The Final Fantasy XIII series thread. Black people sold separately

something that i don’t understand is why there are so many + strength nodes for mages…

and why there are so few (particularly for light) in commando and ravager.

I am unhappy with the amount of enemy palette swaps. I am not an expert, but it seems like with more disc space and the lack of sprites, half of my battles would not have to be against randomly colored flans.

and that too. i’m not saying that enemy palette swaps shouldn’t exist…but we are on the ps3 now. we have more than enough room for a ton of unique enemies.

also, i wish everything wasn’t mechanic. i still think that the flans are the most creative (particularly flanitor and flanborg) but overall the designs are lacking. i feel like the bosses should have been doper looking too…and there should have been a larger variety of them.

whatever happened to (off the top)
demon wall
the gigantic worms
zuu
couerl
griffen/chimera
magic pots
movers
ultima weapon
czar dragon
undead enemies (that look undead…)
yojimbo
etc.

I don’t think it’s about room but more about designing and then modelling them. You see how detailed everything is? That must take a lot of effort. That said, they do seem to repeat quite often. A lot more noticeable than usual.

For people without the guide, you can get Sprint Shoes early by upgrading a Tetradic Crown to a Tetradic Tiara, maxing out the Tiara, and then disassemble it for some Sprint Shoes.

And debs, where are you grinding CP at? Is there a better spot than the King Behemoth fighting with the other creature?

Honestly, I don’t mind pallete swaps. It is the way of the RPG…would feel wrong without them. I only mind the fact that the ULTIMATE baddie is a pallete swap of a bad guy that isn’t even that cool looking.

i’m in chapter 12 now. i couldn’t take fighting the same two creatures over and over. right now i just run up the tunnel area and fight everything. there’s a save at the end of it. when you run back in the opposite direction, all the enemies will have respawned. i forgot the amount of CP i got from running back and then running forward but it was quite a lot. i’ll test it out in a sec and come back with a number.

its better than grinding on chapter 11 IMO because by 12 you have lionheart and enough money and material to upgrade it to a maxed out ultima weapon, plus you have the necessary materials to upgrade the wristband into a maxed out power glove making light pretty powerful. you also get enough cp for the others to make them pretty powerful too. the scenery in chapter 12 is the greatest thing since chapter 1 IMHO and the enemies are dope looking too.

the small details like flickers from busted wires, the city, the sky, like everything is insane. bring on ff13-2.

edit

do this sidequest in chapter 11

[details=Spoiler]
make sure to find the robot and fix it to get the items he gives you. they are items that you can sell for a premium and they give you a lot of money.[/details]

and one last thing…
i just couldn’t be bothered to grind in the second half of chapter 11. the enemies take way too long to defeat and don’t give out a decent amount of cp for the trouble. the enemies in the first area of chapter 12 are pushovers and give you waaay more cp per fight and they respawn faster.

Finally finished the game. Gonna finish the rest of the hunts.

And actually upgrade shit this time.

how long does it take to get through chapter 13?

k, so the spot i’m talking about in chapter 12 gets you 32645 CP points just walking one way. there’s a save point on either side and as soon as you get to the end of one side the enemies spawn again so you can run back to the opposite side and face them all again and save at the save point there. its right before the first boss of chapter 12.

thats 65290 total…all the monsters are pushovers minus one fight with a behemoth and some fish monsters but its not even hard. just heal if necessary and keep it moving. easy CP. way less tedious than trying to grind at everyone’s fav spot in chapter 11. plus you get a few credit chips and incentive chips or whatever they’re called, from the soldiers. thats free money plus a decent amount of cp.

Just a quick one.

Approximately how many missons can I undertake as ‘extra’ in the Pulse area before I overlevel?

I really hate finishing a FF on my frist playthrough and beating the final boss in a few minutes. I want a long drawn out epic battle!

Oh, don’t worry about being too strong for the final boss. I maxed out two of the three main crystarium grids for my three main characters and the battle was still somewhat challenging. Just make sure to equip your leader with two Cherub’s Crowns.

Besides, the last little part beyond the Point of No Return has fights that give out CRAZY CP. Like, 32,000 CP per fight.

2-3 hours I suppose. You could grind the 32k fights too if you want. I didn’t bother, the final boss fights weren’t that hard.

good. i’m trying to get to that fight by friday night.

chapter 12 >>>>
the scenery, the music, the fights…

sweet jesus. i wanna actually savor the moment. i definitely pan the camera around every few steps to see whats going on in the sky, on the side, underneath, around the corner, etc.

this is what the game needs right now. bring on versus XIII and XIII-2!

Tried playing Resonance of Fate today.

Man.

Don’t take FF13’s production value or overall polish for granted.

WTF THE LAST BOSS IS BULLSHIT

boss

Spoiler

INSTANT DEATH wtf is this shit?!?!? Got this guy’s health to like 10% then outta nowhere, instant death on my main. Cmon wtf is this? bullshit

Fuck Square for pulling shit like this.

Yeah mother fucker pulled that shit on me too. It only took me two tries to finish the game though. The last dungeon is long and annoying. I skipped every enemy I could lol. Time for the missions.

Overall I enjoyed playing this game. Graphics are amazing, gameplay is fun. The story is absolute gutter trash though. I’m still not sure if it’s better than FF12 or not (I hated FF12 story).

lol, buy like 3 cherubs for your leader.

Well i finally finished the game, ending was cool and ALMOST gave me a teary eye :frowning: but i manned up
