Wrong, tier lists are based mostly on matchup data, especially since everyone here seems to be doing it for solo/1-v-1. You don’t make 1-v-1 tier lists based on theory fighting.
Game doesn’t really have enough characters and they’re all good enough that there’s no real need to make a tier list for them ATM. I’ll just give my current opinions on where they stand. There’s definitely a set of characters I feel are better than others but, haven’t really played the game enough or seen it played enough to really go hard into it. Just quickie stuff. Mostly concerning their neutral/support. Combos are combos, good shit happens when you hit people in a game like this etc.
Valentine, Parasoul, Painwheel, Filia

Valentine…probably still the game’s best character. Not necessarily because of support but just because her point game backed by an assist loses to probably…nothing. Her special moves on point aren’t that threatning but she can basically do well or win every matchup without having to use one special move because she has the best combination of movement and normals the game has to offer. Any matchup where she may have to fight a projectile war she has themovement to eventually get around unless she’s really low on health and her normals can contend with the other best in the game without much trouble.
I personally feel her only issue is not super safe to DHC into and I find it funny the “this character dies when they get hit” thing funny when people talk about like Parasoul…but Valentine without an assist was pretty much designed around this concept. The only thing Valentine has without an assist is costly yolo counter meaning she needs to spend 2 meters to do anything that revolves around a reversal. It can be sneaky because there’s no flash but if it whiffs you pretty much only have your assist or more meter spending to keep you from dying. Her special moves are pretty trash in the neutral without an assist so she really has nothing else but blocking, pushblocking and throw. She has some ok assists. Nothing grand.
She just works and isn’t very difficult to play making her the ideal Marvel/Skullgirls character. Has just an interesting enough combo and mix up system to not be totally bland…but definitely the easiest character to just pick up and go HAM with and bully the other characters. With an assist I don’t see her ever running into anything that will be a huge problem.
Parasoul…I would say the game’s 2nd best character. I mean when you just need a character to plop on a team to make it better…she is the epitome of that. Still gonna see 2 person teams with blah blah/Napalm or some other funny assist she has all over the place. Offensively has great normals including some of the best aerial normals the game has to offer. Her j.MK changes are going to allow her to do all kinds of shenanigans in the air and j.HP already doesn’t give a shit about anything that doesn’t have armor. Probably has the best air throw game the game has to offer also. She doesn’t exactly have the fastest mix ups in the game but if she can lock you down in the corner or with an assist she can still open you pretty quickly. f+MP is a standing low attack and should probably be used a lot more often, f+LP gun butt overhead still hard enough to see, general tick throw stuff is good and her j.MK is gonna allow for all kinds of funny cross up stuff now. Egret call when optimized will definitely also optimize her mix up.
She also has the best special moves the game has to offer IMO with maybe only Peacock getting close. Napalm Pillar is just a ridiculous move on point even better when you have a lockdown assist like hornet bomber or a super to cover it. This all plays into her defensive game which IMO is basically still the best the game has to offer. Not only is she strong at deal with offense with her strong ground movement and aerial normals, she has a lot of moves which can either force the opponent to a side of the screen or will throw them back to the other side of the screen or towards her for combos on hit. She also basically has the best non super move in the game for dealing with projectiles. Egret dive is a boon to have versus characters like Peacock so that you can cover yourself against projectiles and then call your long ranged assist when there’s an opening to fire back at her and lock her down. I could get into her supers but…we all know her supers are good so yeah.
Support wise she’s just great. Napalm pillar has the biggest hit box of all of the AA assists and can even hit people behind you. Bit of recovery on block/whiff but you can cover it with your point. Has other assists that are also pretty strong for helping other characters.
I feel her neutral is the most untapped of all of the characters. Definitely an advanced character to execute with in the neutral but…I feel the pay off is going to be very worth it in the future. Expect her to be a regular character in play for a long time.
Painwheel…not really sure where to place her exactly but I would say she’s about 3rd or 4th right under the other 2. The concept of a little teeny Sentinel with long ranged aerial normals (one of them having armor) is a pretty dirty concept. She may not have the best ground movement but that’s only really an issue vs. the only 2 zoning centric characters in the game (Parasoul and Peacock). Once you get this bitch in the air with a good assist following she is pretty terrifying. Pretty much all of her normals are multi hit and since she can fly cancel all of them pushblocking easily becomes near useless against her if she forces you to block at all. Mix up game after she touches you is definitely above the other 2 characters above her and probably only surpassed by Filia. Having an aerial normal with armor allows her to offensively bypass moves that most other characters must respect like Napalm Pillar assist and Silent Scope super. Can even use it with perfect timing to deal with item drops. Her special moves aren’t that great offensively outside of flight…but like Sentinel…flight is the best special move she has freeeeeee. She can pretty much just say no to ground spacing games with flight.
Her defensive game IMO isn’t bad at all. Armor isn’t bad to have at all vs. some of the characters that don’t have all multi hitting normals. Especially when it can lead to a stun into a combo. It also gives you a safe way to confirm that someone is attacking you and go into her invincible ground or air supers. Her supers both have strong invincible frames and when you combine them with armor and assists makes it hard to land a clean hit on her. She can be a bully on offense while still disrespecting your offense rather easily. Especially with a safe DHC behind it all. Her best defensive tool overall is simply that she is the smallest little bitch in the game. She has an very small hurtbox and her crouch makes it so very few things can actually touch her. She was the best character pre patch at dealing with hornet bomber assist since her crouch and charged s.HP made her so small that it would literally fly over her. Now with the nerfed hit box she can just go nuts. Armor into fly cancel as a defensive/maneuvering tools is really untapped IMO especially with meter and assists.
Her supers are standard fare with the exception of her install super. Good invincible supers. Install super has a lot of potential for combos and the extra point of armor it gives her on everything. Painwheel being faster than she already is is pretty crazy too. Her level 1 supers aren’t safe on block but she’s mainly a point character so that’s not a big deal. I would hate to imagine Painwheel with scary neutral assists. Which even then c.MP is good for lockdowns and setting up high/lows since it hits mid and won’t turn on the high/low protection. Has solid cross counter options also. Has a bit of trouble with characters that have bigger aerial normals than her or that can put a lot of projectiles on the screen…but with meter, assists and strong flight cancelling techniques she can fight all of those things. Flight momentum with normals gets her to move a lot faster in the air.
Filia…buffs helped her to be a much more complete character. Was a bit of an underrated character pre patch but her issues with wall carry during her combos and ways to traverse the air have been buffed now with the patch. She’s a much more complete character on point. Like Millia she just wants to get in with those air dashes and start fucking you up with high lows and crescent spin pressure. Basically has the best mix ups in the game free. Triple overheads that can cross up, or double overhead fake into low. Add ticks in and she can basically open you up faster than anybody else in the game. Probably the best character to use for people that liked Magneto in Marvel. Quite a few multi hitting moves as well to keep pushblocks in check. She comes also with the best reversal move in the game so you can use that covered by an assist to help clear up pressure and get you in. Not as good at fighting or dealing with zoning as Parasoul or Valentine…but she can get around.
Defensively she’s very solid. Has strong aerial movement for keeping her positioning solid, great reversal with quick recovery and invincible supers that get people the fuck off of you. Her level 3 is basically a double sided shin shoryuken that you can use in dire situations to tell people to fuck off of you.
Support wise she brings decent support. Not really safe to DHC into but has another one of the game’s best invincible assists (probably the best one now as far as recovery) and I’m sure has some other alright assists.
Cerebella, Double, Ms.Fortune, Peacock

Cerebella…still really good. Might have got nerfed a bit in damage or whatever but I’m not sure that matters too much in a game where you can almost make up combos and mix ups. You just don’t want this character near you because she has some ST Gief worth tick command grab games and she’s pretty much a character that pretty much has moves that stop blocking (which is the whole point of a grappler type). Has all kinds of grabs and attack grabs and stuff that will grab you up out of the air or ground just for being in that space. While having effectively an air dash and solid air normals on top of that. Only thing really holding her back offensively IMO is lack of multi hitting normals which makes her more susceptible to pushblocks and armored moves from characters like Painwheel. Her ground movement isn’t the best either but not terrible. Has moves that can negate projectiles so not just shit out of luck vs. zoning…but definitely not great vs. it.
Defensively pretty solid. Anybody with armor has options defensively and she has invincible supers. Good enough…pick good assist if you need more than that etc.
Support is pretty good. No safe supers but they’re invincible. Solid assists and still has the best lockdown assist in the game. Huge hit box so solid in the neutral and is pretty much free multiple mix ups on block. Great for extending combos also.
Double…eh…she’s just boring now. Probably the only character where combo damage may be a real issue for her now. No more building meter during furoboros makes her a lot less braindead to play with meters also. Still has some of the better normals and specials in the game but doesn’t really have a way to legit beat zoning that isn’t mashing on super. Pretty much has no air movement and needs an assist to really get anything scary going with her dash that otherwise traverses the screen pretty quickly. Has a lot of good multi hitting normals…yeah.
Defensively she has bionic car and furoboros can still activate very quickly to get the neutral back in her favor a bit. LK hornet bomber still ok for GTFO…yeah.
Still among the best support in the game and that’s all that really matters. Hornet Bomber still has up to 1 frame of active invincibility depending on which you use and still has great lockdown and screen coverage. When there aren’t a lot of assists that cover the screen and do multiple hits…hornet bomber is still huge in the neutral especially for hit box flood type characters like Parasoul and Peacock. Hornet Bomber is pretty much the only assist Parasoul ever needs still IMO. DHC into bionic car allows you to punish a lot of whiffs and DHC into furoboros is still good. Point character/Double still gonna be great even after patch.
Ms.Fortune. Don’t know a ton about her but seems really untapped. Air normals are very solid especially her j.HK which crosses up easily and has a great hit box. Has an air dash which is just generally great to have in this game and solid ground movement. Has the game’s fastest normals which is her c.LP. Only normal in the game that is faster than the start up of a throw or any of the other fastest normals (throws and most jabs are 7 frame start up). Definitely expect her to be a king of frame traps with her rekkas and c.LP as the game goes on. Shenanigans with her head on and off are bound to be more plentiful. Basically trades the multi hitting and overall durp normals and strong aerial movement of Valentine for a more well rounded offensive
Defensively she’s very solid. Fiber uppercut is a very strong reversal against higher ranged attacks that you can apparently cancel on HIT OR WHIFF. Meaning unless the opponent blocks the fiber uppercut you can just throw it around willy nilly with assists and start up a lot of shenanigans. Typical invincible supers and a level 3 that’s plenty invincible and can potentially affect any area of the screen.
Support is solid. Has solid assist selection to choose from and invincible supers. None safe on block but…yeah.
Peacock…well she is a more zone/runaway type character. Her offensive is standard fare. It’s actually pretty solid overall since she does have an air dash and can do Marvel 2/3 type mix ups with her teleport and assists in the middle. Definitely no slouch on offense although she’s not this character you’re going to be struggling to pushblock away on offense. Mainly about beating you by just not letting you move around much and taking health from you even if you’re blocking. The more you don’t do anything against her…the worst it gets.
Defensively…she’s like the best and worst in the game depending. If she has a good assist behind her and she zones you out…she’s among the best defensively. Once you get in on her she has invincible mash super and yolo teleport. Teleport will get easily punishable by more people as the game goes on and while argus agony has some invincibility…a lot of characters can easily punish it inbetween on block. Has some of the slower start up normals in the game and is the only character in the game that is locked into a throw start up that is SLOWER than the other characters. Takes her 9 frames to perform a throw meaning she is free to tick throw games once you get in. Definitely overall has the weakest defensive options once people do get close.
Support is still decent. Solid assists and supers aren’t terrible to DHC into although not greatly safe either.
Too soon. Patch just came out and the game is much more balanced than it was pre-patch so it’s much more difficult to tell rankings right now. At this point, everyone is going to say something different.

THOUGH I DONT THINK PEACOCK LOSES THAT MATCHUP PARTICULARLY HARD, ESPECIALLY AGAINST YOUR PARA/PW TEAM… I THINK THAT MATCHUP BOILS DOWN MORE TO WHO HAS BETTER ASSISTS BACKING THEM.
COULD BE WRONG… PEACOCK WILL DIE IF PARA TOUCHES HER, BUT PEACOCK HAS A RIDICULOUSLY ADVANTAGED NEUTRAL AGAINST PARA, IMHO.
VAL CAN NOT BE CONTAINED. YOU CANT FORCE HER TO DO WHAT YOU WANT HER TO DO, SHE CAN DO DAMN NEAR EVERYTHING SHE WANTS AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. SHE CAN BAIT REVERSALS VIA FORWARD JUMP INTO DOUBLE BACK JUMP…, THEN CAPITALIZE ON THAT BAIT BY AIRDASHING FORWARD. SHE BASICALLY LAUGHS AT HORNET BOMBER. CAN GET HIGHER IN THE AIR VERSUS A GROUNDED OPPONENT THAN ANY CHARACTER IN THE GAME…

It’s not like “I got a hit, infinite time”. It’s a single combo that has to be set up, like every other damaging combo. She’s amazing for reasons besides that one combo.
No, I didn’t know if you seriously meant that thing about combos affecting tiers and then that yes thing threw me off.

Yup, Val is definitely up there, for now anyway. It is waaaayy too early to tell but I have a hunch that she will at least stay top 3 later on when the game develops more. Instant overheads into full combos + the green and red vials = too much potential.
The only problems I have with her is the fact that her assists seem very lacking, if you can’t kill her then you could probably just go for a snap back. She also seems lack defensive options without an assist.
Top tier in game so far is looking like “characters who can’t really be stopped”.
There’s no real way to lock Val and Fortune down.
Ok so back to this, what are the best duos in your guys minds… Or atleast duos that are known to be strong and a “team”
Here are my mentions:
- Anyone with double, val though is probably best with double so i will say val/double
- Parasoul/cerebella
- Peacock/filia

After those i cant really think of any synergies that are THAT good. Tere are some that are damn good but are simply generic substitutes for these… Such as peacock/parasoul, painwheel/double etc etc.
Id like to get some ideas of other duos that others think are strong.
A listing of the 3 i mentioned:
Val/double uses one of the best assists in the game combined with one of the best characters at converting that assist in to damage. It doesnt really go much further than that. An example is that val can convert off of hk bomber much easier than painwheel or parasoul can, and hk bomber does more damage. In the patch its mk bomber, but its still the same thing, val will convert the easiest for the least amount of commitment.
Parasoul/bella
Bella locks down for parasoul to do high/low stuff and parasoul bike owns the ground while bella jmp or jhp own the air.
Peacock/filia
Peacock backed by filia assist seems to be one of the cheapest things in the game… Just the threat of filia assist can make people slow down against peacock and thats all that peacock needs… Combine that with the ridiculously good dhc from peacock into filia that does hella damage and sets up for resets, basically making it so that filia can kill without ever having to worry about actually getting in… This team single handedly seems like the highest synergy team in the game… As much as filia helps out pcock… Pcock can also help out filia via a boxcar for ground dominance or a lvl 1 item drop to keep characters out of the air and on the ground where filia can put the iad bs into good use.
This duo is loaded at both ends and has tons of dhc compatibility to boot.
To be honest, I think Filia/Cerebella is an amazing duo. Filia already has great mixups, and when they’re in Cerecopter blockstun, you can set anything up. Filia can also do a lot of damage without using the OTG so Cerebella can come in with diamond dynamo and still get a combo. Oh, and Hk hair ball is great for tick throws.
I’m assuming Cerebella can still combo off of diamond dynamo post patch, I’m still playing vanilla
Double is the #1 best character S RANK.
If we’re talking pre-patch, then for sure. Post-patch, not so sure.
I’m talking post patch, doubles mixups are unblockable pretty much no one has blocked my new double resets. Its like 4 mixups in a row.

A: Parasoul, Valentine, Peacock, Filia, Double, Painwheel, Cerebella
I’d say everyone has a pretty good mix of strengths and weaknesses, except for Ms. Fortune who is just a tad too good.
