Yes, there is talk about FF13-2 with the same characters, same world, almost the same system but obviously tweaked here and there.
I would buy it in a heartbeat. Love this battle system.
Also, it seems this is becoming a pattern for Square. When a MMO FF comes out they release a non MMO FF sequel to keep us busy. Happened with FF11 and now with FF14.
I say bring it on. I like this cast for the most part and almost everything except the upgrading system.
That shit is definitely wack and needs to go.
Weapon upgrading could be differen; you should get EXP from battles, then buy an item to advance it to the next stage. …but that’s just my IMO.
^^ Agreed, the Upgrade System Sucks… But to add to this thread, here’s what info I’ve got and what Im thinking about doing:
Online Upgrade Guide for All Character Weapons
This link just shows each weapon, its progression and base stats, and its final ‘Ultimate Weapon’ stats… I want something that will be practical to my playstyle… I think there is an achievement for holding all weapons, so I believe that really means all weapons Tier 2, with at least one for each character hitting Tier 3. So I want my Tier 3s as Follows:
Lightning - Lionheart (Quick Staggers, Decent Damage/Magic)
Snow - Undecided - leaning towards Power Circle (high Phys Damage… BEAT DAT ASSSSSSS) ATB+1
Fang - Pandora Spear - Jamming Success Rate Up, ATB+1 Decent PHYS, high Magic
Hope - Otshirvani - Decent Phys/Magic, Aspir Abilities Enhances, ATB+1 (really who gives a shit, Ill never use this asshole i hate him.)
Sasz - Vega - High Phys/Mag and ATB+1
Vanille - Belladona - Low Phys, high Magic, Jamming Success Rate Up, ATB+1
At least, this is my initial cut… Im only on chapter 8 but I figure you can never be too prepared
lol unlike Sahz I think Hope learns Protect and Shell, whereas Sazh learns them late in the game I think. I prefer Hope over Sazh when it comes to Synergy and Ravager, but since I like to mix-up my teams every now and then I’ll use good ol Sazh whenever I feel like it.
Gonna quote your post if you don’t mind.
EDIT: Oh yeah and I JUST realized that Snow’s ‘weapon’
is the design on the back of his coat XD
how much gil exactly does it take to upgrade a chars weapon to its last version? i got bout 150k gil right now.
I’d say it take over…2 million Gil? For some characters you need to buy a very expensive catalyst to upgrade to the final stage.
Yeah, around 2 million to full upgrade.
At uhh, chap 12 mid boss (I guess you can call it that). I haven’t done any grinding but man, Chap 11 boss was annoying as hell. Haven’t upgraded any weapons or acc. yet.
To get a L.1 Tier 1 weapon to L.Max Tier 3 weapon it takes about 4,000,000 gil. But, after the first ultimate weapon, you can cut the cost to around 1,500,000 gil because dismantling a L.Max Tier 3 weapon gives you 2 Trapezohedron (Vanille’s and Fang’s gives you 3); the most expensive part. This is assuming that you buy all the parts.
My suggestion for early Chapter 11 upgrading (which is really when you should first start with weapons) is to repeatedly complete Mission 7. Every completion (after the first) gives you 5 Bomb Cores, which are worth 551 EXP each to a Rank 6 item.
The final Catalyst is ALWAYS the very expensive Trapezohedron.
The best chapter 11 grinding is in the tower, doing mission 24 (the one with the dancing bird guys, I believe it’s 24). You have to clear the tower boss before you can do it, but it’s worth it. 6k CP/6k gil for a simple fight, turn around walk 20 steps, re-start the mission, repeat.
You can get 80k gil in no time, and buy enough colorful ooze(to hit a 3x multiplier)/whatever 840gil mechanical upgrade piece to upgrade any weapon to tier 2*. Repeat for any character you want.
The key part though is to make sure you reach max level 4 jobs with your characters. The game felt very balanced for that from the end of 11 to the end of the game. I felt like I was at the right difficulty (maybe a tad bit too easy) when I hit that point.
As far as your end-game party, Light/Fang/Hope, stat-wise, are the best characters. Fang ends up with the most Strength, Hope gets the most Magic. Hope learns Haste at the end finally, and has every other buff you want, Fang will get all of Vanille’s debuffs plus her starting ones, and Lightning is just good. Despite who you may like or dislike, they are the best party to end up with. The only exception is Vanille for farming Turtles, since she’s the only one who can get Death.
I disagree with your tiers of this game. Hope is shit compared to Gabrielle statwise. His “limit break” of Holy/Last Resort is the best thing he has and that pales compared to Gabrielle’s Death for obvious reasons. Not to mention he has the lowest HP of all characters.
Gabrielle is the best mage in this game hands down.
Thanks Spooty for the Doctor’s Code info. Upgraded a long time ago but never used it, so I just dismantled it.
Question for you guys, since you’re ahead of me, did you find yourselves dismantling items a lot? Do weapons dismantle into different components at different upgrade levels?
well, here are a few things i’ve seen on the net that should help all of us out…
how to get sprint shoes:
upgrade tetradic tiara to tetradic crown. max out the crown then dismantle it to get sprint shoes.
do NOT upgrade a tetradic crown that was not a tiara because you’ll just get hermes sandals which you will mean that need a catalyst to upgrade to sprint shoes.
also, sprint shoes upgrade to nimbletoe boots so DO NOT upgrade sprint shoes. you can buy nimbletoe boots in one of the stores for cheap.
if you max out sprint shoes but you don’t upgrade them to nimbletoe boots then haste will last 7-10 seconds longer, supposedly.
I’m saving Sazh, Vanille, and Snow to be my extreme specialists for the post-game. Sazh will be a maxed-out Synergist, Vanille will be a maxed-out Medic, and Snow will be a maxed-out Sentinel.
Mission Guide (only 1-40 for now…) :

how to farm for CP in chapter 11:
anybody that needs help on items, weapons and accessories this is a good site to go to (its a forum) :

anything else i come across i’ll post here.
Why would you dismantle 3 accessories before you dismantle the Tetradic Tiara? I was under the impression that a L.Max Tetradic Tiara dismantles into Sprint Shoes already.
Also, I’m not really sure on the whole dismantle 3 accessory thing anyways, how does that change dismantling “drops?”
EDIT: Ok, I tried dismantling items (3 and more) before dismantling a L.Max item to see if it changed the “drops,” and there was no change. Unless it only works with the Tetradic Crown, then I am not sure what that guy was smoking.
Awesome stuff guys, I’ll be sure to take note of these when I replay the game someday =D
So what exactly are the benefits(if any) of getting 5 stars on all missions? I got 5 stars on mission 1 and 2, after that, the rest were between 2-4.
Put up good grind spots! =D
Getting 5 stars increases the chances of getting an Item =)
Apparently getting no stars is supposed to increase the chances of getting an L1 item.
