This is made better by the fact that she hits like a truck, and every combo she has contains several opportunities for nearly unseeable resets that, once again, lead to combos that hit like a truck. Her flight canceling is a godsend, allowing her to confirm from air-to-air hits, make all normal hits safe, go for double (and triple) overheads, and enhance her combos to do nearly the highest damage in the entire game.

If I’m talking about her so highly, then what justifies my ranking of B? I’d love to say it’s simple, and the concept is; it’s just a lot of information.

She has severe matchup problems when unassisted. Painwheel on a team of two has an assist to help cover her weaknesses, but solo Painwheel doesn’t have that luxury. She has no way to stop assisted rushdown other than extreme patience, perfect blocking, and excellent anticipation of throws. Those three things rarely co-exist with the throw-tech window in its current, pre-patch state. She also loses to smart zoning, which essentially leaves her jumping around projectiles like its Super Mario Bros, sometimes waiting a whole match for an opening.

Starting with specifics, the prevalent DoubleCock zoning strategy (Peacock assisted by Hornet Bomber H) completely dominates the matchup. If you can’t avoid Double from the start of the match and stay on Peacock, it’s usually over. There isn’t really much to say about this one. Painwheel has a laggy ground dash, no airdash, and most aerial approaches get knocked down by the Shadow of Impending Doom. Or Double’s butt, whichever the opponent decides. The only way to win this matchup is to be patient and inch your way forward until Peacock hits the corner, then catch her inevitable teleport. There is no move that saves the day. Only complete patience.

Painwheel also gets blown up by Parasoul backed by nearly any assist (although Cerebella’s and Double’s tend to work best). It’s just another situation where if you don’t get in Parasoul’s face at the start of the match, she’s going to proceed to set up tear shots all over the map. Now, you can easily just avoid the explosions; it’s not like Peacock’s chip that threatens you. It’s the fact that if you let her set this stuff up, she just superjumps in with her sword umbrella and knocks the living daylights out of you with assisted mixups. We’ve all been the victim of it, Painwheel or not. I don’t think I need to explain what she does. The point is that Painwheel has no answer, other than solid blocking and a timely grab in between Parasoul’s moves.

Her other matchups against assisted characters aren’t so bad, although a good Valentine or Double can be frustrating at times. Filia proves to be little trouble, as Painwheel’s J.MP will pretty much have no answer. Cerebella isn’t much of a threat either, although she can catch you sleeping. Fortune is always a threat to everyone, simply because of her diverse, unique moveset with surprises that never end (for me, anyway).

Now, you may be wondering something else this time. If she has so many weaknesses, why is she even B? The answer is a lot simpler this time, and it comes in two parts.

  1. No matter how ugly the matchup, one touch should result in the death of a character.
  2. With the exception of maybe Parasoul, she dominates any 1v1 matchup.

In the end, she fares fairly well against most of the cast. A few problem matchups hold her back from her maximum potential. I feel she is much better suited for leading a team of two, but I continue to use her solo because I don’t like the other characters enough to warrant use of anything except the assist.

No character in this game requires high execution, so to say no one picks miss fortune because shes “hard” is stupid. I can hit nom nom loop and i STILL don’t play her cause she’s just not good imo why play a character with a liability head?

Lol iv’e been playing the game alot actually and i don’t really lose to ms.fortune players ever, also at ratio 4 ms.fortune you dont even need nom combos the character is actually very easy. And double is NOT a noob character, if you lose to someone just doing random HK bomber to car you suck

also LOL at her being unzoneable because of head, like you can’t ever HIT the head.

Discussion, discusion.
You serious? You bluffin.
You’d do well to toughen

I agree with this, mostly.
